Pop that is actually well made gets dismissed twice — once for being pop, and then again for being popular. Both dismissals tend to come from people who have never watched a room of nineteen-year-olds know every word.
That room is the reason to go. This is early-career pop with real songs underneath it, and the audience is at the stage where they are not yet embarrassed about how much it means to them, which produces a volume that headliners twice the size cannot generate. Will Linley opens, working the same bright, slightly bruised territory.
A Monday, which is unusual for a downtown room this size and means the crowd is made entirely of people who genuinely rearranged their week.
Doors at seven, music at eight. October 19, House of Blues, 1055 Fifth Ave. Bring the younger cousin who sent you the song, or go alone and admit later that you liked it. Downtown gets a steady run of these rooms full of people who are not being cool about anything.

There's a band name that tells you nothing and a tour name that tells you everything. The Haunt walks that line where post-punk meets indie pop and neither side wins — which is exactly why the Voodoo Room at three hundred capacity is the right place for them. They're the band your friend who works at the record store keeps putting on when you walk in, the kind of act that sells out small rooms and never quite gets the festival slot. If you know why that distinction matters, you already know you're going. The Voodoo Room inside House of Blues San Diego is the intimate downstairs stage where the sound hits different — low ceilings, tight quarters, and a crowd that chose a Monday night show over everything else the Gaslamp had to offer. That filter is the whole point.

Every scene has a band that makes you feel like the ceiling is too low and the night is too short. Prince Daddy & The Hyena are what happens when emo kids grow up and get louder instead of quieter — the songs are big and messy and searingly honest in the way that only works when the singer sounds like they might cry or laugh and can't tell the difference. Kory Gregory's voice cracks in all the right places. If you spent any part of the last five years in basements and DIY spaces watching bands play to forty people who all knew every word, you already know what this is. The Voodoo Room is tight, the stage is low, and the barrier between the band and the pit is mostly theoretical. If you have ever screamed along to a song about being a disaster and felt, briefly, like that was the most honest thing you'd done all week — this is the show.

You loved two rooms and somebody was always telling you to pick one. Maybe it was the sanctuary you miss — the singing, the hands up, four hundred people meaning it at the same time. Maybe it was the warehouse. Either way you learned to keep half of yourself folded, because the people in each room had opinions about the other one.
Rave Jesus is made by someone who refused to fold. It is worship music built on hard dance structure, and the crowd splits visibly down the middle: kids who grew up in youth group standing beside people who came for the BPM and stayed because nobody in the room was performing irony. The tour that came before this one was called I Met God on the Dancefloor, which tells you exactly how seriously and how unseriously it holds itself at once.
A club this size makes the split impossible to hide. You get to watch two crowds work out that they are one crowd.
Thursday, November 12. Doors 7 p.m. House of Blues San Diego, 1055 Fifth Avenue. Someone is going to send a photo of this to a friend who will not believe it exists.

Fifty years is long enough that the farewell is not a marketing device, it is arithmetic. The band that put out the first British punk single in 1976 is coming through San Diego on a tour openly titled Final Damnation, and the people in that room will be doing the arithmetic too: this is likely the last time Dave Vanian fronts a room this size in this city. Punk's first record belonged to these men and they then spent four decades refusing to stay punk, drifting into gothic, psychedelic and music-hall territory that irritated purists and produced the better half of their catalogue. The Courettes open, which is a genuinely good pairing rather than filler. Seven o'clock on a Friday at a venue downtown that holds a thousand people, which is both too small for the history and exactly the right size for the noise. Bring the teenager in your life who thinks they invented this. Let them see where it came from while it is still standing in front of them.

Thirty years of screaming into a microphone and meaning every syllable. Chad Gray is the voice behind Mudvayne and Hellyeah — two bands that lived in the space between groove metal and controlled fury, and both of them left marks on a generation of fans who needed music that matched the volume inside their heads.
The 30 Years of Madness Tour is the solo run where Gray strips the arena production back to club scale. House of Blues San Diego on a Monday night means you are standing close enough to see the veins in his neck, close enough to feel the subwoofer in your ribcage. The setlist spans both bands plus solo material, and the crowd at these shows tends to be the die-hards — the ones who still know every word to “Dig” and “Determined.”

When a deathcore band hits the stage in a room built for bodies, not seats, and the double bass kicks lock into a groove so precise it feels mechanical before a breakdown rips it all apart -- that is the sound All Shall Perish invented. The Oakland band that helped define the genre in the mid-2000s returns to House of Blues San Diego on October 2, bringing technical precision and breakneck tempo shifts that influenced a decade of heavy music.
All Shall Perish's return is not a nostalgia act. The genre they helped build has continued evolving, and a live show proves that the original architects still hit harder than the inheritors. If you were in the pit for The Price of Existence or Awaken the Dreamers, you already have this date marked. If you were not, this is where you learn why those albums still matter.

Some lineups do not need an introduction. They need a warning. The Exploited has been making British street punk sound like a brick through a window since 1979. Angry Samoans turned Southern California hardcore into something your parents specifically warned you about in the early '80s. Total Chaos brought LA street punk to stages that probably wished they had not agreed to it. Three bands, one night, one room that is going to smell like sweat and sound like the right kind of trouble.
This is not a nostalgia show. These bands never stopped. The Exploited is still touring behind nearly five decades of being too loud, Angry Samoans still play like they might break something, and Total Chaos still headlines bills that turn venues inside out. The Voodoo Room at House of Blues San Diego is the right-sized room for this — close enough to feel the stage shake, loud enough that you will hear the set in your dreams for two days.
If you know someone who grew up on this music, they already know about this show. If you know someone who needs to discover it, this is the night.

