LA Clippers vs. Detroit Pistons

A rebuilding team is the most honest thing in professional sport. Nobody is pretending, the expectations have been publicly lowered, and what you get instead is a roster of young players with everything still to prove playing with a freedom that better teams cannot afford. Detroit arrive in exactly that state and they are far more watchable for it. February Tuesdays are also the point in the calendar when the seats you have been looking at online stop being theoretical - the casual demand has gone, the building is left to people who actually want to be in it, and the lower bowl becomes a reasonable decision rather than an extravagant one. Come to the quiet part of the season and sit close enough to hear the benches. It is the version of this sport that television has never managed to transmit. Check the lower-bowl prices in the week beforehand rather than on the day; February midweek is the one stretch where they genuinely move in your favour.
