Anime Expo 2027 — Los Angeles Convention Center
Jul 1 – Jul 4, 2027 Los Angeles Convention Center, 120…

You will be tired in a way that feels earned. Four days, a hundred thousand people, and not one of them needs you to explain what you are talking about. The largest anime convention in North America takes the Los Angeles Convention Center over Fourth of July weekend and spills into the JW Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton beside it. Industry panels, screening rooms, autograph sessions with voice actors and composers, concerts that sell out weeks ahead. Studios from Japan use this as their main North American announcement stage — if a sequel or adaptation is being revealed, it often happens in a room you could be standing in. The exhibit hall carries imported merchandise and collaboration exclusives that surface nowhere else on the continent. Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 S Figueroa St. Thursday through Sunday. Badges run from top-tier early-access down to single-day passes. Book the connected hotel corridor months out. Everyone who tells you that learned it the hard way.

Anime Expo 2027 — Day 2 (Friday)
Jul 2, 2027 Los Angeles Convention Center, 120…

The announcement you will see trending worldwide by dinner happens in a room you could be standing in at lunch. That is the entire case for showing up on the first full public day instead of easing in over the weekend. This is when the building finally hits capacity and the studio panels start dropping licensing reveals and surprise first episodes. Anisong sets bring Japanese recording artists who almost never play the States. Voice actors and creators sign all afternoon. The floor and Artist Alley run flat out from open to close — hundreds of independent artists selling prints, charms, and original work — and the sweet spot for actually shopping it is early afternoon, before the prime-time panels pull the crowd away. The Metro drops you a short walk from the doors. A main badge covers daytime programming, panels, the floor, and the alley; the big concerts ticket separately. Send it to the friend with a simulcast tab open right now. They will not need convincing.

Sukeban World Championship Fight Night — Anime Expo 2026
Jul 3, 2026 51.6 Los Angeles Convention Center, 120…

This is not a wrestling show with an anime theme. It is a convergence: Harajuku fashion aesthetics, anime character energy, live music, and genuine athletic competition fused into one arena experience. Sukeban is Japan's premier female pro wrestling league — and its first-ever World Championship Fight arrives at Anime Expo 2026 on July 3rd at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The league brings rival girl gangs from Tokyo — the Harajuku Stars, Cherry Bomb Girls, and Vandals stables — fighting for a championship belt on the biggest stage in the league's history. Special appearances confirmed. Every match is a story arc. Every outfit is a character declaration. The room this fills: anime fans who also watch wrestling. Sneakerheads who follow Harajuku drops. AEW and WWE fans who've been waiting for something that hits different — aesthetically, athletically, culturally. Sukeban occupies an intersection no other event touches: J-fashion, pro wrestling, anime convention, live performance. Ticketed separately from AX general admission to keep the room committed. Entry requirements: valid Anime Expo credential (4-day or any 1-day pass) plus a separate Sukeban event ticket. GA Floor (standing): $51.60. Balcony A (seated): $101.60. VIP Ringside: $151.60. Tickets at leapevents.com — limited capacity.

Anime Expo 2026 — Los Angeles, CA
Jul 2 – Jul 5, 2026 From $87 (1-day) / $175 (4-day) Los Angeles Convention Center, 120…

Every July 4th weekend, the Los Angeles Convention Center stops being a convention center and becomes the largest gathering of anime fans in North America. The four-day span draws 100,000 attendees and turns downtown LA into the axis of the anime world for the summer. The scale hits you immediately. The Exhibit Hall spans over 340,000 square feet of merchandise, artist booths, publisher displays, and licensed collectibles. Artist Alley is a separate destination — hundreds of independent creators selling original art, prints, and handmade goods, the kind of work you will not find on any streaming platform or official retail channel. The Industry Panels are where announcements happen: English dub cast reveals, new season confirmations, licensing news that fans will screenshot and share for weeks. Voice actor autograph sessions routinely have lines forming before sunrise. Is Anime Expo worth it? If you are even moderately embedded in anime culture — yes, emphatically. The density of what you can see and do in four days at the LACC is unmatched. There is no equivalent event in North America for scope, for industry access, for the sheer number of people who look exactly as excited about the same things you are. The cosplay alone — tens of thousands of costumes across every franchise — is worth the badge price for someone who has never seen it at this scale. Before you go: buy your badge early; prices increase and popular event tickets (Masquerade, concerts) require separate purchase and sell out fast. The convention floor opens at 9am but autograph lottery lines form before 7. Wear comfortable shoes — you will walk six miles without trying. The 4th of July weekend means Downtown LA is also hosting holiday events; plan transit accordingly. Metro is faster than driving. Bring cash for Artist Alley. Anime Expo earns its Nation's Best position because it is the single largest public expression of a cultural moment that has been building for thirty years and shows no sign of slowing. The mainstream discovered anime. AX is where the culture that built it celebrates on its own terms. Los Angeles Convention Center. July 2–5, 2026. The concert programming — separate ticketed events within AX — brings J-pop and ani-song artists to Los Angeles who rarely perform in North America outside of this weekend. If you follow any Japanese artist, check the concert schedule before finalizing your badge type. These shows sell out independently of the main badge and often represent the single best live music opportunity of any anime fan's year.