House of Blues San Diego, 1055 Fif…
A Hammond organ swirl, a loose baggy shuffle, the sound of a dance floor and a guitar band deciding they were the same thing - that groove came out of Manchester at the end of the 80s, and almost no one carried it further or with more grace than The Charlatans. What makes them matter is not just the tunes; it is that they kept going through losses that would have ended anyone else, and their frontman Tim Burgess became a kind of patron saint of communal joy, the guy who taught the whole internet to listen to records together. A Charlatans show is warm in a way few things are: a few hundred people swaying to The Only One I Know like it is still 1990 and everything is still possible. House of Blues San Diego, all ages. Saturday, September 5, 2026, 7pm. Come get lost in the groove with a roomful of people who never stopped believing in it.

San Diego's K-pop community takes over House of Blues for a full night of K-pop music, high-energy remixes, and the kind of shared knowing that only happens when everyone in the room speaks the same language.
KPop Club Night is not a concert — it is a DJ set built entirely from K-pop: current releases, fan-favorites, throwbacks, and the deep cuts that only the devoted know. No artist is performing, but you will hear everyone. The playlist moves through K-pop's breadth — idol pop, hyper-pop edits, slower mid-tempo sets that let the room breathe — while the crowd fills the floor and the screens.
Bring the person who taught you about K-pop. Bring the group that spent the past two years deep in fan forums. Bring anyone who knows what it means when the DJ drops a fan-favorite chorus.
This is not a one-off. KPop Club Night runs nationwide on a regular tour schedule. San Diego has shown up before. September 1 is the next one.
House of Blues San Diego. Doors open at 9 PM. 18 and up. Get there early — the floor fills up before midnight.

House of Blues San Diego, 1055 Fif…
Your wardrobe has been having an argument with itself since high school. This is the night that refuses to settle it and just plays both sides at full volume.
The set oscillates — screaming the bridge of a 2007 pop-punk anthem, then losing yourself in a drop that rattles the subwoofer in your sternum, then back again. FEM&M and ASTRID run it, with MilkyPossum and Charloux along. The crowd is exactly who you are picturing: people who cried to My Chemical Romance in high school and now own LED glasses. Both things are true. Neither one was a phase.
It happens in the Voodoo Room at House of Blues, with the Gaslamp outside having no idea what is going on underneath it.
Anyone who has ever built a playlist that jumps from Dashboard Confessional to Skrillex already knows how this feels. Send it to them.

Hasbro's tongue-in-cheek Apology Tour arrives at House of Blues San Diego during SDCC week — and if you grew up with the 1986 Transformers movie, you already know what they're apologizing for. Forty years after the animated film that traumatized a generation (yes, THAT scene), this is the live concert celebration that turns grief into guitar solos.
Stan Bush performs The Touch — the anthem that has outlived the movie, the toys, and every live-action sequel since. Vince DiCola, who scored the original film, returns with the synth-heavy compositions that defined an era. Britta Phillips, the original singing voice of Jem from Jem and the Holograms, brings an unexpected crossover that 80s kids didn't know they needed. Knights of Unicron and Cold Slither round out a lineup built for people who know that 1986 was the year animation got serious.
This is not a nostalgia act. This is the room where people who cried at a cartoon robot's death — and never fully recovered — gather to hear the music that made it hit so hard. The kind of night where a stranger next to you mouths every word to Dare and you realize you've known each other your whole life.
Doors open at 7 PM. Show starts at 8 PM. General admission is 50 dollars. VIP is 100 dollars and includes early entry, exclusive merch, private viewing area, and a gift bag of curated items. House of Blues San Diego is at 1055 Fifth Ave — walking distance from the Convention Center. Part of Hasbro's year-long 40th anniversary celebration of The Transformers: The Movie.

House of Blues San Diego, 1055 5th Ave. June 27th. The Bad Bunny Afterparty Experience at House of Blues — the night after the concert, the official continuation, in the Gaslamp Quarter venue that was built for exactly this kind of extension of the main event energy.
The afterparty is where the show continues without the stadium infrastructure. The crowd is smaller, the setting is intimate, the music is the Bad Bunny catalog running through a DJ set designed to keep the night going for people who aren't ready for it to end. The House of Blues floor holds this well — the sound is calibrated for the genre, the bar is open, and the energy that built through three hours of arena performance arrives here and runs until it's finished.
sandiego.houseofblues.com for ticket details and the full event schedule. June 27th. The Gaslamp Quarter on a Bad Bunny afterparty night is the fullest version of 5th Avenue — the crowds from the arena moving through the neighborhood, the bars running their own versions of the night, the House of Blues providing the official continuation. Get your ticket early. Afterparties at this level fill before the main show ends.

In a club the size of House of Blues, Lacuna Coil's sound doesn't just fill the room — it occupies it. Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro's dual-vocal dynamic hits completely differently at this scale than it does in an arena; everything is closer, louder, more immediate. April 11, 6:30pm, Gaslamp Quarter. Twenty-five years of gothic metal, performed by one of the genre's most consistent live acts, in a room built for exactly this.
