If you know The Living Tombstone from the internet — and statistically, you do, because Yoav Landau's tracks have been streamed a billion times across YouTube and Spotify without most people knowing his name — then you already know the sound. Electronic, rock, and chiptune fused into something that lives in the space between video game soundtracks and proper dance music, made by someone who built a career writing songs about Five Nights at Freddy's and then kept leveling up until the music outgrew the meme.
The SOMA show brings Landau's project to a venue that fits the vibe — standing room, all ages, the kind of crowd that discovered this music through gaming communities and fan-made animations and now gets to hear it through speakers that weigh more than they do. The live show translates the production in a way the bedroom headphone experience can't — bass you feel, drops timed to lighting rigs, the communal energy of a room full of people who found the same strange corner of the internet.

SOMA San Diego, 3350 Sports Arena …
Steve Jones is standing ten feet away from you playing the riff that started everything.
The Sex Pistols — original members Jones, Paul Cook, and Glen Matlock — return with Frank Carter on vocals for a North American tour that stops at SOMA on October 16. Carter, the ferocious frontman of Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes and ex-Gallows, brings the dangerous energy that this music was built on. Support from LA's Militarie Gun, whose post-hardcore sets have been tearing through SoCal basements for years.
This is not nostalgia. This is the band that detonated the blueprint for every punk show that followed, playing a room small enough that you can see the sweat. SOMA's concrete floor and low ceiling were built for exactly this volume. The people in this room are not here because they read about punk in a textbook. They are here because the first time they heard 'Anarchy in the U.K.' something clicked and never unclicked.
Doors 7 PM. Show 8 PM. Tickets from $114 via Ticketmaster. All ages.

If you grew up in California between 2012 and 2016, there's a good chance The Story So Far was the soundtrack to the drive that changed something. Pop-punk with the self-awareness to know it's pop-punk and the conviction to play it like it matters anyway — the Walnut Creek band that turned suburban restlessness into something a generation moshed to in venues exactly like this one.
SOMA's Mainstage is the right room for this. Big enough to hold the energy, small enough that the pit reaches the stage. The Starting Line opens with the kind of elder-emo gravitas that makes the crowd remember there was pop-punk before there was The Story So Far, and Ultra Q fills the gap between nostalgia and whatever comes next. Then TSSF walks on and the room forgets it has a ceiling.
This is an all-ages, general admission, standing show. If you know, you know. If you don't, ask the person next to you — they've been waiting for this since the tour was announced.

Sub Urban makes music that sounds like someone left the lights on in a haunted house and a DJ showed up. Dark-pop with production so dense it practically has texture — the kind of songs that live on playlists titled things your parents wouldn't approve of, streamed by the demographic that discovered him through 'Cradles' and stayed for the whole uncanny valley.
The Bell Tolls Tour brings the Taiwanese American singer-songwriter to SOMA's Sidestage for an all-ages, standing-room-only show that will pack the room with the exact crowd you'd expect: people who know every lyric, dressed like they coordinate with the album art, filming vertically. SOMA's Sidestage is the intimate configuration — closer quarters, louder per capita, the kind of venue where you feel the bass in your sternum.

You know the feeling at two in the morning when an old synth line comes on and the highway briefly looks like a movie you starred in twenty years ago. That is the entire catalog, and live it is worse, or better, depending on how much of yourself you were planning to hold together tonight.
Tyler Lyle and Tim McEwan write like the soundtrack to a John Hughes film that never got made: neon-drenched synths, saxophone breaks with no business being that devastating, and a treatment of nostalgia as a superpower rather than an affliction. The newer record leans harder into the sci-fi end of it. But the show is where the thing reveals itself, because this is not an audience watching a band. It is a room of people who each independently worked out that synthwave is a feeling, and then discovered they were not alone in it.
SOMA in San Diego, all ages, a concrete room where the sound finds you personally.
Bring whoever used to drive around with you at night with nowhere to be.

Some bills exist because a promoter had a spreadsheet. This one exists because somebody understood that the people who love one of these bands already love the other, and got them onto the same stage before anyone could talk them out of it.
Beach Bunny writes the hooks that compress an entire emotional era into three minutes flat. The Beths fly in from Auckland with harmony-drenched guitar pop so exuberant it makes you want to grab the stranger beside you by the shoulders and ask whether they are hearing this. Wishy opens, filling the gaps between the two energy peaks with dream-pop that has been building its own quiet following.
SOMA is not a stadium. It is a room where the bass hits your sternum and you stand close enough to sing the harmonies back at Liz Stokes and be heard doing it.
If you have ever texted a friend 'this song is about us,' this is the live version of that. Send it to them now.
While you are lookingDifferent scene, same night out.

