Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N Highland Av…
A whole hillside forgetting to breathe at the same time makes a sound of its own, which is mostly the absence of one. That happens when a voice built for rooms this size stops performing and simply tells you something.
One night, no opening act, no shared billing. A Tony winner, an Emmy nominee, an Oscar nominee, the voice behind Elphaba on film — alone on the largest outdoor stage in the country with nothing to hide behind and no visible interest in hiding. The set is built to prove that the Broadway voice, the pop voice, and the soul voice all live inside one person, and that she has never considered them separate things.
A Thursday evening in October at the Bowl on North Highland, under the shell and the open sky.
If you have ever watched a performance and forgotten your own body was in the room, this is the artist who does that to entire hillsides. Take somebody who has never had it happen.

For a generation that grew up screaming along to Welcome to the Black Parade in bedrooms plastered with band posters, My Chemical Romance at the Hollywood Bowl on October 21 is not just a concert -- it is a summoning. The Bowl's open-air acoustics and the October night sky turn every anthem into something larger than it was on the record, and the crowd will sing louder than the PA system at least twice.
MCR's catalog runs from the raw punk fury of I Brought You My Bullets to the theatrical grandeur of The Black Parade to the synth-soaked Danger Days, and a setlist at the Bowl will pull from all of it. The band has been selective about touring since their reunion, making every announced date feel like it might be the last one for a while. Two nights at the Bowl -- different setlists each -- and both will leave you hoarse.
The Bowl sits at 2301 N Highland Avenue, just off the 101 in the Hollywood Hills.

Somebody takes a space that was never built with you in mind and turns it into a living room. There is a feeling that produces, and it is the entire proposition here. Lauren Halsey grew up in South Central making sculpture out of what the neighborhood left behind: hair salon signs, corner store receipts, the visual language of blocks that do not get gallery shows. Now she takes the whole Bowl. Not just the stage. The grounds, the walkways, the air. Erykah Badu headlines. DJ Pee .Wee, which is Anderson .Paak when he is behind the decks instead of in front of them, opens alongside the Charles Gaines Collective with Black Nile. But music is only one layer. Activations open earlier: miniature golf, ping-pong, roller skating, airbrush stations, the Bowl reassembled as a block party with better acoustics. Halsey calls it emajendat, and the staging is maximalist and technicolor and built to feel like stepping inside one of her pieces. Bring a picnic and the people who will understand why this matters.

Certain voices carry the weight of an entire hemisphere’s memory. Rubén Blades is one of those voices. When he sings “Pedro Navaja” — the seven-minute salsa epic about a street hustler in a Panama barrio — three generations in the audience know every word, and half of them learned it from their abuelas before they understood what the lyrics meant.
This is not a greatest-hits revue. Blades at 78 is a twelve-time Grammy winner, a Harvard Law graduate, a former Minister of Tourism of Panama, and an actor who held his own opposite Harrison Ford. He brings the Roberto Delgado Big Band — a full horn section, the kind of rhythmic precision that makes your hips move before your brain catches up. Opening is Silvana Estrada, the Mexican songwriter who won the 2022 Latin Grammy for Best New Artist and whose voice can fill a room the size of the Bowl without straining.
Under the September stars with salsa horns echoing off the hills, this is the kind of Wednesday night your parents will thank you for bringing them to.

Some nights you go to a concert. Some nights you go to watch an era close. This is the second kind, and the people who understand that will be in those seats whether or not it was a sensible week to spend the money.
Wynton Marsalis has led this orchestra for a generation, turning a big band into the keeper of an entire American art form, and this is his final season directing it. He is spending part of that farewell on John Coltrane, a centennial program for the man who bent the saxophone toward the sacred, played under open sky by the finest big band working today. Lakecia Benjamin opens on saxophone before the orchestra takes up the Coltrane book.
The Hollywood Bowl on a September evening, on the most beautiful stage in Los Angeles. The straight-ahead faithful will be there to mark the end of something. Go sit among them.

She spent fifteen years being the voice of Paramore — the scream at the center of Misery Business, the ache inside The Only Exception, the quiet fury of Hard Times. And then she stepped out alone and discovered that the songs she had been carrying in her own name were the ones she had been circling her whole career. The Hayley Williams Show is the first solo tour, and the Hollywood Bowl is one of two Los Angeles dates.
This is not Paramore unplugged. This is the woman behind three solo albums pulling material from across all of them, plus what she describes as some exciting surprises — and if you know anything about Hayley Williams, the surprises are never small. The Bowl is the room this show deserves: the city spread out below you, the sky turning dark during the first few songs, seventeen thousand people sharing whatever she decides to put into the night air.
Monday, October 5th at seven. The Bowl does not have a bad angle, but the cheap seats are where the sound floats best. Tickets on Ticketmaster — the Face Value Exchange means no scalper markup. If you ever screamed along to Decode in a car with someone who mattered, you already know you are going.

