Los Angeles Convention Center, 120…
The big one down the coast takes all the attention. The people who come to this one prefer it that way, and they are quietly glad you have not worked it out yet.
Three days at the Convention Center — celebrity signings, panels, and an exhibitor floor that runs independent publishers alongside the major houses. Fifty thousand people who grew up on the same stories, turning a hall into a reunion.
The character is different on purpose. This is the industry's own convention, the one people attend in costume because they want to rather than because the press is watching. Comics, sci-fi, gaming, horror, anime, fantasy, across all three days.
Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 S Figueroa St. October 30 through November 1.
The mythology is still being made in that room, and some of the people making it are sitting at a table waiting for someone to say hello.

Los Angeles Convention Center, 120…
Fifty years ago a farm boy looked up at twin suns and a generation learned what longing sounds like.
Star Wars Celebration returns to Los Angeles on April 1–4, 2027, to mark the 50th anniversary of the film that changed everything. This is the gathering where Lucasfilm pulls back the curtain — world premieres of upcoming projects, panels with the creators who are building the next chapters, first looks at footage that won't exist anywhere else for months. The show floor spans the LA Convention Center with walk-through exhibits, a cosplay showcase that draws the most ambitious builders on the planet, exclusive merchandise that sells out before lunch, and the collective energy of tens of thousands of people who all trace something essential about who they are back to that same opening crawl.
The 50th anniversary makes this one different. Half a century of stories, characters, music, and moments that shaped how an entire culture thinks about heroism, redemption, and the distance between who you are and who you could be. Whether you've been here since 1977 or discovered it last year, Celebration is the room where every version of that journey is valid.
What makes Star Wars Celebration unlike any other fan convention is that it is the only place where the future of the franchise is revealed first. Every major announcement — from The Mandalorian's debut trailer to Ahsoka's first footage to the reveal of new theatrical films — happened at Celebration before it happened anywhere else. The industry comes because Lucasfilm treats this room as the premiere venue. The fans come because they've been part of this story longer than most relationships in their lives.
Expect four full days of programming: the headline showcase at the Honda Center (separate ticket tier), hundreds of panels across multiple stages, the Fan Stage where cosplayers and community creators take the spotlight, interactive experiences that put you inside the worlds of the saga, and the Artist Alley where illustrators who shaped the visual language of Star Wars sell original work.
Four-day adult passes from $260.99. Children 4–12 from $105.99. Los Angeles Convention Center. April 1–4, 2027. The anniversary year has screenings and smaller gatherings running all through it, and the people in this room will be at those too.

Everyone chases the opening days — the announcements, the premieres, the Hall H-sized adrenaline. The people who know AX chase the last one. Sunday is when the world's largest anime convention exhales: the lines go short, the floor slows down, and the conversations finally stop being shouted between panels and start being real.
It's also the day the floor gets generous. Artist Alley cuts prices to clear the table, exhibitors let exclusive merch go at a discount, and the Closing Ceremonies — the weekend cosplay recap, the Masquerade awards, the official goodbye — mark the moment four days of strangers become the community that'll wait a whole year to reassemble. Day 4 badges are the easiest to find on resale and the most underrated ticket of the convention. And in 2027 the finale lands on the Fourth of July, with fireworks visible from parts of the LACC plaza depending on which way they launch.
Anime Expo 2027, Sunday July 4, Los Angeles Convention Center. Take Metro or rideshare — downtown parking and traffic are brutal on the Fourth. Come for the goodbye; it's the part that stays with you.

The Masquerade streams live every year, and watching the stream is a completely different event from sitting in that hall. On a screen you see a costume. In the room you see the seams — the thermoplastic, the wiring, the months somebody spent on a shoulder piece nobody was ever supposed to notice. Hundreds of competitors, judged on craft and on performance, and the noise when a build lands is unlike anything else all weekend.
Saturday is the peak of the whole convention. The biggest announcements come out on Saturday. The panel halls hit capacity on Saturday. Artist Alley lines wrap around entire wings, English voice actors do live readings, and Japanese creators appear in person or beamed in from across the ocean.
Come early for the exclusives, then return to the exhibit floor after the main panels, when it briefly calms down. The Expo Line lets you out right there.
Badges go first for this day. Ask the friend you always lose in Artist Alley.

The announcement you will see trending worldwide by dinner happens in a room you could be standing in at lunch. That is the entire case for showing up on the first full public day instead of easing in over the weekend.
This is when the building finally hits capacity and the studio panels start dropping licensing reveals and surprise first episodes. Anisong sets bring Japanese recording artists who almost never play the States. Voice actors and creators sign all afternoon. The floor and Artist Alley run flat out from open to close — hundreds of independent artists selling prints, charms, and original work — and the sweet spot for actually shopping it is early afternoon, before the prime-time panels pull the crowd away.
The Metro drops you a short walk from the doors. A main badge covers daytime programming, panels, the floor, and the alley; the big concerts ticket separately.
Send it to the friend with a simulcast tab open right now. They will not need convincing.