Mariners Point Park, Mission Bay, …
The bay does something to music that a room cannot replicate. It opens the sound up, lets the bass travel across water, and turns the sunset into a second stage nobody booked and everybody watches.
Mariners Point sits right on the seam where San Diego stops being a city and starts being a coastline, and for three days in October it fills with a bill where every single band is somebody's favorite. Rebelution and The Offspring on top. Steel Pulse, SOJA, Common Kings, The Interrupters, The Movement, Kolohe Kai, Goldfinger, The Expendables underneath. Reggae, rock, and punk, with a crowd that is pure San Diego — flip-flops, sunburn, and a laid-back intensity that only exists when you can hear the ocean between songs.
Single-day and three-day passes, with VIP adding separate entry, shade, private bars, and $2 tacos that arguably justify the upgrade on their own.
Bring sunscreen, bring people, and accept that October here is just summer under a different name.

Somewhere between city pop and shoegaze there is a room that only opens at night, and Yuki Chiba holds the key. The Japanese singer-songwriter's voice sits in the same frequency as streetlights reflecting off wet pavement — warm, a little blurred, impossible to ignore once you've noticed it. This is his first headline tour in North America, which means the room will be full of people who discovered him through playlists that autoplay at 2 AM, through anime-adjacent OSTs that hit harder than the show itself, through a friend's story that just said 'trust me.' The Music Box in Little Italy is small enough that you'll feel the bass in your chest and see the setlist taped to the monitor. This is the kind of show where the crowd is half the experience — everyone there found him the same way you did, and nobody can explain why it feels this personal. Tickets are twenty-five dollars advance, thirty at the door.

Somewhere in this city tonight there is a back room where the pinball never stopped — machines everyone assumed died with the arcades, lined up, lit up, and played for blood by people who know each ruleset cold. You thought it was nostalgia. They kept it a sport.
Once a month the league runs a real tournament: matchplay, a new opponent and a random machine every round, points stacking across the night. It is IFPA-sanctioned, but that is not why the regulars come. A good table is the most honest machine there is. It does not care who you are, only whether you can read the ball.
Here is what outsiders never expect: this crowd wants you to get good. Show up knowing only how to keep a ball alive and someone ranked will lean over between rounds and show you where the safe nudge is, when to let it drain on purpose.
Venues rotate. Check the league's Facebook group and the IFPA calendar for this month's location. All-ages at most stops, 21+ at the bars.

Riot Games Arena, 12181 Bluff Cree…
Every region sends its dark horses, and most of them go home in the first week. That is what makes the opening stage the most nervous, least predictable stretch of the whole tournament.
The Play-In Stage is where teams that did not walk in with a guaranteed bracket spot have to earn one, on foreign soil, against opponents they have only ever studied on video. Nothing is safe and nobody is comfortable. Upsets that reshape the entire championship happen here, in front of a few hundred people, before the broadcast audience has fully tuned in.
Riot Games Arena is the tightest, loudest room in North American esports — small enough that crowd noise reaches the stage, close enough to watch a player's posture change when a fight goes wrong. From inside that building it is a different sport.
Riot Games Arena, 12181 Bluff Creek Dr, Playa Vista. October 15-18. Tickets through lolesports.com.
If you have only ever watched it on stream, this is the one to go to.

Los Angeles Convention Center, 120…
You will be tired in a way that feels earned. Four days, a hundred thousand people, and not one of them needs you to explain what you are talking about.
The largest anime convention in North America takes the Los Angeles Convention Center over Fourth of July weekend and spills into the JW Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton beside it. Industry panels, screening rooms, autograph sessions with voice actors and composers, concerts that sell out weeks ahead. Studios from Japan use this as their main North American announcement stage — if a sequel or adaptation is being revealed, it often happens in a room you could be standing in.
The exhibit hall carries imported merchandise and collaboration exclusives that surface nowhere else on the continent.
Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 S Figueroa St. Thursday through Sunday. Badges run from top-tier early-access down to single-day passes.
Book the connected hotel corridor months out. Everyone who tells you that learned it the hard way.

You do not need a group, a character, or any idea what you are doing. That is the entire design.
Drop in on a Thursday evening, pick up a pregenerated character sheet, and join a table — mid-campaign or at the start of something fresh. Dungeon Masters are provided. Dice are provided. Rules questions are not tolerated so much as encouraged.
Tables sort by Tier, so a first-time player rolling their first d20 sits with other new characters instead of getting lost behind a party three levels deep. If you already have a D&D Beyond character in Adventurers League legal format, bring it — after tonight it is recognized at any AL table anywhere in the world, which is the quietly remarkable part of organized play.
Game Empire SD, 5037 Shawline St, San Diego — a dedicated tabletop store with real event space and staff who know the rules. Parking on-site. Most sessions need no reservation; check the store calendar.
The only bad session is the one you did not show up for.