Four notes. That is all it takes — four notes and a grown adult is quietly wrecked in a grocery store aisle. Now put those four notes in front of a full orchestra, under an open sky, with seventeen thousand people getting the same goosebumps at the same instant.
David Newman conducts the LA Phil through the scores that raised most of us — Star Wars, E.T., Indiana Jones, Jaws, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park — with the film clips running on the screen above the players. Williams himself does not conduct in person anymore. It turns out the music never needed him standing there; it does this entirely on its own.
Three nights at the Bowl, picnic boxes and wine and the long ritual of finding your seat as the sun drops behind the hills. The Sunday show is historically the easiest ticket.
Bring the person who has somehow never been to the Bowl. Watch their face on the first downbeat.

Every June 19, the Hollywood Bowl hosts one of its biggest moments of the year. Chance the Rapper brings his Juneteenth celebration to the bowl in 2026 — free, outdoors, and the performer who built his reputation on shows that feel exactly like this.
The Hollywood Bowl seats 17,500 people in the hills above Highland Avenue, with one of the best natural acoustic environments for live performance anywhere in California. Chance's catalog — from Acid Rap to The Big Day — was built for large-format outdoor shows: the gospel-inflected choruses, the crowd-facing improvisation, the way individual songs become communal rituals when he performs them live. A Juneteenth show is not a themed concert. It is the meaning of the music made explicit.
Doors open at 6:30 PM. The show starts at 8:00 PM. The Hollywood Bowl is accessible via the Bowl Shuttle from Highland/Franklin and from the Park & Ride lots at the Sycamore Ave entrance — driving and parking in the adjacent Bowl lots is an option but fills early for high-demand shows. Bring layers; the Bowl cools fast after dark even in June. Tickets at AXS.

You either found them before 'Idol' became the song everyone knew, or you found them because of it, and at this point the distinction has stopped mattering to anyone but you.
The premise was always strange: take a novel, one book, and turn it into a single pop song. It should not work as a career. Instead it produced a catalog that goes far deeper than the one breakthrough — 'Yoru ni Kakeru,' 'Gunjo,' 'Biri-Biri,' the tracks that quietly built an international audience years before the anime crowd arrived — and hearing them performed live, with a full production behind them, is a different animal from the headphones you learned them on.
They do not come through Los Angeles often. Details at yoasobi-music.jp/en.
Send this to the person who sent you the song. That is how this band has always travelled.

A low frequency in an outdoor amphitheater does something no indoor room can replicate — it leaves. It rolls up the hillside and comes back a half-beat late, and for that half-beat the whole canyon is playing the song alongside the band.
Muse turned conspiracy theories and dystopian dread into songs that entire amphitheaters scream in unison, which should not work and has worked for two decades running. Supermassive Black Hole. Uprising. Knights of Cydonia. Starlight. Their production is built for spaces that swallow lesser bands whole, and this is the final date of the North American leg, which usually means nothing gets left in the tank.
Portugal. The Man and The Temper Trap open. Gates in the early evening, general admission and VIP both on offer.
If you have ever wanted to feel a bass drop in your skeleton while the hills go dark around you, this is the night for it. Bring whoever screams loudest.

Some nights the guitars start talking to each other and you just happen to be in the room where it is happening.
Three headliners share this stage for the first time. The Black Crowes bring the Southern swagger that made Shake Your Money Maker an instant classic. Tedeschi Trucks Band brings Derek Trucks — widely considered one of the greatest slide guitarists alive — next to Susan Tedeschi's voice, which could strip paint off a wall in the best possible way. Whiskey Myers brings red-dirt grit that fills honky-tonks and arenas with equal ease.
This is not one headliner and two openers. It is three bands who all have something to prove to each other, outdoors, after dark.

