WonderCon Anaheim 2027
Mar 26 – Mar 28, 2027 Anaheim Convention Center, 800 W K…

Everyone has a friend who has spent a decade losing the badge lottery down in San Diego. This is where you take them. Same organization runs it, same programming instincts, and a floor you can actually cross without a strategy meeting. Sixty thousand people rather than six figures, which is the difference between a convention and an evacuation drill. Publisher booths, artist alley, preview screenings, exclusive merch, and the Saturday-night masquerade, which is the flagship — costumes built over months, walked in front of a crowd that knows exactly how hard the seams were. Because the badges are gettable and the halls are navigable, it has quietly become the best first convention a person can have. Families bring kids. First-timers stop being first-timers. The panel access is still real. Anaheim Convention Center, three days in March, badges on sale months ahead with the good tiers moving fast. Take the person who has been saying next year about the other one for a decade. End the streak.

WonderCon Anaheim 2027 — Preview Night
Mar 25, 2027 Anaheim Convention Center, 800 W K…

Vendors are still cutting boxes open when you walk in, and the exclusives are all sitting untouched on the shelf. Nobody has bought anything yet. The whole hall is laid out in front of you, quiet, and for a few hours you get to learn it before it becomes a scrum. That is the reward for planning far enough ahead. Premium badge holders get the floor, the exclusives, and artist alley first — convention-only limited editions, publisher variants, and pieces from the most in-demand creators that are simply gone by Saturday afternoon. Programming is deliberately thin, a handful of panels and screenings, because the point is the floor: map it, mark what you want, buy before the competition arrives. Access requires the full weekend badge; there is no single-day version of this evening. The Anaheim convention center, with shuttles and the rail station close. The people who plan ahead have already decided. Decide alongside them.

WonderCon Anaheim 2027 — Saturday
Mar 27, 2027 Anaheim Convention Center, 800 W K…

The whole case for this convention is a math problem. You can actually reach three or four things you cared about in a single day. At the bigger show you pick one and spend the afternoon in a line for it. Saturday is the peak — Hall B panels with talent in the room, the exhibit floor and artist alley at full activity, exclusive merch lines, and the masquerade final in the evening. That last one is the sleeper: judged on craftsmanship and performance, and the entrants treat the competition exactly as seriously as they treated the building of the costume. Same production ambition as the bigger convention, in a footprint you can cross without a strategy meeting. Saturday single-day badges go first; the full convention runs the weekend in Anaheim. Send it to the friend who has been sewing for months with nowhere to take it. This is the room.

WonderCon Anaheim 2027 — Sunday
Mar 28, 2027 Anaheim Convention Center, 800 W K…

Ask a veteran convention-goer which day they actually love and a surprising number will say the last one — when the urgency has drained out and what is left is a hall full of people who came for the same thing, quietly aware it is ending for another year. Sunday is the undervalued badge. Crowds thin. Artist Alley cuts prices on whatever is left rather than haul it home. Vendors bundle things that were not bundled on Friday. Publishers discount remaining stock. The competition for panel seats evaporates and the convention finally becomes a social space instead of a logistics problem. Closing panels run, and next year's dates get announced on the way out the door, which hands everyone something to look forward to before they have even reached the parking structure. Take the train and stay until they sweep the floor. The last hour is the one people remember.

Reptile Super Show
Oct 4, 2026 $27+ Anaheim Convention Center, 800 W K…

Walk into a convention hall that has been taken over, wall to wall, by thousands of snakes, lizards, tortoises, tarantulas, geckos, and creatures you didn't know were legal to own, and you understand instantly why the reptile community calls this the mothership. Reptile Super Show, billed as the world's largest reptile expo, is a genuinely surreal, gloriously nerdy scene: hardcore breeders, wide-eyed kids, ball pythons in every color nature never intended, and enough feeder crickets to fill a nightmare. Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4, 2026, at the Anaheim Convention Center. Come to gawk, come to learn, come to accidentally fall in love with a bearded dragon. Bring the friend who's secretly always wanted a snake, and the one who'll scream. It is equal parts petting zoo, marketplace, and fever dream. Cold-blooded, and completely fascinating.