Los Angeles Convention Center, 120…
Day 3 at Anime Expo is when the convention becomes itself. Saturday, July 4, 2026 at the Los Angeles Convention Center — the highest-attendance day of the largest anime convention in North America. Over 100,000 fans across the floor, programming running in every corner of the building, the cosplay competition at full force.
This year, Day 3 carries weight for two fandoms simultaneously. The BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War — The Calamity panel takes place Saturday morning at Crypto.com Arena, with Japanese VA Masakazu Morita and English voice director Johnny Yong Bosch present. And in the afternoon (2:45–4:05 PM, JW Diamond room), Science SARU presents the North American premiere panel for Ghost in the Shell 2026 — the first new entry in the franchise in over a decade, premiering on streaming July 7. This is a rare convergence: two landmark franchise events, one day, one convention.
Beyond the main panels: the Artist Alley is at its most densely packed, exclusives sell out by early afternoon, and the spontaneous meetups — people who found each other because of a shared series, a specific cosplay, a niche fandom — run into the night. Plan for crowds at the main entrances by midmorning. General admission and day badges available. The Saturday ticket moves fastest.

Los Angeles Convention Center, 120…
Anime Expo runs July 2nd through 5th at the Los Angeles Convention Center — badges at AXS — and the West Hall, South Hall, Petree, and Concourse are all cleared for four days and given over to the largest anime convention in North America. A hundred thousand people. Some in costumes that took six months to build. All in the same building at the same time.
The AX floor rewards knowing what you're looking for and punishes aimlessness — the Exhibit Hall has premiere merchandise, Japanese publishers, indie creators, and industry names in a space that takes three hours to cover once at a casual pace. The panels fill the big rooms with standing ovations for announcements that hit the internet seconds later. The Artist Alley is where the convention finds its actual soul: original work, fan work, artists who drove thirteen hours and set up at 6 AM because this is the room where their work finds its people. Outside the hall, the cosplay density on Day 2 turns the Convention Center plaza into its own event. Four days is not enough time. Pick your anchors — panels, signings, morning Exhibit Hall, night events — and let the rest happen around them. Badges sell out. Lock yours in.

Every July 4th weekend, the Los Angeles Convention Center stops being a convention center and becomes the largest gathering of anime fans in North America. The four-day span draws 100,000 attendees and turns downtown LA into the axis of the anime world for the summer.
The scale hits you immediately. The Exhibit Hall spans over 340,000 square feet of merchandise, artist booths, publisher displays, and licensed collectibles. Artist Alley is a separate destination — hundreds of independent creators selling original art, prints, and handmade goods, the kind of work you will not find on any streaming platform or official retail channel. The Industry Panels are where announcements happen: English dub cast reveals, new season confirmations, licensing news that fans will screenshot and share for weeks. Voice actor autograph sessions routinely have lines forming before sunrise.
Is Anime Expo worth it? If you are even moderately embedded in anime culture — yes, emphatically. The density of what you can see and do in four days at the LACC is unmatched. There is no equivalent event in North America for scope, for industry access, for the sheer number of people who look exactly as excited about the same things you are. The cosplay alone — tens of thousands of costumes across every franchise — is worth the badge price for someone who has never seen it at this scale.
Before you go: buy your badge early; prices increase and popular event tickets (Masquerade, concerts) require separate purchase and sell out fast. The convention floor opens at 9am but autograph lottery lines form before 7. Wear comfortable shoes — you will walk six miles without trying. The 4th of July weekend means Downtown LA is also hosting holiday events; plan transit accordingly. Metro is faster than driving. Bring cash for Artist Alley.
Anime Expo earns its Nation's Best position because it is the single largest public expression of a cultural moment that has been building for thirty years and shows no sign of slowing. The mainstream discovered anime. AX is where the culture that built it celebrates on its own terms. Los Angeles Convention Center. July 2–5, 2026.
The concert programming — separate ticketed events within AX — brings J-pop and ani-song artists to Los Angeles who rarely perform in North America outside of this weekend. If you follow any Japanese artist, check the concert schedule before finalizing your badge type. These shows sell out independently of the main badge and often represent the single best live music opportunity of any anime fan's year.

Los Angeles Convention Center
Downtown gets strange for one weekend. People in full armor waiting at a crosswalk. A Sailor Scout eating a hot dog on the steps. Nobody looks twice, because for those few days the Convention Center holds the largest gathering in this city of people who are unembarrassed about what they love.
That is the actual draw. The celebrity panels are good, the sneak peeks are good, the artist tables are where you find the thing you did not know you wanted, and the gaming tournaments run hot — but the reason people keep coming back is the walk from the parking structure to the doors, where you stop being the person at work with a shelf of figures and start being one of thousands.
Comics, film, television, anime, horror, and cosplay, all of it under one roof at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Bring the coworker who mentioned once, quietly, that they used to collect. Watch what happens to their face in the first hour.

