Padres NLDS Home Game 3 - Petco Park
Oct 6, 2026 Limited availability Petco Park, 100 Park Blvd, San Die…

The sound a sold-out Petco Park makes in October is different and everyone who has heard it will tell you so without being asked. Not louder exactly - lower, more like the building itself is involved. This city waited a long time for home playoff baseball to be an ordinary expectation rather than a once-a-decade accident, and this is the night the series comes back from Milwaukee with everything still to decide. The Padres swept the Cubs to get here and then opened this round on the road against the top seed, which means the first pitch downtown lands on a crowd that has spent four days watching on other people's televisions and wants a turn. Gaslamp fills from about four o'clock. The Park at the Park fills with people who never got a ticket and come anyway, which is its own argument about what this team is to this town, and the view from that lawn over the right field wall is better than it has any business being. First pitch is six thirty on a Tuesday. Bring a layer; the marine air comes over the bleachers once the sun drops behind the Western Metal building.

Petco Park Interactive Zone — Free SDCC Offsite Experience 2026
Jul 23, 2026 Lexus Premier Lot, 100 Park Blvd, …

You do not need a badge to feel like Comic-Con found you. The Interactive Zone at Petco Park is the largest free Comic-Con experience in San Diego — a sprawling lot of brand activations, pop-up shops, food vendors, and cosplay photo ops that turns the Lexus Premier Lot into a theme park for anyone who has ever loved a fictional world more than they can explain. This year's lineup includes MaruMart, an immersive walk-through of a Japanese convenience store from Maruchan with SDCC-exclusive merchandise and surprise giveaways. The Hello Kitty Cafe Truck rolls in with macarons, madeleines, and custom quarter-zips. KAYOU's Walls of Fandom celebrates trading card culture with large-format displays. The Labu'Tique Farmers Market brings Labubus, Squishy Toys, Jelly Cats, and Needohs — the kind of plush haul your inner child has been waiting for. Open Thursday July 23 through Sunday July 26, 10am to 5pm daily (4pm on Sunday). Located in the Lexus Premier Lot next to Petco Park, just across the Harbor Drive pedestrian bridge from the convention center. Free entry. No badge required. Bring the kids, bring the cosplay, bring the energy.

KAYOU Walls of Fandom — SDCC 2026 at Petco Park
Jul 23 – Jul 26, 2026 Petco Park Interactive Zone, 100 P…

The walls are ten feet tall and covered in trading card art you have been staring at on your phone screen for months — except now the colors are the size of your entire body and you are standing inside the frame. KAYOU makes its San Diego Comic-Con debut in 2026 with the Walls of Fandom, a free immersive walkthrough experience at the Interactive Zone at Petco Park. This is KAYOU's first convention appearance, and they brought everything: larger-than-life installations inspired by their trading card lines spanning Naruto, My Little Pony, Demon Slayer, and K-pop collectibles. The experience is a love letter to the artwork behind the cards — the craftsmanship that usually lives behind a plastic sleeve, blown up to a scale where you can finally see the brushstrokes. Beyond the walls: on-site card purchasing, a fan meetup at Tito Rick's Garage (2918 Imperial Ave) on Friday July 24 from 5-9pm with trading sessions and casual My Little Pony TCG play, and the SDCC-exclusive Superfan Passport — collect stamps across KAYOU's three locations and unlock rewards. July 23-26, 10am-5pm daily (Sunday until 4pm). Free admission, no badge required.

San Diego Padres vs Philadelphia Phillies at Petco Park
May 25, 2026 100 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101

Memorial Day weekend at Petco Park. The Phillies come to San Diego on May 25th carrying the particular energy of a team that travels well — Philadelphia fans follow their teams, they make noise in the opposing park, and they make the crowd around them feel the game harder. That friction is the best version of a regular season game. The Petco Park experience in late May is what drew people to baseball in the first place: the temperature is right, the sun drops into the outfield seats around the fifth inning, and the park fills with people who decided that today is the kind of day you don't spend indoors. The Phillies are a legitimate postseason contender, which means nothing about May 25th is throwaway. The Padres rotation and the bullpen dynamics that have been building all spring face a real test. Right field bleachers for the atmosphere. Infield seats for the angles. Either way you leave having watched real baseball, in the right park, in the right city, at the right time of year. Check mlb.com/padres for availability. The Tommy John stand behind left field is not optional. Memorial Day weekend at Petco has a specific energy — the holiday, the stakes, the crowd that showed up for both.

San Diego Padres vs Chicago Cubs at Petco Park
Apr 27, 2026 100 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101

The Chicago Cubs come to Petco Park starting April 27 in one of the most historically weighted pairings in the National League. The Cubs travel with one of baseball's largest and most vocal fan bases — there will be Cub blue in the left-field bleachers and along the first-base line before the first pitch is thrown, a reliable feature of any Chicago visit to any National League park. But Petco Park in April is one of the most beautiful baseball environments in the major leagues: the views from the upper deck toward the bay, the Gaslamp Quarter skyline visible over the left-field wall, and the Padres faithful showing a visiting crowd exactly what San Diego baseball looks like when the team is playing with purpose. April against the Cubs at Petco is not a casual visit — it is a reminder that the National League West intends to make its presence felt against a storied franchise.

Padres vs. SF Giants
Jul 30 – Aug 3, 2026 From $20 Petco Park, 100 Park Blvd, San Die…

There is a Bay Area transplant living three doors down from you in San Diego, and when the Giants come to town he wears the colors to Petco without apology - the right-field bleachers take on a whole different character during this series. This is the oldest rivalry in the NL West, thirty-plus years of two California clubs fighting over the same playoff real estate, playing each other more than any out-of-division opponent. Late July at Petco is the stadium in full summer mode: weeknight sold-outs, the NL West standings close enough that three games directly move the pennant picture. The Giants travel with one of the most geographically concentrated and loyal away fan bases in baseball, which gives the whole series an edge a divisional midweek set usually lacks. This one matters. Show up for it. The San Francisco Giants visit Petco Park on July 30.

