Anaheim Ducks vs. Colorado Avalanche

The best teams in the league come through here twice a year if the schedule is kind, and Colorado is one of them. There is a particular value in watching a genuinely excellent side in person rather than on a screen, because the thing that separates them is spatial and almost impossible to televise - they are simply always in the right place, slightly earlier than everybody else. The last Tuesday in March puts this deep in the run-in, where tired legs make that gap even more obvious. The home crowd will be loud and nervous in equal measure. Come to watch the visitors as much as the home side; it is not disloyal, it is just the most interesting thing happening in the building, and you will understand the sport better afterwards for having done it. Get there early enough for the warmup; watching a very good team go through its routine is a lesson in itself, and it is free.
