FanimeCon 2026

May 22 – May 25, 2026 Paid - $75-$120 San Jose Convention Center, 150 W …

No corporate booths dominating the floor. The panels, the screenings, the programming — all of it organized by volunteers who have been running this for decades, which gives it an atmosphere that is genuinely hard to replicate. It feels less like a trade show than the largest anime club meetup in California. It has run every Memorial Day weekend since 1994, drawing 25,000 to 30,000 people across four days. Programming runs 24 hours. The Saturday cosplay masquerade is a full theatrical production. The gaming hall is one of the best at any convention — tournaments, free-play consoles, retro arcades running through the night. In the dealer room and artist alley, indie creators outnumber corporate licensors. San Jose Convention Center, 150 W San Carlos St. Four-day badges sell out; single-day passes are sometimes available at the door. If you have done Anime Expo but never this, the culture is meaningfully different — and the difference is the point.

AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2026 – San Jose

Jun 28, 2026 SAP Center, San Jose, CA

AEW Forbidden Door 2026 — the annual supershow co-promoted by All Elite Wrestling, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, CMLL, and STARDOM — takes place at the SAP Center in San Jose on June 28, 2026. Forbidden Door is one of the most unique events in professional wrestling: four promotions from the US, Japan, and Mexico booking dream matches that would be impossible to assemble any other way. SAP Center, home of the San Jose Sharks, seats approximately 17,500 for wrestling and provides an intimate sightline setup that makes every section feel close to the action. San Jose is five hours from San Diego and three from Los Angeles — close enough that serious wrestling fans from Southern California regularly make the trip for major events at this venue. AEW brings its full roster. NJPW brings its Strong Style competitors including Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega. STARDOM brings the best women's wrestling in the world. CMLL brings lucha libre royalty. The card crosses promotional lines in ways no other event attempts — championship titles from multiple organizations can change hands on the same night. For fans of any wrestling style, Forbidden Door is the one event that covers all of it. Tickets via AEW and Ticketmaster.

Further Confusion 2025

Jan 16 – Jan 20, 2025 San Jose McEnery Convention Center…

Further Confusion, often shortened to FurCon (or just FC), is an annual furry convention in San Jose, CA. Our schedule features exciting events, educational panels, nightly dance parties, and more. At FurCon, you’ll find something fun for everyone! FurCon is an event by Anthropomorphic Arts and Education, a 501(c)(3). We are a non-profit event, and benefit a different local charity of interest to our attendees each year. We are run by a team of over 250 incredible volunteers, by and for our community. Our goals are simple: create an exciting weekend of memorable fun, while raising money for a worthwhile cause. So what’s a furry? In a general sense, the furry community is a large and diverse group of people, brought together by a shared interest in anthropomorphic animals. These are often animal or animal-themed characters in movies, cartoons, books, or comics. Many of our attendees create characters of their own, and some even attend in costume.

29th Annual LA Cancer Challenge 5K Walk/Run

Oct 25, 2026 Wilson Plaza, UCLA Campus, Los Ang…

Some races you run against the clock. This one you run against something considerably harder, and you do it in a costume. The course winds past the Bruin Bear and the John Wooden statue and finishes outside Drake Stadium, with a Candyland zone for the kids somewhere in the middle of it. Under all of the costumes, this is a gathering of survivors, families, and the people who love them, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer through the Hirshberg Foundation. For twenty-nine years it has turned grief into a costumed morning of motion — a kid in a dinosaur suit running beside somebody carrying a photograph, and nobody finding that strange for a second. You do not have to be fast. You just have to show up, in whatever costume makes the morning lighter. Everybody out there is running for a name. Bring yours.