Padres Star Wars Weekend — Fireworks Night vs Oakland Athletics
May 23, 2026 100 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101

Come early. The pregame cosplay in the Gaslamp is its own event — lightsabers, full character builds, families where every member is a different character from the same film. By the time first pitch arrives, you've already been somewhere. Petco Park hosts Star Wars Weekend on Saturday night against the Oakland Athletics, with fireworks after the game over Mission Bay. One of the few games that sells out before mid-season. If you're going, the ticket decision is now, not later. The fireworks are better from inside the park. You'll understand why when they start.

So-Cal Cosplay Shoot — Balboa Park
Monthly · Next Oct 17 Balboa Park, 1549 El Prado, San Di…

Somebody spent six months on a foam pauldron and somebody else bought their costume online last Tuesday, and for one morning in the most photogenic park in San Diego, nobody cares which one you are. That is the whole premise. So-Cal Cosplay Scene runs it as an open call — any fandom, any level of build, no entry requirements, no competition, no hierarchy. The Spanish Colonial Revival facades do the production work for you: a Zelda build photographs against the museum walls like a production still, and a Star Wars costume catches the fountain light in ways that should not be possible from a public park. It starts in the morning, when the light is good and the park is still quiet. Photographers are welcome and encouraged — bring your gear. Follow @socosplayscene for the gathering point. Just come. That is the entire instruction, and it is the only one that has ever mattered here.

Austin City Limits Music Festival 2026 (Weekend Two) - Austin, TX
Tomorrow · Oct 9 3-day and single-day passes Zilker Park, 2100 Barton Springs R…

Eight bands deep into a Saturday, standing in a flat green bowl with the Austin skyline going gold behind the main stage, you stop keeping track of which set you came for. That is the whole proposition of the Austin City Limits Music Festival 2026 - one of America's defining music weekends, a nine-stage festival held every October in Zilker Park a few minutes from downtown Austin, Texas, drawing well over four hundred thousand people across two consecutive weekends. 2026 is the twenty-fifth anniversary, which matters because ACL began as a local extension of a public television taping and became the event that turned Austin's self-description as the Live Music Capital of the World from a slogan into something defensible. Weekend Two runs Friday October 9 through Sunday October 11. What it actually feels like is a city park that has been temporarily colonised by sound. Zilker is flat, open and enormous, and because the stages ring the perimeter you spend the day walking across a green bowl with music arriving from three directions at once. October in Texas is not autumn; it is eighty-five degrees and humid with very little shade, and the single thing that surprises first-timers most is how physical the day becomes. The crowd is noticeably broader than at a destination desert festival - families with wagons, students from the university up the road, people in their sixties who have been coming since the first year. At dusk the downtown skyline lights up directly behind the main stage, and that image is the one everybody takes home. Is it worth it? If you are the kind of person who would rather see eight bands you half-know than one band you already love, yes, emphatically. This is a discovery festival. It is not for anyone who needs a guaranteed front-row view of a single headliner, and it is not a luxury experience - the ground is dirt and the queues are real. The 2026 bill is deliberately genre-fluid: Charli XCX, Lorde, Twenty One Pilots, Rufus Du Sol and The xx play both weekends, while Kings of Leon are Weekend Two only, alongside Natasha Bedingfield, Houndmouth and Bella Kay. Turnstile, Labrinth, Young Miko, Geese, Bleachers, Sofi Tukker, Parcels, The Chainsmokers and The War On Drugs fill out the middle of the bill, which is where a festival is actually won. What to know before you go: Weekend Two is the locals' weekend. Crowds are slightly thinner, security lines move faster, and hotel rates run ten to twenty per cent below Weekend One - the same lineup for less money and less friction, which is why experienced attendees quietly prefer it. Bring an empty refillable bottle; there are free water stations throughout and dehydration is the most common reason people leave early. Wear closed-toe shoes you do not care about. Check the bag policy before you leave the hotel, because it changes year to year and the walk back is long. And go to an early-afternoon set: the field is half empty, the artists are often better than their slot, and by four o'clock every path is a queue. ACL is on this list because it is the clearest American example of a festival that belongs to its city rather than to a promoter's circuit. Twenty-five years in, the lineup is a reasonable snapshot of what the country is listening to, assembled in a park that residents use the other fifty-one weekends of the year. Tickets for Weekend Two are sold as three-day passes and single days, and they move.

New York Comic Con 2026 — New York, NY
Today · Oct 8 – Oct 11 From $45 (1-day) Jacob K. Javits Convention Center,…

The Javits Center in October, a hundred thousand people in four days, every niche of pop culture in one building — and the streets of Hell's Kitchen turning into something you've never seen on a regular Tuesday. The Javits Center fills with a programmatic density that rewards strategic planning. Main stage panels feature talent from the year's biggest genre properties. The show floor covers hundreds of thousands of square feet of publishers, studios, collectibles vendors, and artist booths. Artist Alley at NYCC skews heavily toward comics — the original fanbase — alongside anime, gaming, and TV, giving it a different character than conventions that have shifted more entirely toward film and streaming. The autograph and photo op schedule is extensive; tickets for specific sessions go on sale in advance and sell out. New York Comic Con in 2026 is celebrating twenty years, and the Coney Island theme suggests organizers are going big on identity and atmosphere. The anniversary edition will likely bring programming and exclusives designed for the occasion. If you have been considering NYCC as a destination event, this is the year to go. The East Coast advantage: NYCC is adjacent to one of the world's great cities. The convention ends at 7pm and New York starts. Restaurants, bars, and attractions are all accessible from the Javits Center. Hotel inventory near the venue is limited; book early and consider Hudson Yards or Hell's Kitchen options within walking distance. Tickets go on sale in June with a Superfan Presale for Popverse members opening before general on-sale. Javits Center, New York City. October 8–11, 2026. New York Comic Con was founded in 2006 and reached 250,000 attendance within its first decade. The 20th anniversary edition in 2026 with the Coney Island theme signals that the organizers are treating this as a milestone year — expect expanded programming, anniversary exclusives, and a level of production that reflects two decades of iteration. If you have been waiting for the right year to make NYCC a destination trip, the 20th anniversary is the obvious choice.

