The Book of Mormon — Segerstrom Hall, Costa Mesa

Nobody plans the stretch between Christmas and the first Monday back. It is six days of eating leftovers in a dim room and losing track of which one it is, and the only thing that reliably rescues it is going somewhere with other people who are also pretending the year has already started. Sixteen years on, this one still gets away with everything. The score is built like genuine musical theatre — the Act One closer is constructed the way a Rodgers and Hammerstein number is constructed, which is exactly why the joke lands — and the touring company plays it straight rather than winking, which is the whole trick. The run covers New Year's Day and both weekend matinees, so there is a version of this that fits whatever shape your week collapsed into. Segerstrom Hall, Tuesday December 29, 2026 through Sunday January 3, 2027. Evenings at 7:30pm, matinees earlier.
