Pacific Electric, 1729 Naud St, Lo…
Some records just sound like a convertible at golden hour, and this band built an entire catalog out of that one feeling. Sun-warmed synth-pop with a disco spine, engineered so precisely for movement that standing still starts to feel like a personal failing.
The Australian outfit behind Sometimes and Holidays is a different proposition live than on record. The studio gloss comes off, an actual band pushes every song harder than the version in your headphones, and the warehouse room over on Naud Street suits them for it: concrete, height, and enough space for a floor to bounce instead of shuffle. This is the antidote to a season of dark rooms and brooding sets. All lift, all shimmer, hands up through the entire back half.
Downtown Los Angeles, doors in the evening. Round up the people who treat a dance floor as the entire reason to leave the house.

Two of the strangest minds in dark music almost never share a stage, which is the entire reason this one matters.
The Tear Garden is what happens when cEvin Key of Skinny Puppy and Edward Ka-Spel spend decades collaborating with nobody asking them to be commercial about it. The result sounds like a fever dream narrated by someone who has read too many banned books — psychedelic, menacing, patient, and unlike anything else the genre produces. It tours so rarely that catching it feels less like buying a ticket and more like confirming a rumor in person.
The venue's warehouse room suits the disorientation exactly. Concrete, low light, nowhere for the sound to politely go.
Go in prepared to have your sense of what a concert is quietly dismantled. Then drag along the person who claims nothing surprises them anymore, and watch that claim fall apart in real time.

If you spent the late nineties in black jeans and a permanent scowl, this bill is a time machine with the dial set to your best worst year.
Stabbing Westward built anthems out of romantic devastation, 'Save Yourself' and 'Shame' among them, and they anchor a full night of the era's industrial heavy hitters: PIG, 16 Volt, Acumen Nation, all on one stage in a restored rail-yard building downtown that was made to take this much volume. The low end has somewhere to go in a room like that, which is exactly why these bands sound wrong in a normal club. It is a reunion for a scene that never actually broke up. It went home, got jobs, and kept the records.
Naud Street in downtown Los Angeles, one night, doors in the evening.
Come scream the choruses you have been muttering in the car for twenty-five years. The eyeliner is optional. The catharsis is not.

Somewhere between the kick drum and the static — where melody dissolves into texture and the low end becomes a physical object in your sternum — sits a frequency only certain people can hear. If you are still reading, you already know what it sounds like.
This one started as a memorial and turned into the annual gathering point for everybody who ever found salvation in a drum machine. Two nights. The first is Stabbing Westward marking thirty years of Wither, Blister, Burn & Peel, with PIG, 16 Volt, and Acumen Nation on a bill that reads like a time capsule from when the genre still felt dangerous. The second belongs to The Black Queen, whose glacial synths keep quietly redefining what this music can feel like, with Forever Grey, NGHTCRWLR, Houses of Heaven, GRIZZ CLL, and Snakes of Russia proving the scene is not looking backward.
Downtown Los Angeles, in the newest large-format room in the city. Two-day passes and single-night tickets through AXS.
This is not a show you watch. It is a show that watches you back.

Pacific Electric in Los Angeles: the floor, the monitors, the ceiling that amplifies everything — live rock at this scale is a different frequency than anything a speaker can reproduce. Netflix Is A Joke performs at Pacific Electric in Los Angeles on May 7, 2026. 18+. Live shows at rooms this size leave a different imprint than arenas — the ones who go remember the set list; the ones who don't remember the night they said no.

Some shows exist because the room and the artist are the right match — CALIFORNIA CHAOS at Pacific Electric in Los Angeles is one of those, the kind of night the regulars mention for months. CALIFORNIA CHAOS performs at Pacific Electric in Los Angeles on April 11, 2026. The people in the room carry it differently than the people who watched the stream.