So-Cal Cosplay Shoot — Halloween Special
Oct 25, 2026 Free Balboa Park, San Diego, CA 92101

The costume has been hanging on the back of a door for weeks now, waiting for a reason to exist. This is the reason. Late October changes Balboa Park. The light drops lower and warmer, the air finally cools, and the Spanish Colonial Revival facades stop reading as pretty and start reading as atmospheric — a horror build against the Museum of Man looks like a production still from something that cost millions. The fountain plaza does things in the afternoon that are genuinely hard to fake anywhere else. The park does most of the work for you. So-Cal Cosplay Scene runs it as an open call: any fandom, any character, no quality threshold, no hierarchy. Halloween-themed is expected, not required. Photographers of every skill level are told to bring their gear, and the morning hours hold the best light before the crowds arrive. Free to attend; the meet point posts to @socosplayscene. Come in costume. Come alone if you have to — you will not stay alone.

ANIME WRESTLE-VERSE: The Ultimate Cosplay Entrance Experience
Oct 31, 2026 30 8548 Lankershim Blvd, Los Angeles,…

KnokX Pro Wrestling looked at two rooms -- anime cosplay contests and wrestling entrance theater -- and decided they belonged together. ANIME WRESTLE-VERSE is what happened when a real wrestling promotion asked: what if the cosplay walk-out was the competition? On Halloween night in North Hollywood, 275 people will watch competitors enter the ring in full anime cosplay -- theme music, character energy, crowd reaction -- competing for the Anime Wrestle-Verse Championship Belt and a 750 dollar prize pool. This is not a costume contest judged on accuracy. It is judged on the entrance. On presence. On the room reaction when you walk through that curtain. Between heats: KnokX Pro wrestling matches, a live K-pop and anime DJ, a vendor floor, food, and photo ops. The full card. This is for the person who watched wrestling and thought about doing it in cosplay. Or the cosplayer who was waiting for a stage where the walk-in matters as much as the fit. October 31, 2026. Doors 7 PM. North Hollywood, Los Angeles. Tickets: 30 dollars GA. Capacity: 275. Ages 18+.

Pacific Media Expo 2026 (PMX)
Nov 6 – Nov 8, 2026 Los Angeles Airport Marriott, 5855…

The best moment at a small convention is never on the schedule. It is the twenty minutes after a panel ends when the voice actor stays in the room and just keeps talking, because it is a small room and nobody is rushing them out. Pacific Media Expo has run on that for two decades, built by and around the people who make the work: voice actors, anime producers, manga artists, and the Southern California fans who kept the lights on. The panels put you close. The dealer room runs mainstream to deep-cut. The AMV contest is where the real showing-off happens, and the hallway gatherings between official programming are half the reason people come back year after year. It lands at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott on Century Boulevard, with the full schedule at pacificmediaexpo.com. If you would rather hear how a show got made than wait in a line for a photo, this is your convention. Send it to the one person who will understand why.

A neighborhood decided its kids should have music programs, then funded them by showing up at the park on Friday evenings. That is the whole mechanism, and it has been turning for twenty-six years. The shape of the night never changes. A junior stage goes first, so the kids the money pays for play before the adults do, then a main stage that might be a cover band, a tribute act, or somebody's local originals project nobody outside this zip code has heard yet. Lawn chairs, blankets, a crowd running from strollers to people who have not missed a summer in a decade. Nobody is producing this. It is free to walk up to, and what gets donated goes straight back into the schools. Point Loma Park on Catalina Boulevard, Fridays through the summer, food and drink close by. Anime Weekend Atlanta 2026 — Atlanta, GA
Nov 19 – Nov 22, 2026 Georgia World Congress Center, Bui…

The American South's longest-running anime convention has been meeting in Atlanta every September since 1997. Anime Weekend Atlanta is where the Southeast's anime fandom comes to recognize itself. Walk the AWA floor on a Thursday night and the energy hits immediately: cosplayers in elaborate handmade builds line the escalators, artist alley tables overflow with original prints and fan art, and the programming halls pulse with AMVs, panel debates, and late-night gaming tournaments that run until 3 AM. The dealers room is legitimately staggering — vintage merchandise, imports, rare figures, and indie creators all packed into a space where you could spend a full day and still miss things. The masquerade on Saturday night is one of the most theatrical cosplay competitions in the country, drawing contestants who have spent months on a single build. AWA moves differently than the mega-cons: it feels less like a trade show and more like a reunion — because for thousands of attendees, it genuinely is. If you grew up watching anime in the South and never found your people, AWA is the answer. This is not for casual fans who think anime is just Naruto and Dragon Ball. It is for people who obsess over seasonal charts, debate subculture lore, and have a hard drive full of unfinished cosplay plans. First-timers frequently describe AWA as the con that finally felt like home. If you are that person — the one who learned Japanese from subtitles and named a pet after a character — this is worth every flight mile. Book your hotel at the World Congress Center Marriott before August or it will sell out — AWA attendees treat the hotel block as sacred and it fills months in advance. Badge pickup lines on Thursday afternoon are brutal; opt for pre-registration and arrive before noon. The dealers room has no ATMs inside — bring cash, bring more than you think you need, and budget for at least one impulse figure you did not plan for. The programming schedule releases about six weeks before the event and fills fast; panel rooms cap out, so plan your must-see events 30 minutes early. The loading dock area outside Building C is where the best spontaneous cosplay photo shoots happen after dark. It is the convention that proved the South has always had its own thriving fan culture — it just needed a room big enough to hold it. AWA 2026 runs November 19-22 at the Georgia World Congress Center, Building C, Atlanta. The Southern con circuit keeps going the rest of the year in far smaller hotels, and the same people build costumes for all of it.

