From $18
Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Du…
The San Diego County Fair opens June 12th at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, and the cheapest ticket starts at $18 — the going rate for the single most SoCal-summer thing you will do this year. Jimmy Durante Boulevard leads you in. The smell of funnel cake and sunscreen meets you before the parking lot ends.
Del Mar in June means a particular kind of heat that doesn't apologize — the kind that makes the lemonade taste better and turns a crowd of strangers into people all in it together. You walk past livestock barns and end up at a stage where someone is playing to three hundred people like it's their last show on earth. You eat something fried that has no business existing and don't regret a single thing. The Midway lights come up as the sun drops behind the grandstands and suddenly you're twelve again, which is the best thing the fair does — it gives everyone permission to stop being jaded for one afternoon. The concerts run every night. The rides don't care how old you are. The strawberry shortcake line moves slowly for a reason. Go on a weeknight for room to breathe. Go on a Saturday to feel the full weight of Southern California in summer. That's worth feeling at least once.

6067 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, C…
Every Friday evening from spring through fall, the BP Grand Entrance at LACMA becomes a concert hall with no roof. The musicians aren't there because the pay is exceptional — they're there because the Los Angeles County Museum of Art has been building this program since the 1960s, and the stage means something.
Jazz at LACMA draws players who tour internationally and fill the Wiltern for five hundred dollars a ticket. On Friday evenings, they're playing for whoever walked in off Wilshire Boulevard.
The doors open at 5. Music starts at 6. The crowd fills in by 6:30. You can sit on the steps, walk the grounds, or stand near the back and let it happen to you. The galleries are open behind you. The Chris Burden urban light installation gives the whole plaza a particular quality at dusk that's hard to plan around but impossible to miss when it happens.
6067 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90036. Free. No ticket, no reservation. The concert is outdoors — check weather and bring a layer for after dark. Fridays through October.
Spotlight 29 Casino in Coachella is the kind of venue where the crowd can see the sweat and the setlist changes feel personal. Pancho Barraza performs at Spotlight 29 Casino in Coachella on June 12, 2026. 18+. The setlist is fixed, the room is real, the sound doesn't survive the door — this is the version that lives only in the people who show up.
Fred Kavli Theatre, 2100 E Thousand Oaks Blvd, Thousand Oaks. June 12th. RAD Dance Studio's Concert of Love 2026: Legacy — the annual showcase that brings the Thousand Oaks dance community onto one of the most beautiful stages in the Conejo Valley for a night that turns a year of training into a performance.
The Concert of Love is the event that reminds you what a performing arts center was built for. The Fred Kavli's acoustics, the sightlines, the capacity to hold a program that runs from the youngest students to the senior company — everything about this venue was designed to make a dance showcase feel like what it is: the fullest possible expression of a year of commitment to the form.
Tickets at ticketmaster.com. June 12th. If someone you love is on that stage, this is the night to see what the training looks like when the lights come up. If you're coming as someone who loves dance — the Concert of Love earns its audience every year. Be in the room when Legacy arrives.

4255 Ruffin Rd Ste 200, San Diego,…
They believed San Diego needed a swing dance that showed up every Thursday regardless of what else was happening — not seasonal, not monthly, not dependent on a promoter deciding it was worth running. Just a weekly that committed to being there.
The Firehouse Swing Dance has made that argument every Thursday since 1998 — the largest weekly swing dance in San Diego. Classes run from 7 to 8 PM (beginner Lindy Hop, included with entry), social dancing from 8 PM to 11 PM. Live bands when the calendar allows. The venue is Champion Ballroom at Ruffin Road — a dedicated dance space, not a bar that pushes the tables aside.
The crowd on any Thursday ranges from people in their first lesson to dancers who have been coming since the 1990s. What makes a weekly survive 25+ years is that the floor keeps improving — first-timers are learning from people who are very good, and the people who are very good are there because the floor is reliable.
No partner required. No experience required. Dress code: whatever you can move in.
Every Thursday, 7–11 PM. 4255 Ruffin Rd Ste 200, San Diego, CA 92123.

Historic Core, Spring St & Main St…
The Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk happens on the second Thursday of every month from 6 to 10 PM across the Historic Core galleries, studios, and cultural spaces clustered on Spring Street and Main Street between 3rd and 9th. It has been running continuously since 2004 and draws between 5,000 and 10,000 people on a typical night.
The format is self-guided. No wristband, no single entrance, no ticketed main stage. You walk. Galleries extend opening hours and host receptions, live music, and artist talks. Boutiques, bars, and restaurants along the route stay open late. Street art installations appear in parking lots and alleys. Pop-up vendors set up between gallery hops.
The crowd skews young and creative — designers, photographers, muralists, and the people who follow them. It is one of the few monthly events in LA that reliably brings out the local art community rather than the art-adjacent tourist circuit.
Parking is available in DTLA surface lots and garages. The nearest Metro stops are Pershing Square (B/D Lines) and 7th St/Metro Center (A/E/B/D Lines). Most people walk between venues. Wear comfortable shoes. The event is free to attend — individual galleries may have ticketed openings happening the same night.