The bench under you is wooden, and it vibrates. That is the detail nobody warns you about — an orchestra playing this score inside a natural amphitheater does not merely get loud, it moves the furniture you are sitting on.
The film runs on the giant screen while the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra plays Faltermeyer, Zimmer, and Lady Gaga live underneath it, Lorne Balfe conducting. This is a film that won an Academy Award for Best Sound, being performed by people standing in front of you, which is about as close to the cockpit as anyone gets without a flight suit. Then the summer air goes dark over the hillside, Danger Zone lands, and seventeen thousand adults briefly forget they are adults.
An evening show at the Bowl, with tickets through the box office.
Take the parent who has watched the original more times than they will ever admit to you.

It ends with cannon fire. Real cannons, synchronized to the score, and fireworks launched from the hill above the bowl until the Hollywood Hills themselves become part of the finale -- visible clear across Hollywood and the western San Fernando Valley. That is how the LA Philharmonic closes the Tchaikovsky Spectacular, and for decades it has been one of the most attended classical music events in the country.
Running multiple nights each July, the program builds through Tchaikovsky's most dramatic orchestral showpieces toward the 1812 Overture, the cannon shots and fireworks timed to the music for the kind of scale no indoor concert hall can touch. The Hollywood Bowl's natural amphitheater, the open-air evening, the orchestral drama, the pyrotechnics -- it adds up to an experience generations of Angelenos have treated as a full night out rather than just a concert, picnicking in the boxes and terrace sections, which is not only permitted but actively encouraged.
Bring the person you want to see a firework reflected in. The Hollywood Bowl is at 2301 N Highland Ave, Hollywood. These are the Bowl's most-attended nights of the season and parking fills hours before showtime, so take the Bowl shuttle from one of the park-and-ride locations.

Live music in a room like Hollywood Bowl has a specific physics: the sound arrives before you've decided how to feel about it, and The Human League With Very Special Guests Soft Cel has always known what to do with that. The Hollywood Bowl's Opening Night marks the start of the summer season at one of the most beloved performance venues in the world — an outdoor amphitheater nestled in the Hollywood Hills where the LA Philharmonic has played for over a century. The 2026 Opening Night is a gala event with special programming that the regular season doesn't replicate, marking the transition from spring to the summer concert season.
The Hollywood Bowl's natural acoustic shell focuses sound across the 18,000-capacity outdoor amphitheater while the hillside setting provides a backdrop of chaparral and the night sky above Hollywood. The venue's design — the white band shell, the terraced seating that gives every section a distinct character — makes the Bowl an architectural experience as much as a performance venue.
Opening Night typically features the LA Philharmonic under its music director with special guest artists or programming designed to celebrate the season's thematic focus. The Box and Terrace sections include catered dining service; the Boxes and covered sections allow picnic arrangements with food and wine brought from home or purchased from the Bowl's restaurants.
The Hollywood Bowl is at 2301 N Highland Ave in Hollywood, accessible from the 101 freeway (Highland Ave exit). Bowl shuttle service from the Park & Ride lots at Lake Avenue, the Hollywood/Highland Metro station, and other satellite locations is the recommended transportation — the Bowl's parking lots fill early and the shuttle significantly reduces the experience friction. Opening Night tickets are premium-priced and should be purchased through the LA Phil website as soon as the season schedule is announced.

Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N Highland Ave, Hollywood. June 7th. Paul Simon at the Hollywood Bowl — one of the most celebrated careers in American music, performing in the amphitheater that is, by almost universal agreement, the most perfect setting for exactly this kind of night.
Paul Simon's catalog is fifty years of some of the most precisely observed songwriting in American music. "The Sound of Silence," "Bridge Over Troubled Water," "Graceland," "Slip Slidin' Away" — the songs that have been carrying people through their lives for generations, performed by their author in the outdoor amphitheater where the hillside and the stars and the summer air turn a concert into something you describe to people who weren't there for the rest of your life.
Tickets at ticketmaster.com. June 7th. The Hollywood Bowl is the venue that makes a Paul Simon concert the event it should always have been. The reserved sections are where you hear every word. The lawn is where you see the whole frame. Get your ticket either way. June at the Bowl with Paul Simon is not the show you describe missing.

Your grandmother would have cried at this and you would have pretended not to notice. That is the honest thing about mariachi — it goes straight past whatever defenses you built in your twenties and finds the part of you that still belongs to a family.
Now put it in the Hollywood Bowl. Thousands of people in that shell under an open sky, trumpets coming back off the hillside, violins carrying up into the dark where the sound finally has somewhere to go. Then fireworks, over a crowd that dressed for the occasion and sings along in a language some of them only half speak and all of them somehow know.
It has been happening for decades now — long enough that people sitting in those seats were brought here as children and are now bringing children of their own.
Bring your mother. Bring your father. Bring whoever taught you the words without ever sitting you down to teach you.

Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N Highland Ave, Hollywood. May 30th. Pitbull at the Hollywood Bowl, with special guest Lil Jon — which is a sentence that describes a night at one of the world's great outdoor amphitheaters where the agenda is having the best possible time and the musical context to support it is considerable.
The Hollywood Bowl with Pitbull and Lil Jon is the specific combination of venue, artist, and temperature that produces a summer night you'll be describing in September. The Bowl's outdoor setting gives the production room to expand — the light show, the video walls, the bass frequency in open air — while the hillside and the stars do the rest. The catalog covers everything from "Give Me Everything" to "Yeah!" and the crowd that knows all of it is going to be loud.
Tickets at ticketmaster.com. May 30th. The Hollywood Bowl sells from the reserved sections first; the lawn is the social version. Hollywood Bowl, May 23rd, 2026. Bright Eyes — Conor Oberst, performing the complete "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning" and "Digital Ash in a Digital Urn" twenty-one years after those albums were released in the same week and changed the conversation about what indie rock and folk-rock could do simultaneously.
Both albums exist in the specific memory of the person who heard them at seventeen in a way that almost nothing else from that era does. The writing was too specific, too exposed, too unlikely to have come from anywhere but the actual interior of a person living through exactly what the songs described. Twenty-one years later, those people are in their late thirties, and the Hollywood Bowl is where this reckoning happens.
The Hollywood Bowl is the right venue. The outdoor amphitheater, the Los Angeles evening, the hills behind the shell — the setting earns both albums at full size. Tickets at ticketmaster.com. The lawn is the social option; the reserved sections are the full theatrical experience. Either way, "Lua" performed live at the Hollywood Bowl in 2026 is not the same song it was in 2005, and hearing it in a room full of people for whom that's true is the only way to find out what it became.

Mac DeMarco built a career out of sounding like he does not care, which takes more care than most people realize. The slacker-rock tone, the gap-toothed grin, the songs that sound like they were recorded on a four-track in a friend's garage — all of it is precision disguised as nonchalance. At the Hollywood Bowl, that disguise becomes absurd in the best way: one of the most casually brilliant guitar players of his generation, performing in one of the most elegant outdoor venues in the world, for an audience that showed up in shorts and flip-flops because Mac would not have it any other way. The Bowl's natural acoustics turn the jangly guitar lines into something the hills amplify and the evening air softens. The setlist will be whatever Mac feels like playing, which is half the charm and all of the point. Friday, October 9. Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N Highland Ave, Los Angeles.

Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett turned a pandemic podcast into one of the biggest live shows in comedy by doing exactly what they do on the microphone — talking to each other like three friends who happen to be famous and occasionally remember to interview the guest. SmartLess Live at the Hollywood Bowl puts that dynamic in front of 17,500 people, and the magic is that it still feels like eavesdropping on a conversation you were never supposed to hear. The celebrity guest is unannounced until they walk onstage. The bits are unscripted. The arguments about whose turn it is to ask a question are real. Nov 16 – Nov 18, 2026

Dodger Stadium, 1000 Vin Scully Av…
Tyler the Creator builds his festival the way he makes his albums — as a complete vision, not a lineup. The 2026 edition runs November 16–17 at Dodger Stadium: Tyler himself, Andre 3000, Erykah Badu, Playboi Carti, Earl Sweatshirt, Vince Staples, Daniel Caesar. Sixty thousand people. This is his current read on what matters. Flog Gnaw feels nothing like a conventional music festival. Tyler's aesthetic — Golf Wang colors, surrealist visual direction, Converse collabs, the cartoon universe he's been building since Odd Future — pervades every inch of the grounds. The headliner list reads like Tyler's personal taste index rather than a booking agency's safe plays: Andre 3000's rare public appearances, Earl Sweatshirt's deliberately sparse touring schedule, legacy artists like Erykah Badu alongside younger voices. The surprise guest tradition is genuine — in past years unannounced performers have drawn more conversation than the headliners. The crowd skews young, fashion-conscious, and culturally literate in a way that is self-selecting. Flog Gnaw is the festival where people bring cameras for the fits, not just the performances. This is for people whose music listening doesn't fit a single genre label — who have Tyler the Creator, Badu, Earl, and Daniel Caesar on the same playlist and see nothing contradictory about that. It is for the aesthetically curious. It is not for people who want clear setlist times, grid-pattern stages, and predictable headliner slots. Tyler runs his festival on his own logic, and that's the point. If that energy resonates, Camp Flog Gnaw is one of the few festivals where the curation is unambiguously the product. Two-day passes sell significantly faster than single-day. The Dodger Stadium location is accessible by Metro (Dodger Stadium Express from Union Station — skip the parking). Merchandise drops at Flog Gnaw are serious and sell out quickly; the Golf Wang collabs available only at the festival have become collector items. Arrive early day one — the grounds have carnival rides, food, and art installations that reward exploration before the headliners. Andre 3000's live appearances remain rare enough to justify the trip from anywhere in the country. Tyler the Creator built a world — Golf Wang, Odd Future, Igor, Call Me If You Get Lost, Cherry Bomb — and Flog Gnaw is where that world becomes a place you can stand in for two days. The music industry produces thousands of festivals. Very few of them feel like they could only exist because one specific person willed them into being. Flog Gnaw is one of them. Tickets at Ticketmaster. November 16-17, 2026, Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles.

