Santa Anita Park, 285 W Huntington…
The person you are buying for does not need another gift card. They need to walk through a maze made of a million Christmas lights and forget, for ninety minutes, that December is supposed to be stressful.
Enchant Christmas arrives at Santa Anita Park for its Los Angeles debut, and what they built is unreasonable — the world's largest Christmas light maze threading through the historic racetrack grounds, an ice skating trail that loops through the installations instead of sitting in a parking lot, and a holiday village where the vendors actually made the things they are selling. Entry begins at 5:30 PM when the sun is just low enough for the lights to win.
The maze is not a walk-through tunnel. It is a puzzle — paths that branch, dead ends that reward you with a view you would have missed on the straight route, and enough square footage that the crowd never feels like a crowd. Children run ahead. Couples slow down. The person who said they did not want to come is the last one to leave.
Santa Anita's architecture does most of the heavy lifting. The Art Deco grandstand lit from below looks like it was designed for this, and the infield becomes an alpine village that smells like kettle corn and pine. The ice skating trail winds through themed zones instead of going in circles, and there is a snow slide for the family whose youngest member has never seen snow.
November 20 through December 28, 2026, nightly. Tickets at enchantchristmas.com. The lights are the excuse. The feeling is the product.

Santa Anita Park, 285 W Huntington…
You can stand at the walking ring with a general admission ticket and watch a top-class thoroughbred saddled up close, the San Gabriel Mountains rising straight behind the paddock - it is one of the enduring images of American horse racing, and it is open to you. This track has been a fixture of Southern California life since 1934.
The fall stakes program includes several Grade I and Grade II races that pull horses from beyond California - trainers targeting the Breeders' Cup championships in November use these fall races as condition tests. The Santa Anita handicaps and the Oak Tree Racing Association's fall program deliver a quality of racing uncommon in the fall California calendar, and the paddock is the best place in American racing to see these horses before a stakes race.
Santa Anita Park is at 285 W Huntington Dr in Arcadia, reachable from the I-210 and US-210, with the Metro L Line at Arcadia station connecting to a free race-day shuttle. On-site parking. General admission covers the apron, grandstand, and paddock; clubhouse and terrace upgrades are available. Racing runs Friday through Sunday and select Mondays through early November 2026.

Santa Anita Park, 285 West Hunting…
The heat comes off the asphalt and the whole lot smells like ten countries at once — charcoal and frying oil and brown sugar and something skewered you cannot name yet but will be eating in four minutes.
This is the night the San Gabriel Valley throws its doors open, and if you grew up near it, walking in feels less like arriving at an event than coming home to one. Thirteen years and 2.3 million people through the gates have made it an institution.
The food is the gravity. Hundreds of stalls, the forty-minute lines worth every minute, the one you only find because a stranger two people ahead told you to. But it is not only food: indie artists, fashion racks, live sets, and a crowd that finally looks like the actual breadth of Asian-American Southern California instead of a sliver of it.
June 19-21, 2026, 3 to 11 PM nightly. Santa Anita Park, 285 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia — off the 210, parking on-site. Entry about $6, cash past the gate.
Come hungry enough to regret nothing.

Santa Anita Park, 285 W Huntington…
They believed a parking lot could become the most culturally specific address in Los Angeles for a weekend, if the right food and the right community showed up together. The 626 Night Market proved that belief correct at scale — and in 2026, it returns to Santa Anita Park for the first summer weekend in June.
Over 200 vendors spread across the grounds, most of them rotating dishes that don't exist on restaurant menus: regional Taiwanese street food, Hong Kong egg waffles with flavors designed at midnight, Thai rolled ice cream, Japanese kakigori, versions of Filipino desserts that require explanation. The entertainment stages run throughout, and the crowd — tens of thousands across the three days — is as much the attraction as the food.
This is the community event that defines the San Gabriel Valley's summer. It runs Friday through Sunday, 3pm to 10:40pm. Arrive after dark if you want the atmosphere the market was designed for.
Free parking. Advance tickets available at 626nightmarket.com. June 19–21, 2026. Santa Anita Park, 285 W Huntington Dr, Arcadia.

Various venues, Los Angeles, CA
Somewhere in this city tonight there is a back room where the pinball never stopped — machines everyone assumed died with the arcades, lined up, lit up, and played for blood by people who know each ruleset cold. You thought it was nostalgia. They kept it a sport.
Once a month the league runs a real tournament: matchplay, a new opponent and a random machine every round, points stacking across the night. It is IFPA-sanctioned, but that is not why the regulars come. A good table is the most honest machine there is. It does not care who you are, only whether you can read the ball.
Here is what outsiders never expect: this crowd wants you to get good. Show up knowing only how to keep a ball alive and someone ranked will lean over between rounds and show you where the safe nudge is, when to let it drain on purpose.
Venues rotate. Check the league's Facebook group and the IFPA calendar for this month's location. All-ages at most stops, 21+ at the bars.