Some knowledge you cannot buy: which panels are worth lining up an hour early for, which guest signings empty out fast, which late-night rooms never make it onto the printed schedule. Regulars hand that down to each other here, and it is the real inheritance of a convention that has been meeting for over two decades. The tradeoff for running smaller than Anime Expo is access. To the guests, who trend toward voice actors and fan creators who build their year around Southern California cons. To the programming, which you can actually get into. To each other — the dealer room and artist alley run at a scale where you can move without turning sideways. Anime Pasadena 2026
Nov 6 – Nov 8, 2026 TBA Pasadena Convention Center, Pasade…

The thing nobody says out loud about the giant conventions is that you go for the artists and then spend the whole weekend failing to reach them. Six people deep at every table, a crowd that carries you past what you came to see, a morning of your life spent in a badge line. This is the other version. The vendor hall is the argument: importers with inventory that never appears on domestic sites, small publishers stocking titles nobody else carries, figure dealers holding real stock, and artists who skip the bigger shows entirely. The cosplay skews toward builders — people who spent months on a prop and want a room where you can actually stop and look at it. Friday evening hours let the weekend breathe instead of compressing. Three days at the Pasadena convention center, free parking, weekend passes cheap by convention standards. Send this to the friend who came back from Anime Expo saying they saw nothing.

SOUL COMIX CON is a comics festival dedicated to celebrating Black creators, Black characters, and Black storytelling across the comics medium. Organized by DP COMIX and held at the Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center in Leimert Park, one of Los Angeles's most important African American cultural neighborhoods, SOUL COMIX CON brings together indie comics, superhero comics, and graphic novels by Black artists and writers. Attendees can meet Black comic book creators in person, purchase original artwork and limited-edition prints directly from the artists who made them, and discover independent comics that are not available at any chain retailer. A cosplay party is included in the programming, with a focus on characters from Black-created and Black-led comics properties. Family-friendly and all ages. Saturday June 27, 11am to 5pm. Free or low-cost admission. Leimert Park is accessible by Metro and is one of the city's premier destinations for Black art, culture, and community. You could spend a fortune renting a location that looks like a fantasy set, or you could show up in costume at Balboa Park on a Saturday morning and let the Spanish Colonial Revival architecture do it for free. That's the whole trick of this shoot. The park is the setting that does the work: the facades, the fountains, the museum courtyards, the garden paths - any of them reads as a fantasy environment no matter what you're cosplaying. A mech suit against the Museum of Man's exterior photographs like nothing you could build in a studio. A soft fantasy costume against the Botanical Building's lily pond catches light you can't plan for. Any fandom, any build level, all welcome. Photographers, bring your gear - the park accommodates it. Cosplayers shooting solo find each other. The morning light is best before the park fills, so arriving early rewards you in every way. Somewhere on that convention floor sits a Dodge Challenger built as a tribute to a mechanic who died, a Bronco engineered for Baja with a 700-mile range, and a Toyota Tacoma so heavily modified the factory DNA has nearly vanished - and the person who built each one is standing right there, willing to explain exactly how. The SEMA Show fills a Las Vegas convention center every November: 2,000 brands, 160,000 automotive professionals, and the most elaborate custom vehicles on earth, the industry's annual argument about what cars can become. This is not rows of production vehicles under fluorescent lights. The smell of fresh paint, engine oil, and ambition is everywhere. The Specialty Equipment Market Association show exists because the aftermarket - the people who make your car yours - needs one place to show what they built this year. Whether it is worth attending depends on who you are. If you are in the automotive world at any level, SEMA Fest on Saturday, the public consumer day, is one of the most inspiring afternoons you can spend in Las Vegas: six-figure full-coverage builds sit 10 feet from you, the designers will talk to you, and the fabricators will explain how they did it. Even if you are not a car person, some of these vehicles are genuinely art, and the Battle of the Builders final is as dramatic as any competition you will watch this year. SEMA Fest is Saturday, November 7 - this is the enthusiast day; the full trade show, Tuesday through Friday, requires industry credentials. Book hotels well in advance; SEMA week fills the Strip. Parking is manageable at the Convention Center, but wear comfortable shoes - the floor is enormous. The Battle of the Builders announcement happens mid-afternoon Saturday and draws a crowd, so position yourself early. Merchandise lines and meet-and-greets with builders and YouTubers run throughout the day. Nothing else in automotive culture operates at this density of craft in a single location. For anyone who has ever looked at a stock car and imagined what it could be, SEMA Fest is the pilgrimage.

PAWmicon 2026 — Comic-Con Pet Cosplay at Balboa Park
Jul 21, 2026 Presidents Way Lawn, Balboa Park, …

Somewhere in your house there is an animal who has been waiting for this. Not for the walk, not for the treat jar — for the moment someone finally sees what you have always known: that your dog was born to be a superhero. PAWmicon is Helen Woodward Animal Center's annual pre-Comic-Con costume contest, and it turns the Presidents Way Lawn at Balboa Park into the most wholesome red carpet San Diego will see all week. Three categories — Flying Solo, Duos and Trios, and Fantastic Floats (for pets with a ride) — and every entry gets a crowd that screams like it is Hall H. The difference is that here, nobody is pretending to be excited. The golden retriever in the Spider-Man suit genuinely believes he is saving the city, and honestly, he might be right. The event is free to watch. Entry is $20 in advance, $30 at the door. It launches on Tuesday, July 21 at 4 PM, two days before Comic-Con opens — which means it is the first cosplay competition of the week, and the only one where the contestants will love you unconditionally afterward. Presidents Way Lawn, Balboa Park, near the Air and Space Museum. Bring a blanket. Bring your phone. Bring the dog who has been rehearsing.

San Diego Anime Convention 2026
Nov 13 – Nov 15, 2026 DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel San Die…

The conventions that last are almost never the biggest ones. They're the ones where the artist in the alley remembers your face from last year, where the panel is small enough that you can actually ask your question, where the regulars know each other's names. Four years in, this is quietly becoming one of those — a room that hasn't forgotten why people go to conventions in the first place. The DoubleTree keeps it contained in the way that works: fifty-some vendors, fifty-some artists, a layout that creates natural places to stand around and talk, and a hotel bar that fills with cosplayers once the panels let out. It has the energy of a gathering, not a production — the kind of place where you show up not knowing anyone and leave having found your corner of it. DoubleTree Mission Valley — November 13–15, 2026, three-day badges at sandiegoanimecon.com, free parking, easy from anywhere in the city. Saturday's the peak, Sunday's the long goodbye. Come in costume or don't; both belong here.