Some performances exist because they are scheduled. The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center exists because New York City needs it — the way a city needs its bridges or its park, something that holds the place together by being exactly where it always is when the temperature drops.
George Balanchine choreographed this version of The Nutcracker in 1954, and New York City Ballet has performed it every holiday season since. It is not the only Nutcracker in the world, but it is the one that defined what the word means to most Americans — the growing Christmas tree that seems to rise past the ceiling, the snow scene that uses real-looking flakes falling in a way that makes the audience hold its breath, the second act's parade of dances from around the world, each one a tiny jewel of a thing that lasts just long enough to leave you wanting more.
The 2026-2027 season runs from Friday, November 27, 2026 through Sunday, January 3, 2027 at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, West 63rd Street and Columbus Avenue. Tickets go on sale in September at nycballet.com or by phone at 212-496-0600. Prices range depending on seat location and performance date, but matinees tend to be slightly less expensive and equally magical.
The production itself is massive — the sets were designed by Rouben Ter-Arutunian and have been meticulously maintained and restored over the decades. The Christmas tree grows from 12 feet to over 40 feet during the transformation scene, a piece of stagecraft that still draws gasps from audiences who know exactly when it is coming. The cast draws from NYCB's full company plus students from the School of American Ballet, meaning you are watching the next generation of American ballet share a stage with its current one.
The final performance on January 3 at 1 PM is a special physical-friendly show with adjusted lighting and sound levels, relaxed house policies, designated break areas, and pre-visit materials — designed so that families who might not attend a traditional performance can experience the ballet in a setting that works for them.
This is the kind of event where a first-time visitor cries during the snow scene and cannot explain why, and a season ticket holder who has seen it forty times watches the same scene and still leans forward. Lincoln Center at the holidays is its own kind of pilgrimage — the fountain lit up, the tree in the plaza, the crowd filing in. If you have never been, go. If you have been, go again. The Nutcracker does not change, but you do, and the performance meets you wherever you are.

Picture a nightclub at ten on the Friday after Thanksgiving where the drop is the key change in Defying Gravity and six hundred people scream it at a ceiling. That is the whole product and it is not a joke - it is a real touring club night that sells out rooms across the country because it solved a problem nobody was addressing: theatre kids grew up, still want to go out, and do not want to hear house music. So the DJ plays Hamilton into Mamma Mia into Rent, the floor knows every lyric and every gesture, and strangers perform choreography at each other with total sincerity. Go with one friend who did drama and watch a version of them you have not met. Twenty-one and over, late start, and the crowd arrives already knowing what it is - which is what makes it work. Teragram Ballroom, downtown Los Angeles, the night after the holiday.

Somewhere in this city tonight there is a back room where the pinball never stopped — machines everyone assumed died with the arcades, lined up, lit up, and played for blood by people who know each ruleset cold. You thought it was nostalgia. They kept it a sport.
Once a month the league runs a real tournament: matchplay, a new opponent and a random machine every round, points stacking across the night. It is IFPA-sanctioned, but that is not why the regulars come. A good table is the most honest machine there is. It does not care who you are, only whether you can read the ball.
Here is what outsiders never expect: this crowd wants you to get good. Show up knowing only how to keep a ball alive and someone ranked will lean over between rounds and show you where the safe nudge is, when to let it drain on purpose.
Venues rotate. Check the league's Facebook group and the IFPA calendar for this month's location. All-ages at most stops, 21+ at the bars.
