Los Angeles Convention Center, 120…
In the most car-dependent city in America, the future of the thing everyone drives arrives for two weeks in a single hall - concept cars that may never be built, standing at full scale, glowing under dramatic light. The LA Auto Show opens at the LA Convention Center in late November, the world's automakers presenting their current thinking to the people who will actually drive it. Walking the floor is an exercise in cultural prediction. The main hall holds every major manufacturer's flagship display, vehicles you have only read about suddenly appearing at full scale, and the concept cars are the centerpiece every year - designed to show capability rather than sell product. Adjacent to the main floor, the Connected Car Expo runs at the same time, showing the technology that will eventually be embedded in every vehicle, while the Dream Drive pavilion offers test drives at select activations. AutoMobility LA, the industry media days the preceding week, produces most of the announcement news; the public show is where those announcements become tangible. Is it worth attending? For car enthusiasts, straightforwardly yes - the density of new vehicles in one place, with full access and no appointment, is rare. For casual visitors, the show rewards curiosity: the concept cars are genuinely strange and beautiful in ways photographs never capture, and the electric vehicle pavilion gives most major manufacturers' EV lineups the same room, the clearest possible illustration of where the industry is in its transition. Tickets are available online and at the door - online saves time at entry. The Convention Center is reachable by Metro (Pico or Convention Center stations), and weekday mornings are the least crowded windows if you have flexibility. The show runs from late November into early December, coinciding with the opening of the holiday retail season downtown, so the area is busy beyond the show itself. It has historically allowed children under 12 free with an adult - check the official site for 2026 pricing and hours. What makes it worth the trip is simple: it is one of the few annual events in any industry where the most powerful companies in the world put their most ambitious work in one room and ask the public to react. The automotive industry employs more people than any sector in the United States, and the LA show is its most public annual report. Even without buying a car, walking it is a way of reading the industry's intentions for the next decade.

Los Angeles Convention Center, 120…
Fifty years ago a farm boy looked up at twin suns and a generation learned what longing sounds like.
Star Wars Celebration returns to Los Angeles on April 1–4, 2027, to mark the 50th anniversary of the film that changed everything. This is the gathering where Lucasfilm pulls back the curtain — world premieres of upcoming projects, panels with the creators who are building the next chapters, first looks at footage that won't exist anywhere else for months. The show floor spans the LA Convention Center with walk-through exhibits, a cosplay showcase that draws the most ambitious builders on the planet, exclusive merchandise that sells out before lunch, and the collective energy of tens of thousands of people who all trace something essential about who they are back to that same opening crawl.
The 50th anniversary makes this one different. Half a century of stories, characters, music, and moments that shaped how an entire culture thinks about heroism, redemption, and the distance between who you are and who you could be. Whether you've been here since 1977 or discovered it last year, Celebration is the room where every version of that journey is valid.
What makes Star Wars Celebration unlike any other fan convention is that it is the only place where the future of the franchise is revealed first. Every major announcement — from The Mandalorian's debut trailer to Ahsoka's first footage to the reveal of new theatrical films — happened at Celebration before it happened anywhere else. The industry comes because Lucasfilm treats this room as the premiere venue. The fans come because they've been part of this story longer than most relationships in their lives.
Expect four full days of programming: the headline showcase at the Honda Center (separate ticket tier), hundreds of panels across multiple stages, the Fan Stage where cosplayers and community creators take the spotlight, interactive experiences that put you inside the worlds of the saga, and the Artist Alley where illustrators who shaped the visual language of Star Wars sell original work.
Four-day adult passes from $260.99. Children 4–12 from $105.99. Los Angeles Convention Center. April 1–4, 2027. The anniversary year has screenings and smaller gatherings running all through it, and the people in this room will be at those too.

