Gem Faire
Every day · Next Dec 4 $7+ OC Fair & Event Center, 88 Fair Dr…

Beneath the fluorescent lights of a fairground expo hall lies a secret world of the beautiful and the bizarre: raw amethyst geodes the size of a toddler, slabs of fossilized dinosaur bone, actual meteorites you can hold, shimmering crystals, and tables of metaphysical vendors ready to tell you which stone fixes your love life. Gem Faire draws a wonderfully mixed crowd, serious rockhounds and geologists elbow to elbow with witchy crystal collectors and jewelry makers, all hunting treasure. Friday through Sunday, December 4 to 6, 2026, at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa. Come to marvel, to shop, or just to hold a piece of outer space in your palm. Bring the friend with the crystal collection and the one who thinks it's all nonsense. It's part science, part sorcery, entirely fascinating.

OC Fair 2026
Jul 17 – Aug 16, 2026 15.0 OC Fair & Event Center, 88 Fair Dr…

July to August in Costa Mesa, and the Fair is always there. The OC Fair has marked the end of Southern California's summer for over a century — the same sprawling grounds, the same negotiation between fair food and agricultural heritage that makes it its own category. OC Fair & Event Center, July 17 through August 16, 2026. Open Wednesday through Sunday. Deep-fried everything, carnival rides, six performance stages, agricultural exhibits, and the night concerts at the Pacific Amphitheatre that fill the back half of summer. The Fair doesn't try to be something else. That's why it works. The food competitions run throughout the season. The livestock shows run the first weeks. The Pacific Amphitheatre concerts run ticketed separately — the summer lineup announces early. OC Fair & Event Center, Costa Mesa. July 17 through August 16, Wednesdays through Sundays. Tickets are cheaper at the gate on weekday openings; weekend evenings at the Pacific Amphitheatre run the most popular concerts.

OC Night Market 2026 — Costa Mesa
Jul 17 – Jul 19, 2026 OC Fair & Event Center, 88 Fair Dr…

The night market format has been a cornerstone of community life across East and Southeast Asia for centuries, and for one weekend the whole thing lands at the OC Fair & Event Center - hundreds of food vendors, merchandise booths, live entertainment, and that specific social energy. The crowd draws from the substantial Asian American population of Orange County - the Vietnamese American community of Little Saigon, the Korean American communities of Fullerton and Buena Park, the Chinese American communities throughout the region - alongside the broader OC population who come for the food and the atmosphere. And the food is the reason to be here: Vietnamese banh mi and pho, Korean corn dogs and tteok, Filipino lechon and sisig, Japanese takoyaki and taiyaki, Chinese scallion pancakes and dumplings, plus the fusion items that only emerge when all of these traditions share one night market. Lines form at the most popular stalls, so scout the layout and arrive with a plan. The OC Fair & Event Center is at 88 Fair Dr in Costa Mesa, off the 405 and 55, with multiple lots on-site; admission is charged at the gate, food and vendor purchases are individual. It runs Friday evening through Sunday and is heaviest on Saturday - Friday evening is the best balance of atmosphere and room to move. OC Night Market 2026, Costa Mesa.

Orange County Fair 2026 -- Costa Mesa
Jul 17 – Aug 17, 2026 OC Fair & Event Center, 88 Fair Dr…

Standing in line for a funnel cake at nine at night in August is not something anyone plans. It just happens, every year, to the same people who swore they were only stopping by. That is the fair: carnival rides, deep-fried everything, and the specific noise-and-neon overload that makes a summer feel like it actually happened. The food is the honest draw — turkey legs, bacon-wrapped corn, deep-fried Oreos, the choices that make a nutritionist wince and a county fair what it is. The Pacific Amphitheatre runs nightly inside the grounds, classic rock through Latin pop through country, bass competing with the Ferris wheel lights, and it is one of the better outdoor rooms in Southern California. Livestock barns, fine arts competitions and the Action Sports Arena fill the daylight hours. Bring the person you always end up at the fair with anyway.

While you are looking Different scene, same night out.