Anaheim Convention Center, 800 W K…
Everyone has a friend who has spent a decade losing the badge lottery down in San Diego. This is where you take them.
Same organization runs it, same programming instincts, and a floor you can actually cross without a strategy meeting. Sixty thousand people rather than six figures, which is the difference between a convention and an evacuation drill. Publisher booths, artist alley, preview screenings, exclusive merch, and the Saturday-night masquerade, which is the flagship — costumes built over months, walked in front of a crowd that knows exactly how hard the seams were.
Because the badges are gettable and the halls are navigable, it has quietly become the best first convention a person can have. Families bring kids. First-timers stop being first-timers. The panel access is still real.
Anaheim Convention Center, three days in March, badges on sale months ahead with the good tiers moving fast.
Take the person who has been saying next year about the other one for a decade. End the streak.

The whole case for this convention is a math problem. You can actually reach three or four things you cared about in a single day. At the bigger show you pick one and spend the afternoon in a line for it.
Saturday is the peak — Hall B panels with talent in the room, the exhibit floor and artist alley at full activity, exclusive merch lines, and the masquerade final in the evening. That last one is the sleeper: judged on craftsmanship and performance, and the entrants treat the competition exactly as seriously as they treated the building of the costume. Same production ambition as the bigger convention, in a footprint you can cross without a strategy meeting.
Saturday single-day badges go first; the full convention runs the weekend in Anaheim.
Send it to the friend who has been sewing for months with nowhere to take it. This is the room.

Ask a veteran convention-goer which day they actually love and a surprising number will say the last one — when the urgency has drained out and what is left is a hall full of people who came for the same thing, quietly aware it is ending for another year.
Sunday is the undervalued badge. Crowds thin. Artist Alley cuts prices on whatever is left rather than haul it home. Vendors bundle things that were not bundled on Friday. Publishers discount remaining stock. The competition for panel seats evaporates and the convention finally becomes a social space instead of a logistics problem.
Closing panels run, and next year's dates get announced on the way out the door, which hands everyone something to look forward to before they have even reached the parking structure.
Take the train and stay until they sweep the floor. The last hour is the one people remember.

Chicago spent years being treated as a stop rather than a destination on the convention circuit, and the show that changed that did it by being unusually good at the unglamorous parts — floor layout, panel scheduling, actually letting people talk to creators. C2E2 has grown into the Midwest's flagship pop culture convention, held each spring at McCormick Place on the lakefront, and it now draws six figures of attendance across a weekend.
The experience is defined by scale plus air. McCormick Place is one of the largest convention buildings in North America, which means that even at peak Saturday the floor does not have the crushing quality that smaller venues develop. The artist alley and the comics guests are substantial, the anime and gaming presence has grown considerably, and the cosplay championship is a serious competitive event rather than a costume parade. What regulars single out is the programming: panels here are frequently craft-focused and long enough to get somewhere, and the moderators generally know the material. There is also a genuinely good kids' area, which makes it workable as a family weekend rather than a thing one parent does alone.
Is it worth it? If you live anywhere in the middle of the country, this is your show and there is no real competitor — the alternative is flying to a coast. If you already attend two or three large conventions a year on the coasts, C2E2 will feel familiar rather than revelatory, though the artist lineup is consistently strong. It is best understood as the most complete general-purpose fan convention between the coasts.
What to know: McCormick Place is not downtown and the walk from most hotels is longer than the map suggests; use the shuttles or plan for a train. Chicago in late April can be forty degrees and windy off the lake regardless of what the forecast promised. Food inside is expensive and mediocre — eat before or walk to the south loop. Buy exclusives Friday morning or accept you will not get them. And the smaller press tables at the back of artist alley are where the finds are.
It belongs here because a healthy convention in the middle of the country is a real indicator about where fandom lives, and it is not only on the coasts. C2E2 2027 runs April 30 – May 2, 2027 at McCormick Place.

Everyone tells you Saturday is the day. They are wrong, and the veterans have quietly known it for years.
Thursday is thinner. Hall H is already firing, the floor is fully open, and the building hums at a register the weekend spectacle never quite reaches. Studios like to drop their surprise announcements here — timed to land at the exact point in the news cycle that buys them buzz for the rest of the week — so the reveals that feel realest happen before most of the city has even arrived.
A Thursday badge is not a lesser badge. Every programming room, every screening, every exhibit, Artist Alley signings running start to finish. Outside, the Gaslamp fills with off-site activations from studios that never scored convention space, plenty of them free with a badge scan or open to anyone walking past.
Send this to the friend who has lost the badge lottery a decade running. Tell them to stop aiming for the weekend.

By mid-morning the building is running at capacity in every direction at once, and you have to choose. That is the real experience of Friday — not the lines, not the swag, but the low-grade grief of knowing that whatever room you pick means three rooms you will never see.
Hall H is deep into its schedule. Ballroom 20 holds the overflow that did not make the Hall H line. A Friday badge gets you the exhibit floor, Artist Alley, and every programming room, and the best parts are unscheduled by design: merch drops, studio activations, a face you recognize walking a booth with no announcement. Outside, the offsites hit peak operation — studios build entire pop-ups across the surrounding blocks, badge or no badge — and the Gaslamp runs convention menus and parties that spill into the street.
Take the trolley or a rideshare; the lots downtown fill early.
Send it to the person you always text photos to from inside. Bring them instead.