Every July 4th weekend, the Los Angeles Convention Center stops being a convention center and becomes the largest gathering of anime fans in North America. The four-day span draws 100,000 attendees and turns downtown LA into the axis of the anime world for the summer.
The scale hits you immediately. The Exhibit Hall spans over 340,000 square feet of merchandise, artist booths, publisher displays, and licensed collectibles. Artist Alley is a separate destination — hundreds of independent creators selling original art, prints, and handmade goods, the kind of work you will not find on any streaming platform or official retail channel. The Industry Panels are where announcements happen: English dub cast reveals, new season confirmations, licensing news that fans will screenshot and share for weeks. Voice actor autograph sessions routinely have lines forming before sunrise.
Is Anime Expo worth it? If you are even moderately embedded in anime culture — yes, emphatically. The density of what you can see and do in four days at the LACC is unmatched. There is no equivalent event in North America for scope, for industry access, for the sheer number of people who look exactly as excited about the same things you are. The cosplay alone — tens of thousands of costumes across every franchise — is worth the badge price for someone who has never seen it at this scale.
Before you go: buy your badge early; prices increase and popular event tickets (Masquerade, concerts) require separate purchase and sell out fast. The convention floor opens at 9am but autograph lottery lines form before 7. Wear comfortable shoes — you will walk six miles without trying. The 4th of July weekend means Downtown LA is also hosting holiday events; plan transit accordingly. Metro is faster than driving. Bring cash for Artist Alley.
Anime Expo earns its Nation's Best position because it is the single largest public expression of a cultural moment that has been building for thirty years and shows no sign of slowing. The mainstream discovered anime. AX is where the culture that built it celebrates on its own terms. Los Angeles Convention Center. July 2–5, 2026.
The concert programming — separate ticketed events within AX — brings J-pop and ani-song artists to Los Angeles who rarely perform in North America outside of this weekend. If you follow any Japanese artist, check the concert schedule before finalizing your badge type. These shows sell out independently of the main badge and often represent the single best live music opportunity of any anime fan's year.
While you are lookingDifferent scene, same night out.

Various Venues — LA, Allen TX, New…
Seventy-three million people watched the last final on a screen. A few thousand got to feel the room move — and that gap is the entire reason to be in the building. The 2026 League of Legends World Championship runs October 15 through November 14 across three American cities, nineteen teams deep, and for the first time in the tournament's history the trophy gets lifted on the East Coast.
Each stage is a different sport. The Play-Ins open in Los Angeles inside Riot's own studio arena, a room tight enough that crowd noise reaches the stage and close enough to watch a player's posture change when a fight goes wrong. Allen, Texas is where the field gets cut — teams grinding through a Swiss format for eight knockout seats, afternoon after afternoon, in the least glamorous and most brutal stretch of the whole run. Brooklyn is the coronation. There is a moment in a Worlds match where a team's composition either clicks or comes apart, and the arena registers it a half-second before the casters do; you feel the shift in the crowd before you understand what happened on the map.
This is not for someone who needs the broadcast overlay to follow a teamfight. The crowd on a bracket night knows exactly what it is watching, and that shared literacy is the thing a stream cannot hand you — when an arena gasps at a ward placement, you are either in on it or you are lost. If you have put a thousand hours into this game and never once sat in a room full of people who did the same, it is worth the trip. If you follow it casually, watch the broadcast and keep the money; the ticket buys proximity, not understanding.
What people get wrong: they treat it as one event with one ticket. Sessions are sold per date, and inventory is not identical across them — the Texas dates behave nothing like the final. When general sale opened for Brooklyn, roughly 430 seats appeared and were gone within minutes, then surfaced on resale as high as 3,200 dollars against a 120-to-350 face. Every date is mobile entry only; your phone is the ticket. Bags are capped small (under 4.5 by 8.5 inches) or medium clear (under 14 by 14 by 6), and interchangeable-lens cameras, tripods, gimbals and selfie sticks are all refused at the door. Phones are fine for personal recording. Venue rules differ between Texas and Brooklyn, so read each one separately rather than assuming.
Worlds is the closest thing competitive gaming has to a national holiday, and 2026 is the year it stopped being a West Coast story. Play-Ins in Los Angeles October 15–18; Swiss Stage and the quarterfinals and semifinals at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, October 23 through November 8; the final at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on November 14. Tickets through Ticketmaster via lolesports.com. Whichever city you pick, you will spend the rest of the season arguing about what you saw with people who were not there.

