Los Angeles Kings vs. Minnesota Wild
Dec 3, 2026 Crypto.com Arena, 1111 S Figueroa …

Thursday night hockey at Crypto.com Arena as the Kings take on the Minnesota Wild in the second game of LA's December homestand. December hockey in Los Angeles is one of the city's quietest pleasures — the tourist crowds thin out after Thanksgiving, the arena stays cold and loud, and the Kings settle into the rhythm of a long home stretch that rewards the regulars who show up on weeknights when the rest of the city is elsewhere. Minnesota brings a blue-collar road game built on forechecking and neutral-zone discipline, the kind of opponent that makes for a cleaner, faster contest than the divisional grudge matches — fewer scrums, more transition, and a pace that pulls you to the edge of your seat before you realize you are leaning. The DTLA location means you can walk to dinner in any direction after the final horn, and the Thursday-night timing puts you back home before midnight with a story about a game most of your friends did not know was happening. That is the beauty of weeknight hockey in this city: it belongs to the people who were paying attention. Puck drops at 7:00 PM.

Los Angeles Kings vs. Anaheim Ducks
Nov 28, 2026 Crypto.com Arena, 1111 S Figueroa …

This is the return leg, and in a rivalry built entirely on a stretch of freeway the return leg matters more than the first one. The Freeway Face-Off splits Southern California households rather than cities, and the Saturday version downtown draws the Orange County contingent north in numbers that turn a home game into something closer to a split building. Thanksgiving weekend helps: nobody is working, the 5 is survivable for once, and a six o'clock start means the whole thing is done in time for whatever the family still expects of you. Crypto.com Arena is also the louder of the two buildings when it is full, and this is one of the handful of nights a year it genuinely is. These two also play the night before down in Anaheim, so whoever lost on Friday arrives with something to prove and the tone is set before anyone drops a glove. Saturday the twenty-eighth, first puck at six, downtown on Figueroa.

Los Angeles Kings vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
Dec 30, 2026 ✨ New Crypto.com Arena, 1111 S Figueroa …

Nobody knows what day it is between Christmas and New Year. Half the city is technically working, the other half is lying about it, and every plan anybody proposes gets agreed to instantly because the alternative is a fourth consecutive evening of nothing in particular. Here is the thing worth knowing about this specific night. When Toronto comes to town, roughly a third of the building turns blue. Canadians who moved here for the weather and have never once admitted to missing anything about home come out for this one game, wearing a jersey that has not left a closet since October, and they are loud in a way that genuinely irritates the home crowd. That tension is the entire evening, and it is reliably better than the hockey. Send it to the coworker who says eh about once a month and pretends not to notice themselves doing it. Puck drop seven, Crypto.com Arena downtown.

Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils
Jan 2, 2027 ✨ New Crypto.com Arena, 1111 S Figueroa …

January 2 asks nothing at all of anybody. The parade has gone by, the bowl game is finished, the resolutions are two days old and not yet broken, and there is an entire Saturday sitting there with nothing whatsoever booked on it. A six o'clock puck drop is the civilised version of a sports evening. You are in your seat before dark, you are back out on Figueroa by half eight, and the night is still in front of you rather than behind. Downtown on the second of January is also quiet enough that parking stops being the argument it usually is on a Saturday. The team that plays here won this league twice in three years not so long ago, which for a franchise that waited forty-five years to win it once is still something people bring up entirely unprompted. For whoever spent New Year's Eve indoors and has been quietly regretting it since. Six o'clock downtown, Saturday January 2.

KCON LA 2026
Aug 15 – Aug 16, 2026 From $136 Crypto.com Arena, 1111 S Figueroa …

You've spent years experiencing this through a screen — the fancams, the comebacks, the fanchants you learned alone in your room. For one weekend in August, all of it becomes physical, and you're standing in a room with twenty thousand people who feel exactly what you feel. That's the moment KCON exists to create: the second parasocial turns into a crowd. It's the largest K-pop festival in America, and Los Angeles is where it belongs — the convention floor at the LACC runs for hundreds of thousands of square feet of Korean beauty activations, dance challenges, K-drama screening rooms, and some of the most organized fan communities you'll ever encounter, while the evening concerts at Crypto.com Arena are full arena productions, light sticks and coordinated fanchants that would feel at home in Seoul. The crowd is multigenerational and multicultural, and the transformation is real: people arrive as skeptics dragged along by their kids and leave fans; people arrive alone and leave with a community that outlasts the weekend. August 14–16 at Crypto.com Arena and the LA Convention Center. Tickets are stratified — convention floor, concert, or combined — so buy early, and get to the LACC in the morning on Day 1 before the brand experiences hit capacity. Wear shoes you can cover miles in, bring a portable charger for the fanchants, and book a hotel near the convention center, not the arena — clearing out after the show can take 45 minutes. Tickets on Ticketmaster.

