Disney ’80s–90s Celebration in Concert — The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park
Aug 7, 2026 $39-129 The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 222…

The opening notes of Under the Sea land and thirty years collapse. You are on a living room carpet, the television is the entire world, and Sebastian is completely correct that everything is better down where it is wetter. A full symphony orchestra plays it straight, which is the part that gets people — no wink, no irony, Broadway vocalists singing this material like it deserves the treatment, because it does. Hercules, A Goofy Movie, Toy Story, Newsies, Aladdin, The Lion King, Tarzan, Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas, The Disney Afternoon. Rock-concert lighting and animation thrown up above the harbor while the orchestra works underneath it all. This is not a children's show. It is the soundtrack of one specific emotional era, played outdoors on the water for the adults who never stopped humming it. Bring whoever watched those movies on the carpet beside you. Do not pretend you are going to hold it together.

Rady Shell at Jacobs Park — 2026 Summer Season
Jun 5 – Sep 30, 2026 Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 222 Mar…

You get there early on purpose. The bay is in front of you, the skyline is over your left shoulder, the sun is going down over the Pacific, and by the time the orchestra plays its first note the setting has already done most of the work. That is the trick of the place — it was purpose-built so the view and the music arrive together. The San Diego Symphony plays here across the whole summer: classical programs, film scores, pops nights, and collaborations with artists the symphony circuit does not usually bring to this city. Regulars will tell you the lawn is the social choice and the reserved seats are the full view, and that you should bring something to sit on either way. The waterfront breeze shows up in the evening no matter how hot the afternoon was. Programs and tickets vary through the season at theshell.org, out on Marina Park Way. Send it to the friend who says they don't like classical music. They have never heard it outdoors with the water right there.

for KING & COUNTRY: The Most Beautiful Colours Tour — The Rady Shell, San Diego
In 3 days · Oct 11 The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 222…

The Grammy-winning duo plays the kind of show where the entire audience knows every word — not because the songs are simple, but because they mean something to people who needed them. for KING & COUNTRY at The Rady Shell is a pairing that makes more sense than it should: a band built on sincerity, playing an open-air venue on the San Diego waterfront in October when the evening air is still warm enough to sit outside but cool enough to notice you're alive. The Most Beautiful Colours Tour is built around the album of the same name, and the production is arena-scale scaled down to an intimate harbor setting. This is the concert that the person in your life who doesn't go to concerts will actually come to — and will text you about for three days after. The songs carry across the water and the crowd carries them back. Sunday, October 11, 2026. 7:00 PM. The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, San Diego.

Sleepless in Seattle in Concert — San Diego Symphony at The Rady Shell
Dec 11, 2026 The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 124…

Near the end of the movie, Sam stands on the observation deck of the Empire State Building and the camera holds on his face for three full seconds before Meg Ryan appears. In those three seconds, the orchestra carries everything the character cannot say. You've heard it through speakers a dozen times. You've never heard it performed by a live symphony while the film plays on a screen overlooking the San Diego bay. The San Diego Symphony performs the complete score of Sleepless in Seattle at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park — Marc Shaiman's arrangements, the Nat King Cole needle-drops, the Jimmy Durante moment that lands harder than it has any right to. The orchestra sits between you and the screen, and the score exists in the room as a physical thing, vibrating in the air, rather than a signal compressed into a speaker. Every romantic movie you've ever watched alone on a couch prepared you for exactly this feeling, and none of them prepared you for how different it is when you can see the violinist's face. One performance only: Friday, December 11, 2026 at 7:30 PM. The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 1245 Seventh Ave, San Diego. Tickets via the San Diego Symphony box office.

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York — Live in Concert with the San Diego Symphony
Dec 12, 2026 The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 124…

You already know the ending. You've seen Kevin outrun the Sticky Bandits a hundred times. You've memorized the face he makes at the concierge, the Plaza Hotel lobby, the way the pigeon lady turns out to be the bravest person in the whole movie. None of that matters, because you've never heard John Williams' score performed live twenty feet from your chair while the film plays on a screen the size of a building. The San Diego Symphony performs the complete Home Alone 2 score at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park — outdoors, under the December sky, with the bay behind you and Williams' orchestral arrangements filling the kind of open air they were always meant to fill. The brass hits different when there's no ceiling. The strings hit different when you can see the cellist's bow. The moment Kevin walks through a snowy Central Park and the full orchestra swells beneath it — that's the moment you understand why people keep coming back to this format. You already knew the movie. You didn't know the music. This is a holiday tradition built for the person who watches Christmas movies year-round and the person dragged along by them. Both leave converted. One night only: Saturday, December 12, 2026 at 6:00 PM. The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 1245 Seventh Ave, San Diego.