Live music in a room like Constellation Room has a specific physics: the sound arrives before you've decided how to feel about it, and True North & Out In Front has always known what to do with that. True North & Out In Front performs at Constellation Room in Santa Ana on June 11, 2026. Doors at 7:00 PM, show at 8:00 PM, All Ages. The crowd at a show like this has been waiting for exactly this room — the specific night where the distance between stage and floor is close enough to matter.
Earl Sweatshirt & MIKE Home on the Range Tour at Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood on June 10, 2026: the bars that hit different in a small room, where the ad-libs carry and the energy is something the recording was always a rough draft of. Earl Sweatshirt & MIKE Home on the Range Tour performs at Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood on June 10, 2026. Doors at 7PM, show at 8PM, All Ages. The Regent Theater, 448 S Main St, Los Angeles. June 9th. Flawed Mangoes — the Killswitch Memories Tour, at the Regent, which is exactly the right size for a band that rewards a room that can see the whites of their eyes.
The Regent holds around 400 people on a good night, and for bands at this level of the indie circuit, that capacity is the sweet spot: close enough to feel the room, large enough to generate the crowd pressure that makes a live show feel different from a playlist. The Killswitch Memories tour is a named tour, which means there's a concept and a setlist organized around it — not just a greatest hits run but a designed live experience.
Tickets at ticketmaster.com. June 9th in Downtown LA. The Regent is a convertible venue that handles standing shows the right way — good sightlines, real sound, a room that doesn't require being in the front to be in the show. If you've been following Flawed Mangoes and have been waiting for them to come through LA on a real tour, this is the date. Get your ticket before the floor goes.

Drake Stadium, UCLA, Los Angeles, …
The Angel City Games at UCLA's Drake Stadium is one of North America's premier adaptive sports competitions, bringing together para-athletes from across the country to compete in track and field, wheelchair basketball, seated volleyball, discus, shot put, javelin, and more in a professionally staged, spectator-friendly environment. Check angelcitygames.org for athlete registration, spectator information, and schedule of events across the two competition days.
Greek Theatre, 2700 N Vermont Ave, Los Angeles. June 7th. José María Napoleón — the Mexican balladeer whose voice defined Mexican romantic music for three decades — at the Greek Theatre for a farewell tour: Hasta Siempre, the final chapter.
Napoleón's catalog is the soundtrack of a generation of Mexican and Mexican-American living rooms. "Ella," "Prometiste," "Por Eso" — songs that played at quinceañeras and weddings and late-night kitchens where the radio stayed on because the music was the company. A farewell tour from an artist at this level of Latin music is not a routine concert date. It is the last time.
Tickets at ticketmaster.com. June 7th. The Greek Theatre is the outdoor amphitheater that holds sound the way the songs were built to be heard — in the open air, with the hillside behind you and the sky above. The Latin music community in Los Angeles will fill the bowl. Come knowing the catalog. Come ready to hold onto it one more time.
Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N Highland Ave, Hollywood. June 7th. Paul Simon at the Hollywood Bowl — one of the most celebrated careers in American music, performing in the amphitheater that is, by almost universal agreement, the most perfect setting for exactly this kind of night.
Paul Simon's catalog is fifty years of some of the most precisely observed songwriting in American music. "The Sound of Silence," "Bridge Over Troubled Water," "Graceland," "Slip Slidin' Away" — the songs that have been carrying people through their lives for generations, performed by their author in the outdoor amphitheater where the hillside and the stars and the summer air turn a concert into something you describe to people who weren't there for the rest of your life.
Tickets at ticketmaster.com. June 7th. The Hollywood Bowl is the venue that makes a Paul Simon concert the event it should always have been. The reserved sections are where you hear every word. The lawn is where you see the whole frame. Get your ticket either way. June at the Bowl with Paul Simon is not the show you describe missing.
House of Blues Anaheim, 400 W Disney Way. June 7th. The HU and Apocalyptica on the same bill — the Mongolian rock band that builds its sound from traditional instruments and throat singing alongside the Finnish cello metal quartet that has spent three decades proving classical instruments belong in the heaviest music imaginable.
This is the kind of pairing that makes a concert feel like a discovery. The HU's morin khuur and throat singing arrive in the same sonic territory as Apocalyptica's cello arrangements — both bands are doing something ancient at high volume with complete conviction. The House of Blues Anaheim handles this scale of production correctly: the sound system calibrated for the frequency range, the floor built for the crowd this bill draws.
Tickets at ticketmaster.com. June 7th. The HU and Apocalyptica together in Anaheim is the show that the metal and world music communities overlap on — and both communities will be in the building. Get your ticket before the floor goes. A bill this specific doesn't come through often.
The San Diego Kollective Foundation brings its community night market back in June 2026. Free entry, open to all ages, running from 3 PM to 8 PM with a full lineup of food vendors, a live DJ, and programming that reflects the cultural fabric of San Diego south bay communities. The SD Kollective Night Market is built around a simple idea: give local vendors, artists, and musicians a platform without charging anyone at the door. The organizers work with independent operators -- small food businesses, artists, community organizations -- who would otherwise be shut out of higher-barrier market events. The result is a market that feels less like a curated shopping experience and more like a neighborhood gathering that happens to have great food. What to expect: street food from local operators spanning a range of cuisines, artisan and craft vendors, community organizations tabling, and a DJ set that runs through the afternoon into early evening. The atmosphere is laid-back and family-friendly. Many attendees bring lawn chairs. This is a free community event run by a San Diego non-profit. No tickets needed.
Chopped and Dropped — Cal Heights Car Show and Neighborhood Block Party
Long Beach Cal Heights neighborhood shuts down Wardlow Road for one of the largest community car shows in the city — custom builds, classics, and kar kulture filling the block from late morning through the evening.
This is not just a car show. Chopped and Dropped is a full neighborhood event: live music, a bar crawl through the Cal Heights business district, boutique vendors, and food along the route.
What to Expect:
Classic customs, lowriders, hot rods, and modern builds all mix on the same block. Owners stay with their cars and talk. The bar crawl makes it an all-day event even if you have seen every car twice.