Hidden Leaf After Dark — Anime San Diego Official After-Party
Sep 5, 2026 San Diego Convention Center, 111 W…

The convention floor closes. The lights come up. You're standing in a hallway holding a prop sword and a bag of prints, and every cell in your body is saying: not yet. Hidden Leaf After Dark is the official Anime San Diego after-party — the room where the energy that built all day doesn't have to stop. Five DJs take the Convention Center stage after the panels end, spinning anime anthems remixed for a crowd that already knows every word. The cosplays stay on. The dance floor fills with people who spent the day in artist alley and are now discovering each other's moves. Shonen Riot produces this alongside Anime San Diego, so the handoff is seamless — same community, different mode. You don't need a convention badge to attend. The only thing you need is the specific feeling that the day wasn't enough. Friday, September 5, 2026. Doors 8:30 PM. San Diego Convention Center. 18+. Tickets $29.51.

34th Annual Canoga Park Memorial Day Parade 2026
May 25, 2026 Sherman Way & Owensmouth Ave, Cano…

Most of Los Angeles treats the last Monday in May as the unofficial start of beach season and nothing more. One neighborhood in the west Valley refuses. Sherman Way shuts down, the sidewalks fill three deep, and Canoga Park stages the only Memorial Day parade in the entire City and County of Los Angeles — not a marketing line, literally true. High school marching bands. Vintage military vehicles. Community floats built in somebody's driveway. And then the Condor Squadron comes over the rooftops low enough that conversation stops mid-sentence and every head on the block tilts back at once. That flyover is the part people describe years later. The theme is Saluting the Price of Freedom, with Rear Admiral Dave Barnes as Grand Marshal. Free, no ticket, bleacher seating along the route, and the Metro Orange Line drops you a short walk off. Bring the relative who never talks about their service. They will not say much. They will not need to.

SuperMotocross World Championship Playoffs — Carson, CA
Sep 19, 2026 Dignity Health Sports Park, 18400 …

You feel the bikes in your sternum before you hear them, and once twenty-two of them drop the gate at the same instant, the sound stops being sound and becomes weather. The Playoffs are where the format turns brutal. The escalating points system means every moto counts double: a bad start is not recoverable, a mechanical failure ends a championship, and the entire crowd understands the math while it is happening. The track is a hybrid built to test supercross and motocross in a single afternoon, which strips out anyone who is only good at one. Jett Lawrence and Haiden Deegan defend against Eli Tomac, Chase Sexton, Ken Roczen and the rest of a field that ground through a whole season to get here. FanFest opens the morning wide — team access, riders, the kind of proximity other motorsports sell as a package. Get there early and stand near the fence. You will not go back to watching it on a screen.

You've been watching the same show for six months. You've read every theory thread. You've sent the opening theme to three people who didn't ask for it. And now you need to be in a room where everyone else did the same thing. Party Plus Ultra is Shonen Riot's standalone anime rave — not a convention afterparty this time, but the main event. The Mission Inn in Riverside becomes the venue: five DJs (Chuck None, Kahn Artest, Hiero, Kudo, and Ohyea) spinning anime anthems and club remixes under the arches of one of California's most absurdly beautiful hotels. Cosplay welcome. Anime-themed drinks. Photo ops. And a dance floor full of people who can identify an opening by the first three notes. Shonen Riot runs the conventions behind Anime San Diego, Anime Riverside, Anime Pasadena, and Anime Las Vegas. This is the team that already knows how to pack a room with people who share a very specific frequency. Party Plus Ultra is that frequency, amplified, without the panel schedule. 18+. Doors 7 PM. One Piece Card Game: Pirates Party — Los Angeles
Jun 20, 2026 Entry fee required; varies by event TBD — Greater Los Angeles Area, CA

The One Piece Card Game Pirates Party 2026 regional event lands in the greater Los Angeles area — and the timing could not be more deliberate. With ONE PIECE Fest set for COSM LA in August, the TCG scene is reaching crystallization phase in SoCal: the anime is at peak cultural moment, the card game is in its most competitive window, and the regional tournament format brings competitive players face to face with the community that texts each other about pulls at 11pm. Pirates Party is Bandai Namco's signature regional event format: competitive main events, side tournaments, exclusive promo card distribution, community meetups, and the kind of trading floor energy that doesn't happen on Discord. SoCal has one of the most active One Piece Card Game communities in North America — the competitive circuit here runs through multiple stores in LA, Orange County, and San Diego year-round. Whether you are grinding ranked play or showing up to trade and watch, this is the room where the SoCal One Piece TCG community will be in May-June 2026. Registration through the official One Piece Card Game website. Exact venue to be announced — follow the official channels for confirmation. Promo cards distributed to all registered participants. Show up with your best deck and an empty binder.

Anime Frontier 2026 — Fort Worth, TX
Dec 4, 2026 Fort Worth Convention Center, 1201…

There is a convention center in Fort Worth where, for three days every December, the cowboys and the cosplayers share the same sidewalk — and nobody blinks, because Texas has always been bigger than any one identity. Anime Frontier returns to the Fort Worth Convention Center December 4–6, 2026, for three days of premieres, panels, and special appearances from some of the biggest names in anime and manga. Presented by Crunchyroll, Anime Frontier has carved out a space that the East Coast cons like Anime NYC and Otakon and West Coast cons like Anime Expo do not cover — the entire middle of the country, where anime fandom runs just as deep but the nearest major convention used to be a 12-hour drive. The convention has grown rapidly since its launch, filling a geographic gap that the anime community had been complaining about for years. The exhibitor hall and artist alley bring together hundreds of vendors, from official merch drops to independent artists whose work you will only find at cons like this. The programming runs from industry panels and world premieres to cosplay showcases and community meetups, and the scale is big enough to feel like a real convention without the crushing density of a 100K-attendance mega-con. New for 2026 is a Kids Sunday ticket and a dedicated Family Zone presented by Scholastic — a signal that Anime Frontier is building for the next generation of fans, not just serving the current one. If you are an anime fan in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, or anywhere in the central United States, Anime Frontier is the con that finally means you do not have to fly to a coast. If you are a veteran con-goer from either coast, Fort Worth offers something the big cons cannot — a manageable size, walkable downtown hotels and restaurants, and the Texas hospitality that makes out-of-towners want to come back every year. Tickets include single-day and 3-day badges, with Premium AF passes for extra access and perks. Ordering by October 23 gets your badge shipped before the event. Fort Worth in December is mild enough for outdoor cosplay without the summer heat that plagues most anime cons. The convention center is downtown, walkable to dozens of restaurants and bars, and the whole experience feels like a community gathering rather than a corporate expo. For the anime community in the middle of America, Anime Frontier is no longer the new con — it is the home con.

