Smorgasburg LA
Every Sunday · Next Oct 11 Free ROW DTLA, 777 S Alameda St, Los An…

Sunday is the hardest day to plan and the easiest to waste, and the fix a lot of people in this city landed on is simply going where the food is and letting the afternoon happen. Dozens of vendors set up in the old rail yard buildings south of the Arts District — many of them businesses that exist only here, run by people who are testing whether the thing they make can support them. That is the actual draw. Several restaurants that Angelenos now treat as institutions started as a folding table at this market, and you can usually tell which stalls are on that trajectory by the length of the line at eleven in the morning. Entry is free and the first two hours of parking are too, which makes it one of the few genuinely low-commitment ways to spend a Sunday here. Every Sunday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at ROW DTLA on South Alameda. The vendor list rotates constantly, so the people who come once tend to come back to see what changed.

Smorgasburg Los Angeles — July 2026
Every Sunday · Next Oct 11 Free admission ROW DTLA, 777 S Alameda St, Los An…

Most of these vendors do not have a restaurant yet. That is the whole appeal — you are eating the concept a year before it has a lease. Fifty to eighty independent operations, nearly all of them selling one signature thing and betting everything on it. Japanese milk bread. Birria tacos. Nashville hot chicken. Hawaiian poke. Filipino ube desserts. Korean corn dogs. Birria ramen. Design, vintage and craft sellers fill in around the food, and the seating is spread across an open plaza in the warehouse district rather than crammed into a hall. It is the West Coast outpost of the Brooklyn original, and it runs rain or shine, year-round, every Sunday. ROW DTLA, 777 S Alameda St, Los Angeles. 10 AM to 4 PM. Free admission, free parking on the property, and the Metro station at Little Tokyo/Arts District is a 10-minute walk. Budget $20 to $40. Go with someone who orders differently than you do, and split everything.

Pickwick Vintage Show at ROW DTLA — July 2026
Jul 11, 2026 0 ROW DTLA, 777 S Alameda St, Los An…

ROW DTLA's warehouse architecture changes what a vintage market feels like. Add vetted dealers and a community that treats this as a standing appointment, and you have what Pickwick has been building in the Arts District. Expect a strong edit of vintage clothing spanning the 1950s through 1990s, vinyl records, vintage homeware, ceramics, and rare prints alongside contemporary makers whose aesthetic extends the vintage sensibility into the present. The Pickwick Vintage Show rewards repeat visits — vendors rotate, new discoveries appear, and the community that forms around the market is part of what makes it work. This is the kind of event that fashion people, interior designers, and collectors make a standing appointment. Perfect for vintage clothing seekers, Arts District regulars, and anyone looking for a weekend ritual that feels authentically LA. Free entry. Bring cash for the dealers who prefer it. Vendors rotate between editions — the July selection will differ from what appeared in June, which is why repeat visitors keep showing up.

Smorgasburg Los Angeles — May 2026
May 3, 2026 Free admission ROW DTLA, 777 S Alameda St, Los An…

Smorgasburg Los Angeles runs every Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM at ROW DTLA, an open-air market and arts complex in the warehouse district south of the Arts District. The event is a West Coast outpost of the Brooklyn original — the largest weekly open-air food market in the country. On any given Sunday there are 50 to 80 food vendors, almost all of them small independent operations selling a single signature item. The variety is genuinely broad: Japanese milk bread, birria tacos, Nashville hot chicken, Hawaiian poke, Filipino ube desserts, Korean corn dogs, birria ramen, artisanal ice cream. Many vendors are pre-restaurant — this is where they test concepts before opening a brick-and-mortar. The complex also hosts design, vintage, and craft vendors alongside the food. Seating is spread across the open plaza. It operates rain or shine year-round. ROW DTLA is at 777 S Alameda St, Los Angeles. Parking is free on the property. Metro Gold Line Little Tokyo/Arts District station is a 10-minute walk. Admission is free. Budget $20–40 for food.

Taste of Soul LA 2026
In 10 days · Oct 17 Free Crenshaw Blvd (Martin Luther King …

The smell reaches you before the stages do - barbecue and catfish and soul food covering a mile-plus of Crenshaw Boulevard, because every major Black-owned restaurant in South LA has a booth out here and the food is the center of the whole thing. For one Saturday in October, this stretch between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Leimert Park Village becomes one of the largest street festivals in Los Angeles. More than 300,000 people move through in a single day. The format is street vendors, restaurant booths, live music stages, a car show, health screenings, and community organization presence - but it is the food and the crowd that make it. Founded by the Los Angeles Sentinel, the oldest Black-owned newspaper in California, it has run for over two decades and stayed a genuine community institution: multigenerational, neighborhood-rooted, and enormous. This is Leimert Park and Crenshaw at their fullest. Free to attend. Crenshaw closes to traffic for the day. The Metro K Line stops at Leimert Park Village and is the easiest way in and out. Arrive early if you want to move - by noon the crowds are deep.