Six in the morning. The drop goes live. Your fingers move faster than your brain and the page reloads to SOLD OUT — and that hollow drop in your chest is the exact feeling an entire culture got built on top of. The culture has a room, and this is it. The pair you have been hunting for three years is sitting on a folding table ten feet away, and the guy behind it knows precisely what he has. Deadstock, vintage, customs, and the heat that never survives a resale listing because somebody wanted to hold it in their hands first. Every table is a negotiation. Every collector in the aisles is scanning for the one thing nobody else has clocked yet. Two days at the Anaheim Convention Center, doors late morning through evening, buy online before you go. Go with the friend who talks you out of things. Then watch them buy first, and try to be gracious about it.

BlizzCon 2026 — Anaheim Convention Center
Sep 13, 2026 Anaheim Convention Center, 800 W K…

You have friends whose real names you do not know. You have played with them for years, you would notice within a day if they went quiet, and you have never seen their face. That is a real relationship, and the world keeps insisting it is not. This is the weekend it becomes physical. World premieres, developers who actually wrote the code walking through what they built, esports played live in a room that shakes, hands-on demos of games that will not ship for months, and an opening ceremony that gets you even when you knew it was coming. The floor fills with playable stations, artist signings, cosplay contests, and meetups where a guild finally stands in one place at one time. Anaheim Convention Center, doors at 10 AM both days, passes through Tixr, cosplay encouraged. Send it to the guild. Watch how fast that channel lights up, and how quickly somebody starts pricing flights.

LAcon V / Worldcon 2026
Aug 27 – Aug 31, 2026 From $125 Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim…

The conversation that starts at a panel and is still going two hours later in a hotel lobby - between a first-timer and someone who has come every year since the 1970s - is the part of Worldcon nobody photographs, and it is the reason people build their August around it. If science fiction has genuinely shaped how you think, this is the room where the people who built the genre gather to decide what it becomes next. This is the 84th World Science Fiction Convention, founded in 1939, and it is where the Hugo Awards - the genre's highest honor - are presented. Five days of programming dense enough to require a spreadsheet: panels with authors whose books shaped how you see the world, an Art Show of original science fiction and fantasy illustration available for purchase, a Film Festival, and the Masquerade, one of the world's most ambitious costume competitions, where attendees spend months building a creation for a single stage walk. But the truest texture lives in the hallways, and the community here is multigenerational in a way almost no other genre event is. Every attending member votes on the Hugo ballot, which gives you a reason to read widely before you even arrive. If you have opinions about where the genre is going and want to be in the room where those conversations happen, this is that room - not a pop-culture spectacle but a literary gathering with the scale to match. This is worth every dollar for the reader for whom the genre is a frame for understanding the world, not casual entertainment. A few practical notes. First-time attendees qualify for a $200 membership rate instead of the standard $250 adult price - register explicitly as a first-timer at lacon.org to save fifty dollars. The Hugo ceremony is a formal evening event; bring something nicer than a convention T-shirt. Programming is community-generated: attendees propose and vote on panels, so the schedule reflects genuine fan priorities rather than a corporate team. Book the Hilton Anaheim or Anaheim Marriott to stay in the convention hotels and maximize hallway time. The Art Show sells original work, so budget separately for it. Worldcon returns to Los Angeles for the first time since 2006, at a moment when science fiction's reach - through streaming, gaming, and AI - has never been broader while the literary community that seeded all of it has never been more visible. The writers in those panel rooms are the ones shaping how space travel, artificial intelligence, and social change will feel to readers a generation from now. That conversation happens August 27-31 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Anime Impulse Orange County 2026
Aug 22 – Aug 23, 2026 Anaheim Convention Center, 800 W K…