Noel Noel — San Diego Symphony Holiday Concert at The Rady Shell
Every day · Next Dec 18 The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 124…

When a brass section plays a carol outdoors in December, the music doesn't bounce off walls and come back to you compressed. It goes out into the night air and keeps going, mixing with the salt and the cold and the ambient hum of a city settling into the holidays. That's what Noel Noel is — the San Diego Symphony's annual holiday concert, performed at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park where the bay sits behind the stage and the December sky sits above it. The program is a mix of orchestral holiday arrangements, singalong carols, and the kind of show-stopping vocal moments that remind you why live music exists. This isn't background music at a mall. This is a full symphony orchestra playing holiday repertoire with the same intensity they bring to Beethoven, because the music deserves it and so do you. The crowd is families, couples, groups who made this the anchor of their December calendar years ago and aren't stopping now. Three performances: Friday, December 18 at 7:30 PM, Saturday, December 19 at 6:00 PM, and Sunday, December 20 at 4:30 PM. The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 1245 Seventh Ave, San Diego. The Sixties Show — A Tribute to the Music That Changed Everything at The Rady Shell
Sep 18, 2026 The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 222…

Every member of The Sixties Show was hand-picked to perform and record with the artists they're celebrating — The Who, Paul McCartney, The Beach Boys, The Bee Gees, Steely Dan, Bruce Springsteen. This isn't karaoke in wigs. This is the session musicians who were in the room when those records were made, playing the songs the way they were meant to sound, on a waterfront stage with the San Diego skyline behind them. The Rady Shell in September is the kind of venue that turns a good concert into a memory. The harbor catches the last of the light. The breeze comes in around the second set. By the time they get to the Beatles medley the crowd has stopped pretending they're too cool to sing along. Friday, September 18, 2026. 7:30 PM. The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, San Diego.

"Weird Al" Yankovic: Bigger & Weirder 2026 Tour
Sep 16, 2026 The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 222…

For a very specific kind of kid — the one who taped songs off the radio, read every liner note, and found the whole pop machine slightly absurd while loving it completely — he was the first artist who felt like he was in on the joke with you. Four decades later he is the best-selling comedy recording artist in history and a five-time Grammy winner, and somehow the show is still the most joyful, most absurdly over-produced thing you can buy a ticket to. The full version travels: costume changes, the accordion, parodies running from Michael Jackson to Taylor Swift, and fan favorites that have never once been played live. Outdoors on the bay at the Rady Shell, at the end of summer, with the water doing half the work. Bring the kid you were and the kids you have now. The ones who can still recite 'Amish Paradise' word for word cleared their calendar the day it was announced.

Classic Albums Live: The Beatles — The White Album — Rady Shell San Diego
Aug 29 – Aug 30, 2026 varies The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 222…

No costumes. No wigs. No pretending to be someone else. Classic Albums Live takes the most ambitious double album ever recorded and plays it note for note, cut for cut, with a full live band on the San Diego waterfront — and the whole point is that the musicians are themselves, not impersonators. The White Album is the Beatles at their most fractured and most brilliant simultaneously. From the noise-collage chaos of “Revolution 9” to the heartbreak of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” to the deceptive simplicity of “Blackbird,” this is 30 songs that span every genre the sixties touched. Hearing it performed live, outdoors, with the harbor behind the stage, strips away fifty years of familiarity and makes you hear it again for what might be the first time since you first heard it. Saturday, August 30 at 7:30 PM. The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, downtown San Diego waterfront. Bring someone who knows every word.