The artist alley is the part you actually remember. Not the panels, not the autograph line - the folding table where someone your age was selling a print of a character you thought only you cared about, and you stood there too long, and they said the show's name back to you like a password. Conventions have gotten expensive enough that a lot of people have quietly stopped going. This is that same feeling without the badge: an outdoor artist alley and vendor market in Little Tokyo, free to walk into, with performances and cosplay and a swap-meet corner where people clear out the figures and doujinshi they have outgrown. Free attendance changes who shows up - you get the teenagers and the people who have been in this since the VHS-fansub era standing at the same table. One real detail: vendor spaces run seventy-five dollars, first come, which is why the mix of sellers is different every year instead of the same corporate booths. Sunday, October 18, noon to eight, 244 San Pedro St, Los Angeles.

San Diego Beer Week 2026 (17th Annual)
Nov 7 – Nov 15, 2026 Varies by event — see sdbw.org Various venues across San Diego, C…

For ten days in November, the most brewery-dense city in America stops acting like a collection of taprooms and starts acting like one. That's what San Diego Beer Week actually is — not an event you buy a ticket to, but a signal the whole county sends at once: hundreds of bars, breweries, and restaurants each cracking something they've been saving, all in the same stretch of days. This is the week the collaboration beers come out — the ones two breweries brewed together specifically for this and will never make again. AleSmith, Stone, Ballast Point, and Green Flash pull limited bottles from the back. A brand-new brewhouse three months old pours its first-ever event beer two doors down from a legend. And because San Diego has more breweries per capita than any major city in the country, the map of where to go is genuinely too big to finish — which is the fun of it. You plan a route, then get pulled off it by a stranger at the bar who tells you the rare release you actually need is across town. The full calendar drops at sdbw.org — events run from North County to South Bay, most ticketed ones under $40. Pick a neighborhood, not the whole city. You won't beat it.

Goth Clothing Swap at San Diego Goth Picnic!
Nov 14, 2026 Free Pioneer Park, 1521 Washington Pl, …

Somewhere in your closet is a beautiful black thing you have not worn in two years, and getting rid of it feels like admitting something. That is the quiet premise here. People haul bags of velvet and mesh and buckled boots to a lawn in Mission Hills, spread it all out, and trade. No register, no vendor booth, nobody making money off your nostalgia. A dress that stopped being yours becomes someone else's favorite thing by four in the afternoon, and you watch it happen in real time, which is a strange and good feeling nobody warns you about. The picnic part is literal: blankets, snacks, dogs, sunlight, a crowd dressed for a funeral enjoying an afternoon in a public park with total sincerity. It costs nothing and it is open to every age, which means teenagers who found this music last spring stand next to people who have been at it since the eighties. Bring the bag. Leave lighter than you came, in more ways than one.

Los Angeles Pinball League — Monthly Tournament
Monthly · Next Oct 13 Various venues, Los Angeles, CA

Somewhere in this city tonight there is a back room where the pinball never stopped — machines everyone assumed died with the arcades, lined up, lit up, and played for blood by people who know each ruleset cold. You thought it was nostalgia. They kept it a sport. Once a month the league runs a real tournament: matchplay, a new opponent and a random machine every round, points stacking across the night. It is IFPA-sanctioned, but that is not why the regulars come. A good table is the most honest machine there is. It does not care who you are, only whether you can read the ball. Here is what outsiders never expect: this crowd wants you to get good. Show up knowing only how to keep a ball alive and someone ranked will lean over between rounds and show you where the safe nudge is, when to let it drain on purpose. Venues rotate. Check the league's Facebook group and the IFPA calendar for this month's location. All-ages at most stops, 21+ at the bars.

LoL Worlds 2026 — Play-In Stage (Los Angeles)
In 8 days · Oct 15 – Oct 18 Riot Games Arena, 12181 Bluff Cree…

Every region sends its dark horses, and most of them go home in the first week. That is what makes the opening stage the most nervous, least predictable stretch of the whole tournament. The Play-In Stage is where teams that did not walk in with a guaranteed bracket spot have to earn one, on foreign soil, against opponents they have only ever studied on video. Nothing is safe and nobody is comfortable. Upsets that reshape the entire championship happen here, in front of a few hundred people, before the broadcast audience has fully tuned in. Riot Games Arena is the tightest, loudest room in North American esports — small enough that crowd noise reaches the stage, close enough to watch a player's posture change when a fight goes wrong. From inside that building it is a different sport. Riot Games Arena, 12181 Bluff Creek Dr, Playa Vista. October 15-18. Tickets through lolesports.com. If you have only ever watched it on stream, this is the one to go to.
