LA Clippers vs. Sacramento Kings

Both teams in this city finish at home on the same Sunday at the same hour, which has never happened before and will probably never be noticed by anybody outside the two buildings. It means the city splits one last time, twelve miles apart, for an afternoon. A final home game has a quality nothing else on the calendar produces - a crowd simultaneously watching basketball and saying goodbye to a room for six months, applauding things that do not strictly merit it, staying in their seats after the buzzer for no particular reason anybody could name. Sacramento are the opponent and almost beside the point. Go to a last home game once. A season only feels like a season if you were there at both ends of it, and the April version of this building is unrecognisable from October's. Buy ahead if you want to be in the room. Final home games firm up in the last fortnight regardless of the standings, because sentiment is a steadier buyer than seeding has ever been.