Lights All Night 2026 — New Year's Eve EDM Festival, Dallas, TX
Dec 30 – Dec 31, 2026 Fair Park, 3809 Grand Ave, Dallas,…

What it is: Texas' longest-running EDM festival transforms Fair Park in Dallas into a New Year's Eve celebration that makes midnight feel like the beginning of something, not the end. Lights All Night returns December 30–31, 2026 for a two-night, multi-stage takeover headlined by Tiësto, Chris Lake, Subtronics, Gryffin, I Hate Models, ARMNHMR, and ATLiens — spanning house, techno, bass, dubstep, and drum and bass across multiple stages and six football fields of production. The experience: This is the festival that proved EDM belongs in winter. The cold air sharpens every sense. The bass hits your chest before you hear the drop. Confetti cannons fire at midnight. The year changes mid-song and nobody stops dancing because the beat doesn't stop either. Every December, the electronic music community in the South converges here because nowhere else does NYE like this — it's not a party with music, it's a festival that happens to contain midnight. Worth it? If you're the person who counts down with a DJ instead of a champagne glass, this is the only New Year's Eve that makes sense. If you've ever spent January 1st in silence because the night before was too loud to follow, you already understand what this festival sells. Two nights. 18+. Tickets from $286. What to know before you go: Fair Park is outdoors — Dallas in December is cold but manageable. Dress in layers you don't mind losing. The water stations save lives. The sound bleed between stages is minimal, which means you can hop from house to dubstep without the transitions being painful. The cultural moment: Lights All Night is the longest-running EDM festival in Texas, and its placement on NYE makes it more than a music event — it is a ritual. The people who go every year treat it like a pilgrimage. The people who go once understand why. In a country full of New Year's options — rooftop champagne, house parties, watching the ball drop on a screen — LAN offers the version where midnight happens inside a bass drop and 15,000 strangers become the same organism for exactly one second. That collective exhale at 12:00:01 is the product. The music is how you get there.

First Night Boston 2027 — New Year's Eve Arts Festival
Dec 31, 2026 Copley Square, 560 Boylston St, Bo…

The country's oldest and largest New Year's Eve arts festival does not require a ticket, a reservation, or knowing somebody. First Night Boston turns the city into an open stage on December 31 — live music spilling out of churches and concert halls, dance performances in hotel lobbies, figure skating on the Common, ice sculptures catching the last light of the year, and fireworks over the harbor that turn the waterfront into something a painter would have to apologize for inventing. All of it is free. There is something particular about a city that decided decades ago that the best way to close the year is to give everyone the same night, regardless of what they can afford, and then actually followed through on it for forty consecutive years. The celebration runs across multiple venues from the Back Bay to the Waterfront, building through the afternoon and evening until midnight, when Boston Harbor lights up and everyone who was a stranger an hour ago is suddenly cheering for the same uncertain future. Copley Square and the harbor are the anchors, but the real event is the walk between them — every block holds something you did not expect, a string quartet in a doorway or a stilt walker handing out sparklers or a choir that makes you stop and forget where you were going. The afternoon programming is built for families — puppet shows, face painting, music workshops, a parade of illuminated lanterns through the Back Bay. The evening shifts to concerts and DJ sets and the ice sculptures start glowing from inside. By 10 PM the harbor fills with people staking out spots for the midnight fireworks, and the air carries that specific electricity of a million people deciding at the same time that next year will be different. First Night has been copied by over 200 cities worldwide, but the original still runs in the city where it started, and that matters more than it should. Copley Square, 560 Boylston St, Boston, MA. December 31, 2026. Free.

You will be tired in a way that feels earned. Four days, a hundred thousand people, and not one of them needs you to explain what you are talking about. The largest anime convention in North America takes the Los Angeles Convention Center over Fourth of July weekend and spills into the JW Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton beside it. Industry panels, screening rooms, autograph sessions with voice actors and composers, concerts that sell out weeks ahead. Studios from Japan use this as their main North American announcement stage — if a sequel or adaptation is being revealed, it often happens in a room you could be standing in. The exhibit hall carries imported merchandise and collaboration exclusives that surface nowhere else on the continent. Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 S Figueroa St. Thursday through Sunday. Badges run from top-tier early-access down to single-day passes. Book the connected hotel corridor months out. Everyone who tells you that learned it the hard way.

A hundred and fifty steps from the ocean, a corner of Pacific Beach turns into a block party that nobody had to organize you into. Fire pits going. Nine to twelve food vendors rotating week to week, so the thing you loved last time might be gone and the thing replacing it might be better. Live music that is genuinely local — acoustic sets, small bands, the occasional DJ. Games. A crowd of PB locals and students and people who simply wandered up from the beach still holding a towel. Past vendors have run birria tacos, banh mi, craft lemonade, Hawaiian shave ice, artisan pastries, small-batch hot sauces. A few craft sellers usually set up alongside. This is a neighborhood gathering, not a ticketed event. Free. No RSVP. You walk up. Bayard St and Garnet Ave, Pacific Beach. 5 to 9:30 PM. Bring a layer — it cools off fast after sunset, even in August.

Taste of Soul LA 2026

The smell reaches you before the stages do - barbecue and catfish and soul food covering a mile-plus of Crenshaw Boulevard, because every major Black-owned restaurant in South LA has a booth out here and the food is the center of the whole thing. For one Saturday in October, this stretch between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Leimert Park Village becomes one of the largest street festivals in Los Angeles. More than 300,000 people move through in a single day. The format is street vendors, restaurant booths, live music stages, a car show, health screenings, and community organization presence - but it is the food and the crowd that make it. Founded by the Los Angeles Sentinel, the oldest Black-owned newspaper in California, it has run for over two decades and stayed a genuine community institution: multigenerational, neighborhood-rooted, and enormous. This is Leimert Park and Crenshaw at their fullest. Free to attend. Crenshaw closes to traffic for the day. The Metro K Line stops at Leimert Park Village and is the easiest way in and out. Arrive early if you want to move - by noon the crowds are deep.