An importer unrolls something that circulates at exactly these shows and nowhere else, and two tables down an artist is selling work she made specifically for this weekend. Neither thing exists on Amazon. That is the whole reason to come. It runs less like a convention than a market: merch, fan art, imported goods, tiny runs that are gone by afternoon, spread across two full days in a hall large enough to let it breathe. The move is to split it. Saturday for the rush, Sunday for the second pass, when the lines shorten and an artist has time to tell you what a piece actually is. Sunday is where people find the thing still framed on their wall years later. Anaheim Convention Center on West Katella Avenue, a straight run off the 5 or the 57, admission through animeimpulse.com. Bring the friend whose wall is running out of room.

VidCon 2026 — Anaheim, CA
Jun 25 – Jun 27, 2026 Anaheim Convention Center, 800 W K…

Millions of subscribers, thousands of fans, several days in Anaheim — the moment the people on the other side of the screen become real. VidCon is where the parasocial relationship finds its physical address. What it feels like to be there: VidCon operates on a different logic than most entertainment conventions. The celebrities here are creators who built their audience one subscriber at a time — the recognition runs both ways in a way it rarely does at traditional fan events. A creator who makes videos for 2 million subscribers genuinely knows the specific language and inside jokes of their audience, and the interactions in hallways and signing lines reflect that. The energy is different from comic conventions: less cosplay, more collaboration and mutual recognition between people who have been watching each other's content for years. Is it worth it? VidCon is for people who consume content online and want to experience its creators in person, or for people building a creator career who want access to industry conversations that do not exist elsewhere. Community Track provides the fan-meeting experience. Creator Track has panels and workshops taught by people who figured out what you are still trying to figure out. Featured Creator panels are the highest-demand events and require early arrival. What to know before you go: The Anaheim Convention Center is large, and VidCon fills all of it — reviewing the schedule the night before and planning your route through the building is essential, not optional. Lines form early for Featured Creator events; arrive 30-60 minutes ahead for the creators you most want to see. The Anaheim Resort Transit or a nearby hotel within walking distance are practical alternatives to convention center parking. Programming emphasis shifts between days, with Creator and Industry days having different energy from Community days. VidCon matters because it documents a cultural shift that happened faster than most institutions could track. The most-watched content on Earth in 2026 was made by individuals in their homes, not studios — and VidCon is where the people who made that happen gather to meet the communities that chose them. That is a historically unusual thing, and watching it in person is worth understanding even if you never attend. 2026 specifics: This is VidCon Anaheim 15th anniversary edition. The biggest new addition is a dedicated AI and Innovation Track -- the first VidCon to formally address AI tools as a creator discipline. For anyone building a content business in 2026, this track will be the most talked-about room at the convention. Honest split: Creator Pass holders consistently rate VidCon as worth it for education and networking. Community track holders are increasingly mixed -- the fan experience peaked around 2018-2019 as brand activations thinned. The value depends entirely on which track you buy. 55,000 attendees expected.

You know the type. Keeps a separate folder for the cards they will never sell, can tell you what a binder smells like, texts one specific friend the second a set drops. For years that person has driven to a different little shop for every game they love — Pokemon one weekend, One Piece the next, Lorcana somewhere across town. This is the weekend all of it lands in the same building. Pokemon, One Piece, Riftbound, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Lorcana and Magic share one convention floor: vendors deep enough to turn up the card you have been hunting for years, tables to trade and play, and the rare overlap where competitive grinders and vintage collectors finally walk the same aisles. Part flea market, part reunion, part the dig you have been putting off. Anaheim Convention Center, 800 West Katella Avenue. If you already know what a good pull feels like in your chest, nobody has to talk you into this one.