Tchaikovsky Spectacular with Fireworks — Rady Shell San Diego
Aug 30, 2026 The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 200…

The 1812 Overture was written to commemorate a war, and the only thing it has ever truly conquered is the distance between a person and the version of themselves that says yes to things. Cannons. Brass. The moment the whole orchestra stands and the sky detonates behind them. There is no intellectual distance on offer. You surrender or you leave. The symphony closes out its summer on the bay with a full program: the exuberant Capriccio italien, the piano concerto with a Grammy-nominated soloist, the dark churn of Francesca da Rimini, and then the one that ends in real pyrotechnics timed to the score. Not metaphorical fireworks. The bay lights up while the last chord is still ringing. Lawn if you want to spread out, tables if you want the full evening. The sky does not discriminate. You walk in as the person who had a long week and walk out remembering that beauty operates on a scale your commute will never show you.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl in Concert — Rady Shell San Diego
Aug 28, 2026 The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 200…

Between the third glass of wine and the moment the brass takes the main theme, you will forget you are an adult with a mortgage. The symphony plays the Badelt and Zimmer score live under conductor Larry Loh, every cue locked to the film running on the screen above them — eighty musicians matching each sword clash, each swell of fog, each time Barbossa steps into moonlight. This is not a screening with music piped in behind it. It is an orchestra treating an adventure film like the concert-hall work it quietly always was. The waterfront does the rest: the ocean sits directly behind the stage, so the sea becomes part of the set design, and no studio could have afforded to build it. Lawn if you want to sprawl, a table if you want the full evening. When that horn line rises over the harbor, the distance between a night out and a grand adventure disappears completely.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in Concert — Rady Shell San Diego
Aug 21, 2026 Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 222 Mar…

The first four notes of Hedwig's Theme have never failed to do the thing they do - and hearing them played by a full orchestra, in real time, while the film runs on a screen above the water, is a different order of the feeling entirely. This is not a concert with some Harry Potter branding stapled on; the San Diego Symphony performs John Williams' complete score for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone live, synchronized to the movie, every scene he scored - the quidditch match, the troll in the dungeon, the final confrontation. It plays three nights at the Rady Shell, the waterfront amphitheatre on the Embarcadero, with the San Diego skyline behind the stage. The fandom in this city has been waiting a long time, and three nights is still not enough seats for everyone who wants to go. August 21, 22, and 23, 2026, 7pm. Tickets at theshell.org. Book early.

Interpol — North America Tour 2026 at The Rady Shell San Diego
Aug 15, 2026 The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 200…

There's a sound that belongs to the moment when the streetlights come on and you're walking somewhere you shouldn't be going but can't stop yourself. Interpol has been making that sound for twenty-five years, and it hasn't lost a single watt of its pull. Interpol plays The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park in San Diego on Friday, August 15 at 7 PM, with julie opening. The Rady Shell is one of the most beautiful outdoor concert venues in Southern California — an open-air bandshell on the downtown waterfront with the harbor behind the stage and the skyline framing the whole production. Seeing a band this atmospheric in a venue this cinematic is the kind of alignment that only happens a few times a year. The Rady Shell's open seating and lawn sections mean the experience scales from front-row intensity to blanket-on-the-grass chill depending on where you plant yourself. The venue is at 200 Marina Park Way, walking distance from the Convention Center trolley stop and the Gaslamp Quarter. The kind of night where the venue and the artist are saying the same thing. Bring someone who understands why that matters.

Jeff Goldblum & The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra
Aug 23, 2026 The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 222…

Half the room came for the man from the movies and leaves having fallen for the piano player. Something delights in watching a face you associate with dinosaurs and eccentric monologues sit down at a jazz piano and turn out to genuinely, unfussily swing. Jeff Goldblum has been playing standards on quiet Monday nights for decades, and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra is a real band, loose and warm and funnier than it has any right to be. He'll tell a rambling story, take a request, tease the crowd, then drop into a ballad that shuts the whole lawn up. It's the rare night where the jazz obsessive who owns the vinyl and the person who just wanted to see a celebrity end up elbow to elbow, both grinning like idiots. He always ends up chatting with the front row between numbers. Bring someone who swears they don't like jazz and watch them quietly cave over the course of one warm, slightly ridiculous evening on the downtown bayfront.

Tedeschi Trucks Band: Future Soul 2026 Tour — The Rady Shell San Diego
Aug 16, 2026 The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 222…

Derek Trucks was thirteen when the Allman Brothers let him sit in. Thirteen. He was already pulling sounds out of a Gibson SG that made grown men look at each other like they had witnessed something they could not explain. He still does it, now beside Susan Tedeschi, whose voice goes from a whisper to a howl inside a single breath, at the front of a twelve-piece band that moves through soul, gospel, rock, and jazz without announcing the transitions. This is not really a concert. It is closer to a revival meeting for people who believe in the blues. The Rady Shell hands them the whole waterfront sky to fill on a warm August night on the bay. Lukas Nelson opens with a road-earned voice of his own. Every show they play is different, which is why people follow them around the country. Come get haunted by a slide guitar tone for the next three weeks.

