Oct 30 – Oct 31, 2026 Academy LA, 6021 Hollywood Blvd, L…

Bass house is what happened when somebody decided UK garage needed to be angrier. It is not a subtle genre and it does not want to be, and there is a real pleasure in a room that has stopped pretending otherwise. AC Slater runs Night Bass, a label and party that spent a decade building the American home for this sound almost entirely outside the festival circuit — club rooms, a devoted mailing list, and a crowd that treats the label like a team they support. That is an unusual thing to have built in dance music, where most brands are a logo on a stage. Night Bass nights have regulars who recognize each other. Halloween weekend on Hollywood Boulevard, which means the costumes will be committed and the room will be at capacity by midnight. Doors at ten on Friday the thirtieth, running until three.

Somebody has to make the enormous records. Not every night wants a challenging one, and there is an honest craft in building something designed to work on twenty thousand people at once. Morten is the Danish producer who spent years developing what he and David Guetta named future rave — a harder, darker take on big-room built for main stages, and a sound that got copied fast enough that its origin is already getting forgotten. Hearing it in a Hollywood club of a few hundred rather than a festival field is a genuinely different experience: the production is designed for distance, so up close it hits considerably harder than intended. Halloween night proper, on the boulevard, and the room will be entirely in costume. Ten at night on Saturday the thirty-first.

Desert Hearts & Justin Martin All Night Long
Nov 14, 2026 Academy LA, 6021 Hollywood Blvd, L…

Most club nights are built around a handoff — somebody plays an hour, the room resets, you start reading the crowd again from scratch. The reason people drive in for this one is that it refuses to do that. One crew, one booth, the whole night, which means hour four is allowed to sound nothing like hour one and still belong to the same evening. Desert Hearts came out of the California desert as a campout where the dancefloor never stopped, and the thing that followed them indoors is not a sound so much as a set of manners: people introduce themselves, nobody films the drop, the front rail is not a status object. Bringing Justin Martin in for an all-night format is the tell that this is aimed at the people who already know how it goes rather than at a lineup poster. Anyone who has done a sunrise in Los Coyotes will recognise the pacing immediately. Ten at night, Hollywood Boulevard, and it goes as long as it goes. Somewhere in the desert there is a version of this with no roof on it.

Copa Del Rave — World Cup Final Watch Party at Academy LA
Jul 19, 2026 Academy LA, 6021 Hollywood Blvd, L…

Somebody decided the World Cup Final should not be watched in a sports bar. Or on a couch. They built a room where the music is scored to the match, where the drop hits when the goal does, and where the crews curating each night — Afrobeats To The World, Gasolina, Reggaeton Rave, Haitian Spotlight — have spent the entire tournament running toward this single night. July 19 at Academy LA is Copa Del Rave's last match. The Wednesday night DJ residencies since the group stage have all been rehearsals for this room. The first half hour after the final whistle, regardless of who lifts the trophy, is the moment people who came to these parties will remember for the rest of their lives. The crowd is the rare one where soccer culture and electronic music are not pretending to coexist. The 2026 Final happens on US soil for the first time since 1994. Most of LA will watch it on a screen with the sound off. The room at Academy LA will be the one place in the city where the sound is the whole point. Academy LA, 6021 Hollywood Blvd. Doors at 9 PM. 21+. Tickets at academy.la. This is the kind of night that defines what World Cup summer felt like in Los Angeles in 2026.

Copa Del Rave: World Cup 2026 Watch Parties — Academy LA
Jul 4 – Jul 5, 2026 Academy LA, 6021 Hollywood Blvd, L…

Los Angeles has an unexpected World Cup tradition: part soccer watch party, part EDM rave, part cultural celebration. Copa Del Rave turns FIFA match days into full-scale events at Academy LA. The 2026 FIFA World Cup Quarterfinals (July 4-5) bring Copa Del Rave to its peak intensity. Match nights pair live DJ sets from world-class talent — including Claude VonStroke, Ardalan, DJ Minx, and curator crews representing Afrobeats, Reggaeton, Haitian, and Brazilian musical communities — with live soccer on the big screen, multi-room sound, and the kind of crowd energy that only happens when your country is playing. What makes Copa Del Rave different from a normal sports bar: the music is not background. The DJs set the emotional tempo of the match. When your team scores, the drop hits. The diaspora crews — Afrobeats To The World, Gasolina, Reggaeton Rave, Haitian Spotlight — turn each match into a cultural homecoming. Fans who have never been to a rave and ravers who have never watched soccer both belong here. QF Watch Parties run July 4-5 at Academy LA (Hollywood). Tickets available at Academy LA and copadelrave.com. 21+. Doors open at 9pm.

Nicky Romero
Oct 2 – Oct 3, 2026 Academy LA, 6021 Hollywood Blvd, L…

Every scene has a year that its people will defend to the death, and for a certain age bracket that year is 2012. The records were enormous and slightly stupid and made for festival fields, and admitting you still love them is a small act of courage. Nicky Romero was one of the architects. The Dutch wave of that era — big rooms, bigger drops, melodies engineered to work at a distance of two hundred metres — reshaped what mainstream dance music sounded like for the rest of the decade. He has kept working through every subsequent fashion, which means the sets now move between the old anthems and whatever he thinks is worth playing tonight. Hollywood Boulevard on the first Friday of October, doors at ten, going until three.