D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event
Aug 14 – Aug 16, 2026 Anaheim Convention Center, 800 W K…

Every couple of years one room decides what the next two years of your imagination are going to look like, and the people who care most find out together, in person, before the internet gets its hands on it. Friday is film and television. Saturday is the parks, the resorts, the cruise ships. Sunday is the Legends ceremony, where the company honors the people who actually built the thing, and it is reliably the day that wrecks the adults in the room. In between: Marvel reveals, Star Wars announcements, next-generation park concepts, animation premieres, and the surprises deliberately held back for this audience and no other. The convention center sits within walking distance of the park itself, and for the full week the streets around it fill with fan meetups and pop-ups nobody officially organized. General admission gets you the main hall; higher tiers add reserved seats and merch that will not exist again. Text the friend whose entire personality is a theme park. You already know which one.

West Coast Card Show — Anaheim Convention Center 2026
Jul 16 – Jul 19, 2026 Anaheim Convention Center, Hall D,…

There is a specific electricity to a room where everyone is hunting. Not shopping — hunting. Four days in a hall the size of an airfield, and every person walking it is after one exact thing: the card that finishes the set, the graded slab from the year that matters to them, the pull they've chased since they were a kid opening packs on the floor. The West Coast Card Show got so big the organizers had to stop taking vendor applications — which tells you everything about how hard this community shows up. Pokémon, One Piece, Magic, and sports cards each get their own stretch of the floor, live grading runs all weekend, and the aisles fill with the particular focus of people who know precisely what they're after. You go in for one card and lose four hours to the search, which is the point. Hall D, Anaheim Convention Center — July 16–19, minutes from Disneyland. Details at westcoastcardshow.com. Bring the want-list you've been keeping in your head.

The alarm goes off at 5 AM. The meal prep is in the fridge. The program is on the phone. Six months of that, and now you need to be in a room where everyone else did the same thing and nobody thinks it's weird. TheFitExpo takes over Hall B of the Anaheim Convention Center for a weekend of competitions you can watch for free with your ticket — Dream Jiu-Jitsu, NPC bodybuilding, the Epic Series Obstacle Course, arm wrestling, Battle of the Bars, and the Strong by Zumba Challenge. Between the stages, 250+ exhibition booths sell the supplements, the gear, the tech, and the protein bars that taste almost like food. Influencer meet-and-greets. Workout demos. Seminars that actually teach you something. This is the fitness expo that treats the culture like a culture — not a sales floor. The bodybuilders and the jiu-jitsu competitors and the CrossFitters and the yoga people are all in the same building, and the thing they have in common is that they showed up. August 29–30, 2026. Anaheim Convention Center Hall B, 800 W Katella Ave, Anaheim, CA 92802. Saturday and Sunday 9:30 AM–5 PM. Tickets from $39 at AXS.

Some knowledge you cannot buy: which panels are worth lining up an hour early for, which guest signings empty out fast, which late-night rooms never make it onto the printed schedule. Regulars hand that down to each other here, and it is the real inheritance of a convention that has been meeting for over two decades. The tradeoff for running smaller than Anime Expo is access. To the guests, who trend toward voice actors and fan creators who build their year around Southern California cons. To the programming, which you can actually get into. To each other — the dealer room and artist alley run at a scale where you can move without turning sideways. Four days at the Long Beach Convention Center, January 7-10, 2027, and they open the convention calendar for the whole region. Send this to whoever you stood next to in line last year. Sakura-Con 2027 — Seattle, WA
Mar 26, 2027 Seattle Convention Center, 705 Pik…