SoFi Stadium, 1001 Stadium Drive, …
The Super Bowl has come to Los Angeles before. It has never come to SoFi. That changes February 7, 2027 — at the half-billion-dollar stadium that opened in 2020 and changed what a modern NFL venue can look like: translucent canopy, open-air California design, Hollywood Park campus surrounding it.
What Super Bowl week in Los Angeles looks and feels like is unlike any other sporting event on the calendar. The week before the game, Radio Row draws every media personality with a microphone. The NFL Experience fan festival opens to the public at the Convention Center. Celebrity parties are announced and cancelled and announced again. The halftime show rehearsals happen under tight security at the stadium while the surrounding streets fill with brand activations, pop-ups, and spontaneous gatherings of fans who couldn't get tickets but wanted to be near the thing. Los Angeles absorbs the Super Bowl differently than Nashville or Minneapolis — the entertainment industry and sports culture overlap here in a way that produces genuine energy rather than manufactured excitement.
Is the Super Bowl worth attending in person? If you have the means and the access, the answer is yes, but the experience is as much about the week as the game. Super Bowl tickets are among the most expensive in sports, and the seat you occupy at game time may matter less than the four days of surrounding events, parties, and city energy that build toward kickoff. For the majority of people who will experience Super Bowl LXI from Los Angeles without attending the game, the city itself becomes a venue. Watch parties at venues across SoCal will be among the most concentrated social events of the year.
What to know: Tickets sell through the NFL and Ticketmaster — secondary market prices will be extreme. The SoFi Stadium campus includes a performance venue (YouTube Theater), a casino (Inglewood), and hotel development in progress; the entertainment zone around the stadium is walkable and dense. Metro's C Line (Green) stops at Hawthorne/Lennox, about a 20-minute walk from SoFi. Parking is limited and expensive; transit from LAX is the recommended option for most attendees. The week's best experiences are often free — Radio Row, fan zones, and the energy of the city.
Super Bowl LXI matters for one reason beyond the game itself: it is the largest single-day American cultural event, and in 2027 it comes to Los Angeles. The convergence of the NFL, Hollywood, the music industry (halftime show), and the national media in one city for one weekend creates a cultural moment that extends far beyond the game. Knowing about it, knowing what week to plan around it, knowing the venue and the city — that is the preparation that turns an ordinary February into the right February.

Rockefeller Plaza, 45 Rockefeller …
Ninety-four years of putting a tree in Rockefeller Center and lighting it in front of millions of people, and it still works. The moment the switch is flipped and 50,000 multicolored LED lights illuminate a 75-foot Norway spruce, every person in the plaza holds their breath at the same time — and most of them don't even know each other.
The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony returns in late November or early December 2026 — the exact date is typically announced in October, but the tradition is unmovable: NBC broadcasts the event live as one of the highest-rated specials of the holiday season, with major musical performances and celebrity appearances drawing tens of millions of viewers. But the real experience is standing in the plaza itself, surrounded by the skating rink below, the golden Prometheus statue, the Channel Gardens lined with illuminated wire angels, and the towering Art Deco facades of 30 Rock and the surrounding buildings, all watching a tree that took a crane and three days to install suddenly become the most photographed object in New York City.
The tree stays lit through early January 2027 — every night, 5 PM to midnight, free to view from the plaza. The best time to visit in person is on a weekday morning before 9 AM, when the crowds thin and you can stand close enough to see the Swarovski crystal star topper — a 900-pound, 70-point creation that has crowned the tree since 2018.
Rockefeller Plaza, 45 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10111. Free to view. The ice skating rink below the tree operates October through April — reservations recommended during the holiday season at therinkatrockcenter.com.
There are holiday traditions you participate in and holiday traditions you witness. This one is both — because the moment you see it in person, you stop being a spectator and become part of the postcard that defines the American holiday season.

Downtown Cincinnati, 1805 Elm St, …
You have walked through a city at night a thousand times and never once thought the buildings were watching you back. At BLINK, they are. Thirty blocks of downtown Cincinnati and Covington, Kentucky become a single open-air gallery where projection mapping turns familiar facades into living canvases — walls that breathe, ripple, and dissolve into color while two million people walk through them for free.
BLINK is the largest immersive light and art festival in the nation. October 8 through 11, 2026, ninety-two artists from twenty countries install large-scale projection mapping, interactive light sculptures, murals, and street performances across six walkable neighborhood zones connected by the Cincinnati Bell Connector streetcar, which runs free during event hours. The installations range from massive building-face animations to intimate alleyway pieces you stumble into by accident. First-timers are often surprised that the most affecting work is not the biggest — it is the piece tucked behind a parking garage that no one told them about.
If you are the kind of person who has ever stood in front of a building and wished it would do something, BLINK is the answer to that private, slightly unhinged prayer. This is not a ticketed show. There is no gate. You walk into it the way you walk into weather — surrounded, unhurried, unable to see where the art ends and the street begins. The festival draws over two million visitors across four nights, making it one of the largest free public art events in the country.
The tips that matter: park at Cincinnati State for free or the Museum Center at Union Terminal for four dollars and take the streetcar in. Download the BLINK map before you go — over eighty installations across six zones will overwhelm anyone trying to wing it. Veterans focus on one or two zones per evening. Wear comfortable shoes. Bring water. The streetcar starts running free at 4 PM. Thursday runs until midnight. Friday and Saturday until 1 AM. Sunday until 11 PM.
BLINK exists because Cincinnati believed that public art could change how an entire city sees itself — not for an afternoon, but permanently. Every edition leaves new murals behind. The projection mapping fades by Monday. The murals stay. The city remembers what it looked like when it glowed, and some part of it keeps glowing all year. That is not a festival. That is a city teaching itself a new language, four nights at a time. Free admission. October 8–11, 2026. Downtown Cincinnati and Covington, Kentucky.