Riot Games Arena, 12181 Bluff Cree…
Every region sends its dark horses, and most of them go home in the first week. That is what makes the opening stage the most nervous, least predictable stretch of the whole tournament.
The Play-In Stage is where teams that did not walk in with a guaranteed bracket spot have to earn one, on foreign soil, against opponents they have only ever studied on video. Nothing is safe and nobody is comfortable. Upsets that reshape the entire championship happen here, in front of a few hundred people, before the broadcast audience has fully tuned in.
Riot Games Arena is the tightest, loudest room in North American esports — small enough that crowd noise reaches the stage, close enough to watch a player's posture change when a fight goes wrong. From inside that building it is a different sport.
Riot Games Arena, 12181 Bluff Creek Dr, Playa Vista. October 15-18. Tickets through lolesports.com.
If you have only ever watched it on stream, this is the one to go to.

Los Angeles Convention Center, 120…
You will be tired in a way that feels earned. Four days, a hundred thousand people, and not one of them needs you to explain what you are talking about.
The largest anime convention in North America takes the Los Angeles Convention Center over Fourth of July weekend and spills into the JW Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton beside it. Industry panels, screening rooms, autograph sessions with voice actors and composers, concerts that sell out weeks ahead. Studios from Japan use this as their main North American announcement stage — if a sequel or adaptation is being revealed, it often happens in a room you could be standing in.
The exhibit hall carries imported merchandise and collaboration exclusives that surface nowhere else on the continent.
Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 S Figueroa St. Thursday through Sunday. Badges run from top-tier early-access down to single-day passes.
Book the connected hotel corridor months out. Everyone who tells you that learned it the hard way.

You do not need a group, a character, or any idea what you are doing. That is the entire design.
Drop in on a Thursday evening, pick up a pregenerated character sheet, and join a table — mid-campaign or at the start of something fresh. Dungeon Masters are provided. Dice are provided. Rules questions are not tolerated so much as encouraged.
Tables sort by Tier, so a first-time player rolling their first d20 sits with other new characters instead of getting lost behind a party three levels deep. If you already have a D&D Beyond character in Adventurers League legal format, bring it — after tonight it is recognized at any AL table anywhere in the world, which is the quietly remarkable part of organized play.
Game Empire SD, 5037 Shawline St, San Diego — a dedicated tabletop store with real event space and staff who know the rules. Parking on-site. Most sessions need no reservation; check the store calendar.
The only bad session is the one you did not show up for.

Coast Hwy & Pier View Way, Oceansi…
The Pacific is a block away.
Every Thursday evening from 5 to 9 PM, the corner of Coast Highway and Pier View Way becomes the Oceanside Sunset Market — vendors, food, live music, and the light that only happens when you're that close to the water at that hour.
The beach-town market that runs when the day is actually good. Local makers, artisans, food vendors, and the crowd that comes out because the evening earned it.
The vendor mix is Oceanside-specific: local crafts, art, jewelry, produce, and the food vendors that the beach corridor supports. The live music stage runs throughout the evening. The Oceanside Pier is visible from the market — the setting does work the vendors don't have to.
Free to attend. Parking available near the Pier. Every Thursday, May through September, 5-9 PM. Oceanside, California. The market runs through marine layer some evenings. The cooler Pacific air is part of the draw, not a reason to stay home.

Bayard St and Garnet Ave, Pacific …
A hundred and fifty steps from the ocean, a corner of Pacific Beach turns into a block party that nobody had to organize you into.
Fire pits going. Nine to twelve food vendors rotating week to week, so the thing you loved last time might be gone and the thing replacing it might be better. Live music that is genuinely local — acoustic sets, small bands, the occasional DJ. Games. A crowd of PB locals and students and people who simply wandered up from the beach still holding a towel.
Past vendors have run birria tacos, banh mi, craft lemonade, Hawaiian shave ice, artisan pastries, small-batch hot sauces. A few craft sellers usually set up alongside.
This is a neighborhood gathering, not a ticketed event. Free. No RSVP. You walk up.
Bayard St and Garnet Ave, Pacific Beach. 5 to 9:30 PM.
Bring a layer — it cools off fast after sunset, even in August.
