Hollywood Pantages Theatre, 6233 H…
Buddy the Elf, in all his maple-syrup-on-spaghetti, smiling-is-my-favorite glory, gets the full Broadway treatment, and for a certain kind of family the Will Ferrell movie has become as load-bearing a Christmas tradition as the tree itself. Elf - The Musical brings that manic, sweet, deeply quotable holiday joy to the stage of the Hollywood Pantages, with big song-and-dance numbers and a heart as gooey as a candy-cane forest. It is pure, uncynical December fun, scaled for kids but written so the parents laugh too. Elf - The Musical plays the Pantages on Saturday, December 12, 2026, in Hollywood off the Metro B Line. Wear the ugly sweater, make it the kickoff to your holiday season, and come remember that the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

We keep telling stories about running away with the circus because some part of us never entirely stopped wanting to. This one takes that ache and puts real acrobats in the air above it.
A young man loses everything, jumps a moving train in the dark, and lands inside a Depression-era traveling show full of danger and wonder and one impossible love. The touring production folds genuine aerialists and hand-balancers into the storytelling, so the spectacle is not a metaphor for anything — it is physically happening over the actors' heads while they sing. Seven Tony nominations, adapted from the novel everybody's mother read the same year.
Under the gilded ceiling on Hollywood Boulevard, one night in September, and fine for kids around eight and up.
The people who still look twice at a passing train will feel every minute of it. Take the one you know does that.
While you are lookingDifferent scene, same night out.

6233 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, CA…
The parents already know: the cartoon dog show that plays on loop in your living room is somehow making you cry over a game of keep-away, and now there is a version your kid can watch happen in front of them, in a room, with the lights down. Bluey's Big Play brings the animated series to the stage for the first time ever, using puppetry and live performance to extend the world of Bluey, Bingo, Bandit, and Chilli beyond the screen. It is built specifically for children ages 2 through 7, but anyone who watches the series regularly knows it rewards the grown-ups just as richly - and this production includes new material written just for the stage. Running time is about 55 minutes with no intermission, which is exactly right for the age group. Arrive early; the lobby experience is part of the fun. The Hollywood Pantages is a 1920s movie palace seating 2,700 on Hollywood Boulevard near Highland Avenue, accessible by Metro B Line (Red) at Hollywood and Highland Station. Parking is available in the adjacent Hollywood and Highland structure.
The Pantages books family matinees all season, and the other parents in the lobby will tell you which ones hold up.

Radio City Music Hall, 1260 6th Av…
Thirty-six women breathe as one body and something in you stands at attention too. The kick line begins and the arithmetic of it — 36 legs, one sound, one beat, zero margin — bypasses your brain entirely and goes straight to the part of you that believes in things.
The Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes returns to Radio City Music Hall for the largest production in the show’s 93-year history: 230 scheduled performances from November 4 through January 4, ten show-stopping Rockettes numbers, and the iconic Parade of the Wooden Soldiers — performed every year since 1933, red-and-white soldiers executing military-precision choreography before their famous falling-dominoes finale. The 2026 season marks a new performance record for the Music Hall, with more shows than any year since the Christmas Spectacular debuted.
If you are the kind of person who tears up at the first note of “O Holy Night” in a room full of strangers, this show was built for you. If you think holiday spectacles are corny and overpriced, this is the one that changes minds — not because it avoids sentimentality, but because it earns every second of it. The Rockettes are not a nostalgia act. They are 36 of the most technically precise dancers working today, performing at a synchronization level that professional sports teams study. First-timers are routinely stunned by the scale: the 90-minute runtime with no intermission feels like 30 minutes, and the stage effects — a full-size double-decker bus, indoor snowfall, a living Nativity with live camels — are architecture, not gimmicks.
Arrive at least an hour early. Late entry is not permitted, and the walk through Rockefeller Center in November is half the experience. First Mezzanine center gives the best full-stage view — the kick line hits differently when you see all 36 at once. Orchestra center rows F through N put you at eye level with the precision footwork. Tickets start at $50 at the box office, $55 online through Ticketmaster or rockettes.com. Weekday matinees are the value play. Dress festive, wear comfortable shoes, eat before you go.
Radio City Music Hall is the largest indoor theater in the world, and the Christmas Spectacular is its reason for existing. Every year, more than a million people walk through those Art Deco doors and sit in the dark with strangers and come out feeling like they belong to the same season. That is not a show. That is a civic ritual, and it runs from November through the first days of the new year because some things do not need to be new to be necessary.

Teragram Ballroom, 1234 W 7th St, …
Picture a nightclub at ten on the Friday after Thanksgiving where the drop is the key change in Defying Gravity and six hundred people scream it at a ceiling. That is the whole product and it is not a joke - it is a real touring club night that sells out rooms across the country because it solved a problem nobody was addressing: theatre kids grew up, still want to go out, and do not want to hear house music. So the DJ plays Hamilton into Mamma Mia into Rent, the floor knows every lyric and every gesture, and strangers perform choreography at each other with total sincerity. Go with one friend who did drama and watch a version of them you have not met. Twenty-one and over, late start, and the crowd arrives already knowing what it is - which is what makes it work. Teragram Ballroom, downtown Los Angeles, the night after the holiday.

Los Angeles Convention Center, 120…
You will be tired in a way that feels earned. Four days, a hundred thousand people, and not one of them needs you to explain what you are talking about.
The largest anime convention in North America takes the Los Angeles Convention Center over Fourth of July weekend and spills into the JW Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton beside it. Industry panels, screening rooms, autograph sessions with voice actors and composers, concerts that sell out weeks ahead. Studios from Japan use this as their main North American announcement stage — if a sequel or adaptation is being revealed, it often happens in a room you could be standing in.
The exhibit hall carries imported merchandise and collaboration exclusives that surface nowhere else on the continent.
Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 S Figueroa St. Thursday through Sunday. Badges run from top-tier early-access down to single-day passes.
Book the connected hotel corridor months out. Everyone who tells you that learned it the hard way.

Bayard St and Garnet Ave, Pacific …
A hundred and fifty steps from the ocean, a corner of Pacific Beach turns into a block party that nobody had to organize you into.
Fire pits going. Nine to twelve food vendors rotating week to week, so the thing you loved last time might be gone and the thing replacing it might be better. Live music that is genuinely local — acoustic sets, small bands, the occasional DJ. Games. A crowd of PB locals and students and people who simply wandered up from the beach still holding a towel.
Past vendors have run birria tacos, banh mi, craft lemonade, Hawaiian shave ice, artisan pastries, small-batch hot sauces. A few craft sellers usually set up alongside.
This is a neighborhood gathering, not a ticketed event. Free. No RSVP. You walk up.

Crenshaw Blvd (Martin Luther King …
The smell reaches you before the stages do - barbecue and catfish and soul food covering a mile-plus of Crenshaw Boulevard, because every major Black-owned restaurant in South LA has a booth out here and the food is the center of the whole thing. For one Saturday in October, this stretch between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Leimert Park Village becomes one of the largest street festivals in Los Angeles.
More than 300,000 people move through in a single day. The format is street vendors, restaurant booths, live music stages, a car show, health screenings, and community organization presence - but it is the food and the crowd that make it. Founded by the Los Angeles Sentinel, the oldest Black-owned newspaper in California, it has run for over two decades and stayed a genuine community institution: multigenerational, neighborhood-rooted, and enormous. This is Leimert Park and Crenshaw at their fullest.
Free to attend. Crenshaw closes to traffic for the day. The Metro K Line stops at Leimert Park Village and is the easiest way in and out. Arrive early if you want to move - by noon the crowds are deep.
