Bass house is what happened when somebody decided UK garage needed to be angrier. It is not a subtle genre and it does not want to be, and there is a real pleasure in a room that has stopped pretending otherwise.
AC Slater runs Night Bass, a label and party that spent a decade building the American home for this sound almost entirely outside the festival circuit — club rooms, a devoted mailing list, and a crowd that treats the label like a team they support. That is an unusual thing to have built in dance music, where most brands are a logo on a stage. Night Bass nights have regulars who recognize each other.
Halloween weekend on Hollywood Boulevard, which means the costumes will be committed and the room will be at capacity by midnight.
Doors at ten on Friday the thirtieth, running until three.

Somebody has to make the enormous records. Not every night wants a challenging one, and there is an honest craft in building something designed to work on twenty thousand people at once.
Morten is the Danish producer who spent years developing what he and David Guetta named future rave — a harder, darker take on big-room built for main stages, and a sound that got copied fast enough that its origin is already getting forgotten. Hearing it in a Hollywood club of a few hundred rather than a festival field is a genuinely different experience: the production is designed for distance, so up close it hits considerably harder than intended.
Halloween night proper, on the boulevard, and the room will be entirely in costume.
Ten at night on Saturday the thirty-first.

Most club nights are built around a handoff — somebody plays an hour, the room resets, you start reading the crowd again from scratch. The reason people drive in for this one is that it refuses to do that. One crew, one booth, the whole night, which means hour four is allowed to sound nothing like hour one and still belong to the same evening.
Desert Hearts came out of the California desert as a campout where the dancefloor never stopped, and the thing that followed them indoors is not a sound so much as a set of manners: people introduce themselves, nobody films the drop, the front rail is not a status object. Bringing Justin Martin in for an all-night format is the tell that this is aimed at the people who already know how it goes rather than at a lineup poster. Anyone who has done a sunrise in Los Coyotes will recognise the pacing immediately.
Ten at night, Hollywood Boulevard, and it goes as long as it goes. Somewhere in the desert there is a version of this with no roof on it.

Every scene has a year that its people will defend to the death, and for a certain age bracket that year is 2012. The records were enormous and slightly stupid and made for festival fields, and admitting you still love them is a small act of courage.
Nicky Romero was one of the architects. The Dutch wave of that era — big rooms, bigger drops, melodies engineered to work at a distance of two hundred metres — reshaped what mainstream dance music sounded like for the rest of the decade. He has kept working through every subsequent fashion, which means the sets now move between the old anthems and whatever he thinks is worth playing tonight.
Hollywood Boulevard on the first Friday of October, doors at ten, going until three.

Trance is the genre people apologize for liking. It got left behind by every publication that decides which music counts, and the fans stayed anyway, which is why a trance room feels less like a club and more like a reunion of people who were told their thing was over and quietly declined to agree.
Nic Chagall and Bossi have been at it since 1999. Two Germans, thirty-odd years of records between them, and a live approach built entirely around the long build — the thing trance does that no other dance genre commits to, where a track spends four full minutes climbing before it gives you anything. In a room full of people who know exactly when the drop lands, the moment before it is better than the drop.
The Hollywood Boulevard room has the ceiling height this music needs.
Saturday the twenty-sixth, doors at ten, running to three.

Somebody decided the World Cup Final should not be watched in a sports bar. Or on a couch. They built a room where the music is scored to the match, where the drop hits when the goal does, and where the crews curating each night — Afrobeats To The World, Gasolina, Reggaeton Rave, Haitian Spotlight — have spent the entire tournament running toward this single night.
July 19 at Academy LA is Copa Del Rave's last match. The Wednesday night DJ residencies since the group stage have all been rehearsals for this room. The first half hour after the final whistle, regardless of who lifts the trophy, is the moment people who came to these parties will remember for the rest of their lives.
The crowd is the rare one where soccer culture and electronic music are not pretending to coexist. The 2026 Final happens on US soil for the first time since 1994. Most of LA will watch it on a screen with the sound off. The room at Academy LA will be the one place in the city where the sound is the whole point.
Academy LA, 6021 Hollywood Blvd. Doors at 9 PM. 21+. Tickets at academy.la. This is the kind of night that defines what World Cup summer felt like in Los Angeles in 2026.

Los Angeles has an unexpected World Cup tradition: part soccer watch party, part EDM rave, part cultural celebration. Copa Del Rave turns FIFA match days into full-scale events at Academy LA.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup Quarterfinals (July 4-5) bring Copa Del Rave to its peak intensity. Match nights pair live DJ sets from world-class talent — including Claude VonStroke, Ardalan, DJ Minx, and curator crews representing Afrobeats, Reggaeton, Haitian, and Brazilian musical communities — with live soccer on the big screen, multi-room sound, and the kind of crowd energy that only happens when your country is playing.
What makes Copa Del Rave different from a normal sports bar: the music is not background. The DJs set the emotional tempo of the match. When your team scores, the drop hits. The diaspora crews — Afrobeats To The World, Gasolina, Reggaeton Rave, Haitian Spotlight — turn each match into a cultural homecoming. Fans who have never been to a rave and ravers who have never watched soccer both belong here.
QF Watch Parties run July 4-5 at Academy LA (Hollywood). Tickets available at Academy LA and copadelrave.com. 21+. Doors open at 9pm.