ANIME WRESTLE-VERSE: The Ultimate Cosplay Entrance Experience

Oct 31, 2026 30 8548 Lankershim Blvd, Los Angeles,…

KnokX Pro Wrestling looked at two rooms -- anime cosplay contests and wrestling entrance theater -- and decided they belonged together. ANIME WRESTLE-VERSE is what happened when a real wrestling promotion asked: what if the cosplay walk-out was the competition? On Halloween night in North Hollywood, 275 people will watch competitors enter the ring in full anime cosplay -- theme music, character energy, crowd reaction -- competing for the Anime Wrestle-Verse Championship Belt and a 750 dollar prize pool. This is not a costume contest judged on accuracy. It is judged on the entrance. On presence. On the room reaction when you walk through that curtain. Between heats: KnokX Pro wrestling matches, a live K-pop and anime DJ, a vendor floor, food, and photo ops. The full card. This is for the person who watched wrestling and thought about doing it in cosplay. Or the cosplayer who was waiting for a stage where the walk-in matters as much as the fit. October 31, 2026. Doors 7 PM. North Hollywood, Los Angeles. Tickets: 30 dollars GA. Capacity: 275. Ages 18+.

WonderCon Anaheim 2027

Mar 26 – Mar 28, 2027 Anaheim Convention Center, 800 W K…

Everyone has a friend who has spent a decade losing the badge lottery down in San Diego. This is where you take them. Same organization runs it, same programming instincts, and a floor you can actually cross without a strategy meeting. Sixty thousand people rather than six figures, which is the difference between a convention and an evacuation drill. Publisher booths, artist alley, preview screenings, exclusive merch, and the Saturday-night masquerade, which is the flagship — costumes built over months, walked in front of a crowd that knows exactly how hard the seams were. Because the badges are gettable and the halls are navigable, it has quietly become the best first convention a person can have. Families bring kids. First-timers stop being first-timers. The panel access is still real. Anaheim Convention Center, three days in March, badges on sale months ahead with the good tiers moving fast. Take the person who has been saying next year about the other one for a decade. End the streak.

WonderCon Anaheim 2027 — Saturday

Mar 27, 2027 Anaheim Convention Center, 800 W K…

The whole case for this convention is a math problem. You can actually reach three or four things you cared about in a single day. At the bigger show you pick one and spend the afternoon in a line for it. Saturday is the peak — Hall B panels with talent in the room, the exhibit floor and artist alley at full activity, exclusive merch lines, and the masquerade final in the evening. That last one is the sleeper: judged on craftsmanship and performance, and the entrants treat the competition exactly as seriously as they treated the building of the costume. Same production ambition as the bigger convention, in a footprint you can cross without a strategy meeting. Saturday single-day badges go first; the full convention runs the weekend in Anaheim. Send it to the friend who has been sewing for months with nowhere to take it. This is the room.

Los Angeles Pinball League — Monthly Tournament

Monthly · Next Oct 13 Various venues, Los Angeles, CA

Somewhere in this city tonight there is a back room where the pinball never stopped — machines everyone assumed died with the arcades, lined up, lit up, and played for blood by people who know each ruleset cold. You thought it was nostalgia. They kept it a sport. Once a month the league runs a real tournament: matchplay, a new opponent and a random machine every round, points stacking across the night. It is IFPA-sanctioned, but that is not why the regulars come. A good table is the most honest machine there is. It does not care who you are, only whether you can read the ball. Here is what outsiders never expect: this crowd wants you to get good. Show up knowing only how to keep a ball alive and someone ranked will lean over between rounds and show you where the safe nudge is, when to let it drain on purpose. Venues rotate. Check the league's Facebook group and the IFPA calendar for this month's location. All-ages at most stops, 21+ at the bars.

LoL Worlds 2026 — Play-In Stage (Los Angeles)

In 8 days · Oct 15 – Oct 18 Riot Games Arena, 12181 Bluff Cree…

Every region sends its dark horses, and most of them go home in the first week. That is what makes the opening stage the most nervous, least predictable stretch of the whole tournament. The Play-In Stage is where teams that did not walk in with a guaranteed bracket spot have to earn one, on foreign soil, against opponents they have only ever studied on video. Nothing is safe and nobody is comfortable. Upsets that reshape the entire championship happen here, in front of a few hundred people, before the broadcast audience has fully tuned in. Riot Games Arena is the tightest, loudest room in North American esports — small enough that crowd noise reaches the stage, close enough to watch a player's posture change when a fight goes wrong. From inside that building it is a different sport. Riot Games Arena, 12181 Bluff Creek Dr, Playa Vista. October 15-18. Tickets through lolesports.com. If you have only ever watched it on stream, this is the one to go to.