MomoCon 2027 — Atlanta, GA
May 27, 2027 Georgia World Congress Center, 285…

A convention that started as a one-day free event on a college campus and grew into a four-day gathering of tens of thousands keeps something from that origin that money cannot buy: it is still noticeably run by people who are the audience. MomoCon happens each Memorial Day weekend at the Georgia World Congress Center in downtown Atlanta, and it covers anime, gaming, animation and comics with an unusually strong emphasis on the industry side of animation. The distinguishing feature is the volume of actual working professionals — animators, voice actors, studio staff — doing panels that are about how the work gets made rather than about promoting a release. Atlanta has become a genuine production city, and the convention benefits from that proximity. Alongside it sits one of the larger convention gaming setups in the country: a tabletop hall, a big freeplay arcade and console area, and esports tournaments running the whole weekend. Cosplay is central and the crowd skews young, energetic and heavily costumed. Memorial Day weekend means an extra day, and the extra day changes the pace considerably — there is time to do things properly rather than sprinting. Worth it? If you are interested in animation as a craft and a career, this is one of the best conventions in the country for that specific reason, and the access to working professionals is unusually good. If you are primarily a collector, the dealer hall is solid but not a destination. It is a maker's and a player's convention more than a buyer's. What to know: downtown Atlanta hotels connected to or near the convention center fill first and the walk matters in May humidity. The badge covers the gaming halls, which many first-timers do not realize until Sunday. Panels about breaking into animation fill up an hour early. Parking downtown is expensive; the MARTA station is close. And the four-day format means Thursday is genuinely worth arriving for. It is here because a convention where the people who make the thing talk honestly about making it is rarer than it should be, and knowing that room exists is useful whether or not you ever sit in it. MomoCon 2027 runs May 27–30, 2027 at the Georgia World Congress Center.

You've watched the fight scenes on your phone in bed. You've paused on the frame where the animation budget clearly tripled. Now imagine walking into that frame — not a poster of it, not a gift shop version, but the room itself, rebuilt at full scale, waiting for you to stand where the character stood. Crunchyroll's The Loop is a free immersive pop-up experience at Westfield Topanga in Canoga Park, and it's built for the people who don't just watch anime — they live inside it. The current rotation features Solo Leveling, Sentenced to Be a Hero, and Bananya, each with its own themed room complete with photo opportunities, audio and visual installations, and replica props that exist specifically so you can hold them. General admission is free, with a standby line when the space reaches capacity. A fifteen-dollar limited-edition pin pack buys fast-pass access to skip the wait. The space rotates its featured series, so the rooms you visit this month won't be the same ones that open next. Follow @discovertheloop for schedule updates. Open now through late August 2026. Shinzo wo Sasageyo. If reading that raised something in your chest, you already know why this matters, and you can stop reading right here. For everyone else: this score did an enormous amount of the emotional work in a story about impossible choices, and until now there has never been an officially licensed orchestral performance of it anywhere on earth. Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto curated new symphonic arrangements for more than a hundred musicians and a full choir, with the series projected on a giant screen behind them, so the whole arc runs while the music that scored it fills a real room instead of your headphones. There is a particular thing that happens when a live choir comes in on music you have only ever heard compressed through earbuds at one in the morning. It is not subtle. Hollywood, a proper theater, one night only. Dedicated to the hearts. Bring the person you watched the last season with — the one who still refuses to discuss the ending.

Comic Tron - Comic Con After Party
Jul 25 – Jul 26, 2026 1337 India Street, San Diego, CA 9…

The convention center goes dark at six, but the people inside it don't power down — they just need somewhere to put the charge. That's the whole reason a tribute act spent years building replica chromed helmets, a full-scale pyramid stage, and electro-luminescent suits that glow like the inside of a game grid. They believe the best hours of Comic-Con week aren't on the floor at all — they're after, when the badge comes off and the costume stays on and a room full of strangers turns out to be exactly your people. Little Italy's Music Box becomes a Tron sequence for one night: futuristic beats, glowing everything, an "Alive 2007"-style spectacle that treats Daft Punk like scripture. Cosplayers, ravers, and the SDCC crowd who refuse to call it a night all end up under the same lights. You do not need a Comic-Con badge to walk in. Anime NYC 2027 — New York, NY
Aug 26, 2027 Jacob K. Javits Convention Center,…

New York went without a major anime convention for an embarrassingly long time given how many people there wanted one, and when it finally arrived it grew faster than almost any convention in American history. Anime NYC now fills the Javits Center on the far west side of Manhattan and has become the East Coast's largest anime event, with the industry treating it as a genuine announcement platform rather than a regional stop. What separates it from the older conventions is that it feels like it belongs to the city rather than to a hotel complex. Attendees spill into Hell's Kitchen and midtown between panels; the after-hours culture happens in restaurants and karaoke rooms rather than in hotel hallways. Inside, the industry presence is unusually heavy — Japanese publishers and studios send real delegations, there are manga creators doing signings who rarely leave Japan, and the concert programming has brought over acts that had never played the United States. The dealers hall is large and the artist alley is genuinely excellent, benefiting from the density of illustrators who already live within a train ride. Is it worth it? If you follow manga and the industry side of anime rather than only the shows, this is the best convention in the country for you, because the guests are the people who actually make it. If you want a warm, sprawling, all-night fan convention, the hotel-based cons in the Midwest and Maryland do that better — Javits closes and you go out into Manhattan, which is a different experience and an expensive one. What to know before you go: badges sell out, sometimes months ahead, and there is no walk-up. Javits is a long avenue walk from the nearest subway; budget the time. Late August in New York is hot and humid and the costume math should account for that. Ticketed signings are allocated by lottery — enter early. And eat outside the building; you are in one of the best food cities on earth. It earns a place here because the speed at which it grew is the clearest single piece of evidence about how large this audience actually became, and that is worth knowing even from across the country. Anime NYC 2027 runs August 26–29, 2027 at the Javits Center.