Trance is the genre people apologize for liking. It got left behind by every publication that decides which music counts, and the fans stayed anyway, which is why a trance room feels less like a club and more like a reunion of people who were told their thing was over and quietly declined to agree. Nic Chagall and Bossi have been at it since 1999. Two Germans, thirty-odd years of records between them, and a live approach built entirely around the long build — the thing trance does that no other dance genre commits to, where a track spends four full minutes climbing before it gives you anything. In a room full of people who know exactly when the drop lands, the moment before it is better than the drop. The Hollywood Boulevard room has the ceiling height this music needs. Saturday the twenty-sixth, doors at ten, running to three.

While you are looking Different scene, same night out.

The same performer in a desert saloon is a different proposition than in a city lodge hall, and anybody who goes to both on one tour will tell you the second one is where the strange material comes out. Alone at a piano, the writing that two well-known bands used to bury under arrangements sits completely exposed — stacked imagery, a voice that fights its own melody, songs that resolve in places you did not expect. Wednesday night out past Yucca Valley draws a small room of people who made a deliberate two-hour decision. Music at 9:00 PM in Pioneertown. Following one artist across a couple of very different rooms in a single week is the sort of thing this circuit makes possible, and people out here do it routinely.

Pokémon Night Out Concert — Los Angeles 2026
Oct 24, 2026 Intuit Dome, 3930 W Century Blvd, …

You have had the theme song stuck in your head since you were eight. Somebody finally built a rave out of it. Marshmello and Alison Wonderland headline with sets constructed entirely around that universe — the 30th anniversary show for the generation that grew up with the games, the cards, and the music. Eighteen thousand people, most of them in costume, none of them embarrassed. This is not a tribute act. The Pokémon Company produced it, and the lineup was chosen to match the feeling rather than the nostalgia: artists who already work at the intersection of electronic music and the visual world those games built. The production treats the music as source material instead of set dressing. Intuit Dome, 300 W Prairie Ave, Inglewood. October 24, 2026. This is what a 30th anniversary looks like when the people behind it understood that the audience grew up too.

Lenny Pearce: Toddler Rave
Oct 28, 2026 $25+ The Wiltern, 3790 Wilshire Blvd, L…

Yes, you read that right: a rave for toddlers. Australian sensation Lenny Pearce takes the drops, the bass, and the glowstick euphoria of a real dance party and rebuilds it for the under-five crowd, turning nursery rhymes into techno bangers while a room full of tiny humans and their delighted, sleep-deprived parents lose their minds on a Wednesday morning. It is the most joyfully absurd family outing you will have all year, and the parents secretly have as much fun as the kids. Wednesday, October 28, 2026, The Wiltern in Los Angeles. Wear neon, bring the noise-canceling headphones for the littlest ones, and let your toddler experience their first proper drop. This is the kind of wonderfully strange, only-in-this-era event you'll be telling people about for weeks. Come rave responsibly, juice boxes included.

The Beyond / Pieces
Oct 29, 2026 New Beverly Cinema, 7165 Beverly B…

Fulci stopped pretending he cared whether a plot closed. He cared whether an image would follow you home, and The Beyond is where that became the whole method: a Louisiana hotel built over one of the seven gateways to hell, set pieces that flatly contradict each other, and a closing shot so bleak it lands like a door shutting from the outside. Then Pieces, a Spanish production whose tagline promised it was exactly what you think it is, which remains the most honest marketing of its decade, cut with the logic of a bad dream and scored like a daytime serial. These are not good films in the sense that phrase usually carries, and the crowd that turns up knows precisely what it came for, because half the pleasure is a full room laughing and flinching in all the wrong places at once. Both on 35mm, two nights before Halloween at the New Beverly on Beverly Blvd. Get there for 7:30 if you want both.

Tuba Skinny
Nov 9, 2026 Pappy & Harriet's, 53688 Pioneerto…

Recorded music solved availability and quietly broke something else: almost nobody now hears a band that learned to play by being heard on a sidewalk. This one did. They built an audience busking on Royal Street in New Orleans, playing repertoire mostly older than 1930 — rags, blues, string-band tunes pulled off shellac — with no amplification and no setlist, reading the crowd in front of them. That habit survives the move indoors. The washboard and the cornet do the arguing; the tuba holds the floor. There is no click track and there is no screen. Out here the room is a wood-floored saloon in the high desert where the audience is a mix of Joshua Tree locals, weekenders who came for the rocks and stayed for the music, and a few people who drove two hours specifically for this. Music at 8:00 PM in Pioneertown. Get there early enough to eat — the kitchen is the other half of why people make this drive, and the line for it forms before the band does.

Nov 12, 2026 The Vermont, 1020 N Vermont Ave, L…

Most people in this country have never heard a santur played live, and could not tell you what one looks like. It is a hammered dulcimer, Persian, seventy-two strings, played with two small mallets, and the sound it makes is closer to rain on a metal roof than to anything in a Western orchestra. Hearing it for the first time reliably does something to people that they struggle to describe afterward. What makes this night worth the drive is that it is not a preservation concert. The instrument is run through live electronic production — loops, texture, ambient beds — which is exactly the kind of thing that gets purists annoyed and everyone else transfixed. The Iranian diaspora in Los Angeles is large enough and old enough that a room like this fills with two entirely different crowds who did not expect to be standing next to each other. That double audience is the reason to go. You will be beside people who grew up with this sound in their parents' house and people who found it through ambient playlists, and both are correct. Thursday November 12, 7:30 PM, at The Vermont in East Hollywood.