Anime Expo 2027 — Los Angeles Convention Center
Jul 1 – Jul 4, 2027 Los Angeles Convention Center, 120…

You will be tired in a way that feels earned. Four days, a hundred thousand people, and not one of them needs you to explain what you are talking about. The largest anime convention in North America takes the Los Angeles Convention Center over Fourth of July weekend and spills into the JW Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton beside it. Industry panels, screening rooms, autograph sessions with voice actors and composers, concerts that sell out weeks ahead. Studios from Japan use this as their main North American announcement stage — if a sequel or adaptation is being revealed, it often happens in a room you could be standing in. The exhibit hall carries imported merchandise and collaboration exclusives that surface nowhere else on the continent. Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 S Figueroa St. Thursday through Sunday. Badges run from top-tier early-access down to single-day passes. Book the connected hotel corridor months out. Everyone who tells you that learned it the hard way.

Pacific Beach Night Market
Monthly · Next Nov 4 Free Bayard St and Garnet Ave, Pacific …

A hundred and fifty steps from the ocean, a corner of Pacific Beach turns into a block party that nobody had to organize you into. Fire pits going. Nine to twelve food vendors rotating week to week, so the thing you loved last time might be gone and the thing replacing it might be better. Live music that is genuinely local — acoustic sets, small bands, the occasional DJ. Games. A crowd of PB locals and students and people who simply wandered up from the beach still holding a towel. Past vendors have run birria tacos, banh mi, craft lemonade, Hawaiian shave ice, artisan pastries, small-batch hot sauces. A few craft sellers usually set up alongside. This is a neighborhood gathering, not a ticketed event. Free. No RSVP. You walk up. Bayard St and Garnet Ave, Pacific Beach. 5 to 9:30 PM. Bring a layer — it cools off fast after sunset, even in August.

Taste of Soul LA 2026
In 9 days · Oct 17 Free Crenshaw Blvd (Martin Luther King …

The smell reaches you before the stages do - barbecue and catfish and soul food covering a mile-plus of Crenshaw Boulevard, because every major Black-owned restaurant in South LA has a booth out here and the food is the center of the whole thing. For one Saturday in October, this stretch between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Leimert Park Village becomes one of the largest street festivals in Los Angeles. More than 300,000 people move through in a single day. The format is street vendors, restaurant booths, live music stages, a car show, health screenings, and community organization presence - but it is the food and the crowd that make it. Founded by the Los Angeles Sentinel, the oldest Black-owned newspaper in California, it has run for over two decades and stayed a genuine community institution: multigenerational, neighborhood-rooted, and enormous. This is Leimert Park and Crenshaw at their fullest. Free to attend. Crenshaw closes to traffic for the day. The Metro K Line stops at Leimert Park Village and is the easiest way in and out. Arrive early if you want to move - by noon the crowds are deep.

The market hosts live music from local musicians throughout the day. GLAM is free to attend and open to all ages. Shaded seating is available. The market runs 10 AM to 4 PM. Pioneer Boulevard shuts down, and for one day the biggest Little India in Southern California becomes the biggest Diwali party west of the Mississippi. The Artesia Diwali Mela takes over seven blocks of Pioneer Boulevard — from 183rd Street to 188th Street — with a main stage of Indian music and dance performances, dozens of food vendors serving everything from chaat to biryani to fresh jalebi, cultural booths, merchants with jewelry and textiles, and a street-level energy that makes Diwali feel like exactly what it is: the festival of lights brought to life in a California parking lane. Sunday, November 10, 2026, 11 AM to 10 PM. Pioneer Boulevard, Artesia, CA. Free admission. If you know someone who grew up celebrating Diwali and hasn't been to this yet, send them this. Fleet Week San Diego 2026
Nov 6 – Nov 9, 2026 Free admission Broadway Pier, 1000 North Harbor D…

Your chest hears them before your ears do. A sound comes in off the water, every conversation on the Embarcadero stops mid-sentence, and a few thousand heads tilt back at the same moment. This is the week the Blue Angels belong to San Diego Bay, flying low enough that the downtown skyline becomes their backdrop. What visitors miss is the quieter half. You can walk aboard Navy destroyers, submarines, and amphibious ships free of charge, up the gangway and into the passageways where somebody's kid stands on deployment. The Parade of Ships moves through the bay, the bands play, and the city says out loud that the Navy is its largest employer. This is not a show San Diego hosts. It is San Diego looking at itself. Free, family-friendly, on the Broadway Pier and Embarcadero in October, and the trolley beats parking on air show day. Bring the person who has never stood underneath one of those passes.