Ready Party One: The Final Level
Jul 22 – Jul 23, 2026 $30–$75 615 Broadway, San Diego, CA 92101

Someone decided years ago that the night before the badges go live shouldn't be spent packing a bag in a hotel room. They believed the people who fly in early — the cosplayers, the arcade diehards, the friends who only see each other once a year on this one downtown block — needed a room of their own before the show floor ever opened. So they built one, and they've rebuilt it every summer since 2018. This year it's a neon-lit digital battlefield: arcade legends and fighting-game champions, console warriors, the golden age of gaming rendered in light and bass. There's an 80s tribute band that has been part of this since the beginning, a 90s band, DJs scratching records, and a few thousand people who all got the same text from the same friend that said "this is us, we're going." It is the unofficial opening ceremony of the week — the moment the city stops being a place you visit and starts being a place you belong to. Logistics: Wednesday, July 22, 2026, 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM at Parq Nightclub, 615 Broadway, San Diego, CA 92101 (Preview Night, the night before Comic-Con officially opens). Jun 5 – Sep 19, 2026 The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 222…

The San Diego Symphony's Summer Pops season at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park brings world-class orchestral music to the San Diego waterfront for a series of outdoor concerts running June through September 2026. The Rady Shell — an acoustically engineered open-air performance venue on the waterfront at Jacobs Park — provides a stunning setting for the Symphony's summer season with San Diego Bay visible beyond the audience. The Summer Pops programming spans the full range from classical masterworks to pops concerts featuring Broadway music, film scores, jazz, and popular artists performing with orchestral accompaniment. The variety makes the summer season accessible to audiences who aren't regular classical concertgoers while delivering the full orchestral experience that the Symphony's musician quality supports. The Rady Shell's outdoor format is distinctly family-friendly — picnic blankets, lawn chairs, and the relaxed atmosphere of the waterfront park contrast with the formality of indoor concert halls. The adjacent Jacobs Park lawn allows families to spread out while the children remain within range of the music. Food and wine are available from vendors on-site. The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park is located at 222 Park Blvd in downtown San Diego, walkable from the Embarcadero and accessible via MTS Trolley (Convention Center station). Parking in the downtown convention center structures. Individual concert tickets and season subscriptions available through the San Diego Symphony website.

Jujutsu Kaisen — New Season Watch Party SD
Jul 10, 2026 Animé Café, 3671 30th St, San Dieg…

Animé Café, 3671 30th St, San Diego. July 11th. Jujutsu Kaisen's new season arrives on Crunchyroll and Animé Café opens for the watch party — the right room for the right show, where the community that has been waiting for the next arc gets to see it together. The watch party format changes how anime lands. The episode plays in a room where everyone knows the characters, remembers the last season's ending, and has been speculating about what comes next. The moment a favorite character appears: the room reacts. The moment something goes wrong: the room reacts. That collective experience — the gasp, the cheer, the silence that lands before the crowd processes what just happened — is part of the story. You can watch alone. You can also be in the room where it happens. Animé Café is the right setting for the San Diego Jujutsu Kaisen community: a dedicated anime café that understands the material and the people who come for it. July 11th. Check Crunchyroll for the premiere date and crunchyroll.com for stream details. Come before the episode starts to get a seat and a drink ordered. The opening sequence lands differently when sixty people are watching it at the same time.

Mosh Eisley: Best Party In The Galaxy
Jul 24 – Jul 25, 2026 $62 1337 India Street, San Diego, CA 9…

Somebody looked at a galaxy far, far away and at a room full of people screaming the bridge of a song they cried to in high school, and decided those were the same people. They were right. This is the night the Star Wars obsessives and the emo kids stop pretending they're different crowds. The band plays the songs you'd never admit you have memorized. Strangers in Jedi robes and band tees scream every word back at each other like a pew of believers. Cosplay isn't a costume contest here — it's just what you wear to church. The floor is standing-room, the lights go galactic, and for one night the most uncool thing about you becomes the reason a roomful of people love you. Come in costume or come in the shirt you've owned for fifteen years. Both belong. Doors open at 8PM (Cantina Hour early access for the bundle crowd); the party runs Friday, July 24, 2026, 9PM–1:30AM at Music Box, 1337 India Street, San Diego, CA 92101. 21+. Tickets $62 advance.

Demon Slayer: New Arc — Season Premiere Watch Party
Jul 3, 2026 Animé Café, 3671 30th St, San Dieg…

Animé Café, 3671 30th St, San Diego. July 4th. Demon Slayer's new arc premieres on Crunchyroll and Animé Café hosts the watch party — the specific version of this event where the room is full of people who have been waiting since the last arc ended and have opinions ready before the first episode loads. Demon Slayer watch parties are their own category of experience. The show builds to moments — the breathing technique reveals, the demon transformations, the specific chord progressions that arrive underneath the fights that earn them — and those moments are designed to be witnessed with other people. The collective inhale before something lands, the collective exhale after it does, the conversation that starts before the credits finish. That's what the Animé Café watch party provides. July 4th. crunchyroll.com for the premiere schedule. Animé Café at 3671 30th St runs a venue built for exactly this gathering. Arrive before the episode — the setup includes the context catch-up that works whether you rewatched everything recently or haven't touched it since the last arc. Come in for a drink. Stay for the whole watch. The new arc starts here.