Tidal Basin, 900 Ohio Dr SW, Washi…
For four to seven days you can never quite predict, a stretch of the National Mall becomes the most photographed place in America - and the bloom refuses to wait for anyone's schedule, which is exactly what makes it worth chasing. When the roughly 3,000 cherry trees Japan gave the United States in 1912 hit peak bloom over the Tidal Basin, the water disappears under a pink-and-white canopy, and walking the two-mile loop at dawn, before the crowds, is genuinely transcendent.
The festival organizes itself around the Tidal Basin, the man-made reservoir framed by the Jefferson Memorial to the south and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial to the northeast. Peak bloom typically arrives in the last week of March or first week of April, depending on the year's temperatures. The Kite Festival on the National Mall, the Lantern Lighting Ceremony in East Potomac Park, and the parade through downtown DC fill the surrounding weeks - but the trees themselves are the destination.
Here is the essential caveat: peak bloom is not on the calendar. The National Park Service issues rolling bloom forecasts starting in late winter, updated as temperatures develop, and peak lasts only four to seven days. Visitors who book around the festival dates without tracking the forecast frequently arrive early or late and miss it entirely. The safest strategy is to build flexibility across a 10-day window centered on the last week of March.
Crowds near the Tidal Basin during peak bloom are intense on weekends. Arrive before 7am on a weekday, or head to the Kenwood neighborhood in Bethesda, Maryland - a residential area with hundreds of cherry trees and a fraction of the Washington traffic. The National Arboretum in northeast DC is another low-crowd option with exceptional bloom density.
Japan's 1912 gift has become one of the most emotionally legible events in American culture - a reminder, on the same timetable every year, that beauty is worth planning around. The trees do not last. That is the point. The National Cherry Blossom Festival runs March 20 through April 11, 2027, in Washington, DC.

Nov 13 – Nov 15, 2026
San Diego Convention Center, 111 W…
Your favorite streamer - the one you have watched for 3,000 hours - is probably in the building, and you can actually walk up and talk to them. That is the whole reason to go.
There is a strange intimacy to a parasocial relationship built over thousands of hours of someone's voice in your headphones, and this is the one place it collapses into a real handshake. You know their cat's name. You know which of their friends you would get along with. They do not know you exist, and somehow that does not make the queue feel foolish, because everyone standing in it is carrying the same lopsided friendship and nobody here is embarrassed about it.
The expo hall plays like a live streaming studio crossed with a gaming lounge: streamers broadcasting right off the floor, sub-notification sounds coming from everywhere, meet-and-greets with people who have lived in your second monitor for years. Variety Arcades, developer showcases, and cosplay competitions for game characters fill out the rest, and the whole convention is built around live streaming culture - the people who make it and the people who never miss a stream, in the same room for once.
Is it worth the trip? If streaming is background noise to you, no - it will read as a trade show for a job you do not have. If a particular channel has been the thing you put on when the apartment is too quiet, then yes, unreservedly. This is the one weekend of the year when a community stops being a chat window and becomes a crowd with faces in it.
What first-timers get wrong is planning around panels and missing the hall. The panels get recorded. The accidental conversation in a signing line does not. Wear shoes you can stand in all day, bring a battery, and accept that your schedule will survive roughly until lunch.
TwitchCon North America 2026 returns to San Diego, September 25-27. Half the crowd stays in the city afterward, and the unofficial meetups scattered around the convention are where the rest of it actually happens.