San Diego Symphony — Summer Pops at The Rady Shell 2026
Jun 5 – Sep 19, 2026 The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 222…

The San Diego Symphony's Summer Pops season at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park brings world-class orchestral music to the San Diego waterfront for a series of outdoor concerts running June through September 2026. The Rady Shell — an acoustically engineered open-air performance venue on the waterfront at Jacobs Park — provides a stunning setting for the Symphony's summer season with San Diego Bay visible beyond the audience. The Summer Pops programming spans the full range from classical masterworks to pops concerts featuring Broadway music, film scores, jazz, and popular artists performing with orchestral accompaniment. The variety makes the summer season accessible to audiences who aren't regular classical concertgoers while delivering the full orchestral experience that the Symphony's musician quality supports. The Rady Shell's outdoor format is distinctly family-friendly — picnic blankets, lawn chairs, and the relaxed atmosphere of the waterfront park contrast with the formality of indoor concert halls. The adjacent Jacobs Park lawn allows families to spread out while the children remain within range of the music. Food and wine are available from vendors on-site. The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park is located at 222 Park Blvd in downtown San Diego, walkable from the Embarcadero and accessible via MTS Trolley (Convention Center station). Parking in the downtown convention center structures. Individual concert tickets and season subscriptions available through the San Diego Symphony website.

MUNA: Gets So Hot Tour — The Rady Shell, San Diego
In 8 days · Oct 16 222 Marina Park Way, San Diego, CA…

MUNA made indie pop that crossed over by being too good to stay in any single lane. The Gets So Hot Tour brings the trio to the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park in San Diego, where the waterfront stage and the open sky give the synths and the three-part harmonies room to expand in a way that a small club cannot. The band that started in a USC dorm room now plays rooms where the sunset is part of the set design, and the songs that once felt like secrets shared between friends now feel like anthems shared between thousands who all found the band the same way — through a friend who said you have to hear this. The setlist pulls from all three records, and the crowd knows every lyric, including the deep cuts that were never singles because MUNA fans do not need the algorithm to tell them what to listen to. Thursday, October 16. 7:30 PM. The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 222 Marina Park Way, San Diego.

The Pacific is a block away. Every Thursday evening from 5 to 9 PM, the corner of Coast Highway and Pier View Way becomes the Oceanside Sunset Market — vendors, food, live music, and the light that only happens when you're that close to the water at that hour. The beach-town market that runs when the day is actually good. Local makers, artisans, food vendors, and the crowd that comes out because the evening earned it. The vendor mix is Oceanside-specific: local crafts, art, jewelry, produce, and the food vendors that the beach corridor supports. The live music stage runs throughout the evening. The Oceanside Pier is visible from the market — the setting does work the vendors don't have to. Free to attend. Parking available near the Pier. Every Thursday, May through September, 5-9 PM. Oceanside, California. The market runs through marine layer some evenings. The cooler Pacific air is part of the draw, not a reason to stay home.

A hundred and fifty steps from the ocean, a corner of Pacific Beach turns into a block party that nobody had to organize you into. Fire pits going. Live music that is genuinely local — acoustic sets, small bands, the occasional DJ. Games. A crowd of PB locals and students and people who simply wandered up from the beach still holding a towel. Past vendors have run birria tacos, banh mi, craft lemonade, Hawaiian shave ice, artisan pastries, small-batch hot sauces. A few craft sellers usually set up alongside. This is a neighborhood gathering, not a ticketed event. Free. No RSVP. You walk up. Bayard St and Garnet Ave, Pacific Beach. 5 to 9:30 PM. The smell reaches you before the stages do - barbecue and catfish and soul food covering a mile-plus of Crenshaw Boulevard, because every major Black-owned restaurant in South LA has a booth out here and the food is the center of the whole thing. For one Saturday in October, this stretch between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Leimert Park Village becomes one of the largest street festivals in Los Angeles. More than 300,000 people move through in a single day. The format is street vendors, restaurant booths, live music stages, a car show, health screenings, and community organization presence - but it is the food and the crowd that make it. Founded by the Los Angeles Sentinel, the oldest Black-owned newspaper in California, it has run for over two decades and stayed a genuine community institution: multigenerational, neighborhood-rooted, and enormous. This is Leimert Park and Crenshaw at their fullest. Free to attend. Crenshaw closes to traffic for the day. The Metro K Line stops at Leimert Park Village and is the easiest way in and out.