The oldest and largest anime convention in the Pacific Northwest was started by a group of college students in the mid-nineties, back when liking this at all required explaining yourself, and it is still run entirely by volunteers. That fact shapes everything about the weekend. Nobody is extracting margin from you. The programming is built by people who wanted it to exist rather than by a department, which is why the schedule is full of things no commercial convention would ever green-light. What that produces is a convention with an unusually high proportion of actual content — panels running past midnight, a serious concert program, a masquerade that people prepare for over months, and a video programming track that still shows things on a screen in a dark room to whoever wanders in. There is a formal ball. There is a chess tournament. The dealer hall is large but is not the center of gravity, which at an anime convention in the current era is genuinely unusual. The crowd skews younger than the older-guard conventions and the atmosphere is closer to a very large school event than to a trade show, in the best possible way. Worth it? If you want a convention where the programming rather than the shopping is the reason to be there, this is one of a handful left in the country, and it is the best of them on the West Coast outside of Los Angeles. If you are coming primarily for big-name industry announcements, the larger shows will serve you better. Sakura-Con is for people who want to spend three days inside the thing rather than adjacent to it. What to know before you go: registration opens early and the price ladder rewards buying well ahead. Late March in Seattle means rain, and the walk between the convention center and most hotels is short but unsheltered. The concerts are included with a badge and fill up, so line early for the ones you care about. Bring cash for artist alley. And the volunteer staff will genuinely help you if you ask, because they are attendees too. It belongs on this list because a thirty-year-old, volunteer-run, still-thriving convention is evidence that a community can build something durable without anyone monetizing it, and that is worth knowing exists. Sakura-Con 2027 runs March 26–28, 2027 at the Seattle Convention Center.

Anime Riverside 2027 — Inland Empire Convention
May 29 – May 31, 2027 Riverside Convention Center, 3637 …

An hour to Los Angeles for the big convention, an hour back at one in the morning — that is what being an anime fan out here has always meant. This is the year that stopped. There is a real pride in a room full of people from Riverside, San Bernardino, Temecula and Redlands who finally did not have to leave home to find each other. It is the whole format at a scale you can actually walk: panels, an exhibit hall, artist alley, gaming rooms, and a cosplay contest judged by a crowd that recognizes the characters without being told. No airport-terminal sprawl. That trade was made on purpose — less distance between you and the thing you came for. The convention takes over the Riverside Convention Center downtown, with dates confirming at animeriverside.com. Bring the friends who made that drive with you one too many times.

Anime Expo 2027 — Day 3 (Saturday)
Jul 3, 2027 Los Angeles Convention Center, 120…

The Masquerade streams live every year, and watching the stream is a completely different event from sitting in that hall. On a screen you see a costume. In the room you see the seams — the thermoplastic, the wiring, the months somebody spent on a shoulder piece nobody was ever supposed to notice. Hundreds of competitors, judged on craft and on performance, and the noise when a build lands is unlike anything else all weekend. Saturday is the peak of the whole convention. The biggest announcements come out on Saturday. The panel halls hit capacity on Saturday. Artist Alley lines wrap around entire wings, English voice actors do live readings, and Japanese creators appear in person or beamed in from across the ocean. Come early for the exclusives, then return to the exhibit floor after the main panels, when it briefly calms down. The Expo Line lets you out right there. Badges go first for this day. Ask the friend you always lose in Artist Alley.

Anime Expo 2027 — Day 4 (Sunday)
Jul 4, 2027 Los Angeles Convention Center, 120…

Everyone chases the opening days — the announcements, the premieres, the Hall H-sized adrenaline. The people who know AX chase the last one. Sunday is when the world's largest anime convention exhales: the lines go short, the floor slows down, and the conversations finally stop being shouted between panels and start being real. It's also the day the floor gets generous. Artist Alley cuts prices to clear the table, exhibitors let exclusive merch go at a discount, and the Closing Ceremonies — the weekend cosplay recap, the Masquerade awards, the official goodbye — mark the moment four days of strangers become the community that'll wait a whole year to reassemble. Day 4 badges are the easiest to find on resale and the most underrated ticket of the convention. And in 2027 the finale lands on the Fourth of July, with fireworks visible from parts of the LACC plaza depending on which way they launch. Anime Expo 2027, Sunday July 4, Los Angeles Convention Center. Take Metro or rideshare — downtown parking and traffic are brutal on the Fourth. Come for the goodbye; it's the part that stays with you.