Oceanside Sunset Market -- Summer 2026 Thursdays
Every Thursday · Next Oct 8 Free Coast Hwy & Pier View Way, Oceansi…

The Pacific is a block away. Every Thursday evening from 5 to 9 PM, the corner of Coast Highway and Pier View Way becomes the Oceanside Sunset Market — vendors, food, live music, and the light that only happens when you're that close to the water at that hour. The beach-town market that runs when the day is actually good. Local makers, artisans, food vendors, and the crowd that comes out because the evening earned it. The vendor mix is Oceanside-specific: local crafts, art, jewelry, produce, and the food vendors that the beach corridor supports. The live music stage runs throughout the evening. The Oceanside Pier is visible from the market — the setting does work the vendors don't have to. Free to attend. Parking available near the Pier. Every Thursday, May through September, 5-9 PM. Oceanside, California. The market runs through marine layer some evenings. The cooler Pacific air is part of the draw, not a reason to stay home.

Pacific Beach Night Market
Monthly · Next Nov 4 Free Bayard St and Garnet Ave, Pacific …

A hundred and fifty steps from the ocean, a corner of Pacific Beach turns into a block party that nobody had to organize you into. Fire pits going. Nine to twelve food vendors rotating week to week, so the thing you loved last time might be gone and the thing replacing it might be better. Live music that is genuinely local — acoustic sets, small bands, the occasional DJ. Games. A crowd of PB locals and students and people who simply wandered up from the beach still holding a towel. Past vendors have run birria tacos, banh mi, craft lemonade, Hawaiian shave ice, artisan pastries, small-batch hot sauces. A few craft sellers usually set up alongside. This is a neighborhood gathering, not a ticketed event. Free. No RSVP. You walk up. Bayard St and Garnet Ave, Pacific Beach. 5 to 9:30 PM. Bring a layer — it cools off fast after sunset, even in August.

Taste of Soul LA 2026
In 9 days · Oct 17 Free Crenshaw Blvd (Martin Luther King …

The smell reaches you before the stages do - barbecue and catfish and soul food covering a mile-plus of Crenshaw Boulevard, because every major Black-owned restaurant in South LA has a booth out here and the food is the center of the whole thing. For one Saturday in October, this stretch between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Leimert Park Village becomes one of the largest street festivals in Los Angeles. More than 300,000 people move through in a single day. The format is street vendors, restaurant booths, live music stages, a car show, health screenings, and community organization presence - but it is the food and the crowd that make it. Founded by the Los Angeles Sentinel, the oldest Black-owned newspaper in California, it has run for over two decades and stayed a genuine community institution: multigenerational, neighborhood-rooted, and enormous. This is Leimert Park and Crenshaw at their fullest. Free to attend. Crenshaw closes to traffic for the day. The Metro K Line stops at Leimert Park Village and is the easiest way in and out. Arrive early if you want to move - by noon the crowds are deep.

The Haunted Parlour Room at the Reindeer Room
In 14 days · Oct 22 $55 Skypark, Pond Road, Lake Arrowhead…

A good ghost story needs a room that was already keeping secrets. Up in the San Bernardino Mountains, hidden inside SkyPark, there is a small speakeasy that spends most of the year doing cocktails and live music by reservation only, and for one night it hands the room over to a storytelling duo working prohibition-era legends. Guests are encouraged to turn up in their haunted best, 1920s speakeasy. The cocktails are built around the story rather than served beside it, with charcuterie and tastings between the acts, and the room is small enough that the storytellers will be close enough to make you flinch. Historic mountain-lodge bones, cocktail-lounge glamour, no stage to hide behind. Seating starts at 6:00 PM on October 22. Tickets are $55 per person, 21 and over, reservations required, and space is genuinely limited. The Reindeer Room keeps going on Friday and Saturday evenings all year with cocktail classes and themed nights, so the mountain holds more of this than one October evening.

Firehouse Swing Dance — Weekly Thursdays, San Diego
Every Thursday · Next Oct 8 Free 4255 Ruffin Rd Ste 200, San Diego,…

Most scenes depend on somebody deciding it is worth running this month. This one just shows up, every Thursday, and has since 1998. That reliability is the whole engineering trick. Because the floor is dependable, the good dancers keep coming; because the good dancers are there, the first-timers learn from people who are genuinely excellent; because first-timers keep arriving, the floor never calcifies into a closed club. Twenty-five years of that loop has made it the largest weekly swing dance in San Diego. Classes run 7 to 8 PM — beginner Lindy Hop, included with entry. Social dancing 8 to 11. Live bands when the calendar allows. The venue is a dedicated dance space, not a bar that shoves its tables aside at nine. On any given Thursday the room holds people in their first lesson and people who have been coming since the 1990s, and they dance with each other. 4255 Ruffin Rd Ste 200, San Diego. No partner required. No experience required. Dress code: whatever you can move in.