You were five, and the ocean was the biggest thing you had ever seen, and nobody had to explain to you that it was alive. Walking into this gallery reopens that exact file, except now you are an adult and still cannot account for why Miyazaki makes you cry. More than a hundred pieces, hand-picked by the studio: original drawings in Miyazaki's own hand, art boards laying out the frame-by-frame labor behind every wave that rolled across the screen, posters from the original Japanese release. Some of it has never been shown anywhere in North America. There is a table where you build your own stop-motion sequence out of paper sea creatures, which is the room where the children go still and the parents quietly take over. Wilshire Boulevard at the Academy Museum, timed admission, closed Tuesdays. Take the kid. Then notice which one of you refuses to leave the drawings.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Community Night — June
Jun 27, 2026 $10 GameSync San Diego, 2860 Main St, …

June's Dragon Ball Sparking Zero community night at GameSync in downtown San Diego on June 27. The meta has evolved since launch — new techniques, new character tiers, new answers to the old dominant strategies — and so has the local competition. Full bracket, character variety encouraged, and the kind of crowd energy that only Dragon Ball generates in a live room. GameSync is the right venue for this: a fighting game community arcade with an audience that grew up with the franchise and takes it seriously without losing the joy. This is not casual. It is the San Diego FGC choosing the game it wants to compete at, which means the skill level is real and the matches are worth watching even if you are not in the bracket. Show up early to warm up. Bracket play starts after an open practice period. 2860 Main St in Barrio Logan — free street parking available after 6 PM. All skill levels welcome. The regulars will explain the matchups. Dragon Ball Sparking Zero rewards style as much as execution. This is the game the community chose. Show up.

Crunchyroll Anime FanFest 2026 — San Diego
Jul 25 – Jul 27, 2026 222 Marina Park Way, San Diego, CA…

This is what it sounds like when 10,000 anime fans hear the opening notes of something they have been listening to alone for years. The Rady Shell sits on San Diego Bay directly behind the Convention Center, and for two days during Comic-Con it belongs to the music anime made famous. No badge, no wristband, no cost — which means the crowd is half convention-goers and half people who came for this and nothing else. The 2025 edition put SPYAIR, yama, ASH DA HERO and Denzel Curry on the same stage and it did not read as a novelty. It read as a playlist. The 2026 lineup is announced closer to the date. Gates Saturday July 25 at 1 PM. Sunday July 26 continues. 222 Marina Park Way, San Diego. Free. You know which friend has been playing these songs in the car since high school.

Rose City Comic Con 2026 — Portland, OR
Sep 11 – Sep 13, 2026 Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE M…

You can spend hours in artist alley here just talking with independent creators - not waiting in a celebrity autograph line, actually talking - and that is the tell about what kind of convention this is. Three days at the Oregon Convention Center of floor, panels, and programming, built for people who care about comics as an art form: the creators and the medium, not only the IP franchises. Celebrity guests span comics, film, and television, with signing and photo opportunities throughout the weekend, but the heart of the show is the alley and the cosplay, which is one of the strongest scenes on the West Coast - the hall dense with elaborate builds and the crowd treating it as a showcase rather than a costume contest. Gaming rooms, tabletop areas, and panel programming round out a schedule that can run ten hours a day for serious attendees. What makes Rose City hold together is that it is built for people who love comics as a medium and stays genuinely accessible while doing it: the scale is manageable, the crowd is easy, and tickets run $17-$105 depending on day and package. For cosplayers, the Portland fanbase means extraordinary hall costumes without the New York or San Diego Comic-Con crowds. If the bigger conventions have priced or exhausted you out, this delivers the best of what those events promise at a fraction of the friction. It has quietly become the essential West Coast convention for independent comics, occupying the space between the industry-scale San Diego Comic-Con and the grassroots spirit of smaller regional shows. Portland's identity as a creative, DIY city gives it an energy distinct from LA or Bay Area equivalents - this is where you find what is coming in comics before it reaches mass-market shelves. A few practical notes. Friday hours are 1 to 8 PM, Saturday 10 AM to 7 PM, Sunday 10 AM to 5 PM; Saturday crowds are significantly denser, which makes Sunday the calmer entry point for first-timers. Artist Alley is the heart of the show, so budget both time and money for it. The Oregon Convention Center is served by Portland MAX light rail, and the Convention Center stop drops you right at the door, so a car is unnecessary if you are staying downtown. Yuuri Live 2026 in Los Angeles — The Wiltern
Sep 26, 2026 The Wiltern, 3790 Wilshire Blvd, L…

You knew the voice before you knew the name. It was under an anime opening you replayed until it stopped being a song and became a reflex, or it arrived at 2 AM from a friend with no message attached, because the music was the message. That is how this works. It finds you sideways. The Wiltern is the right room for it. An Art Deco house on Wilshire, small enough that a singer with real range fills every corner without out-shouting a production budget. Her catalog sits on the seam between soundtrack work and songwriting that stands entirely on its own, and live is where you find out how much of it was always hers. On Wilshire, right at the Metro station, doors ahead of a 7 PM show. If you have ever sent somebody a song in the middle of the night and hoped they would understand without explanation, this is that, out loud, in a room full of people who did the same thing.

Author & Punisher, Guiltless
Oct 1, 2026 The Casbah, 2501 Kettner Blvd, San…

You have tried to play this kind of music for someone in a car. You watched their face do the polite thing, and afterward you stopped offering. It became a private weather system instead — something you put on alone when you need to feel the inside of your own skull. Tristan Shone builds the machines he performs on. He worked in a San Diego machine shop as a mechanical engineer, and the instruments he plays — drone machines, dub machines, slabs of aluminum riding on rails that he shoves and drags — exist because no manufactured instrument did what he needed it to do. Watching him is nearer to watching somebody operate industrial equipment than watching a band. He leans his entire body into the controls. The low end reaches your sternum a half-second before your ears file a report. Guiltless opens. The room holds a few hundred, which means the floor participates. Doors at seven, show at eight, Thursday the first of October. The Casbah sits on Kettner just up from Laurel.
