Indo Warehouse
In 2 days · Oct 9 Quartyard, 1301 Market St, San Die…

Most dance music imported into an American club arrives stripped of wherever it came from. This one refuses to do that, and the refusal is the entire draw. Indo Warehouse builds sets around South Asian instrumentation and vocals folded into house and progressive — tabla and sitar and Hindi vocal lines running underneath four-on-the-floor, played to rooms that are usually half diaspora and half people who wandered in and stayed. For a lot of the first group it is the first time their parents' music and their own night out have occupied the same space without either one being a novelty. That is not a small thing to arrange. The shipping-container venue downtown is open-air, which suits a five-o'clock start and a set that begins in daylight and finishes after dark. Five until ten on Friday the ninth of October, at 13th and Market.

Know Good + Blookah + More at Quartyard
In 10 days · Oct 17 Quartyard, 1301 Market St, San Die…

The bill that nobody outside the city has heard of is usually the one worth going to. Touring headliners are a known quantity; a local lineup on a Saturday afternoon is a bet on a scene, and the people in the crowd are mostly the ones building it. San Diego's bass and downtempo scene has spent years being overshadowed by Los Angeles two hours north, which has had the useful side effect of keeping it unpretentious. Know Good and Blookah work the slower, weirder end — trap tempos slowed down, a lot of space in the arrangements, the sort of thing that works far better outdoors in late afternoon light than it ever does at 2 AM in a dark room. The shipping-container yard downtown is the right venue for exactly this: open-air, concrete, a bar in a converted container, and no pretense whatsoever. Gates at four on Saturday the seventeenth; the light goes gold around six and that is the part to be there for.

Sleight of Sound Tour — Yheti B2B Toadface at Quartyard, San Diego
In 11 days · Oct 18 Quartyard, 1301 Market St, San Die…

Bass hits differently when the walls are shipping containers and there is no ceiling to trap it — the low end goes up and out over downtown instead of straight back into your chest, and anyone who has mixed in that lot builds the night around the difference. Back to back means neither of them holds anything in reserve. Yheti's sound design splits a room cleanly down the middle: half the crowd covers their ears, the other half closes their eyes and leans directly into it. Toadface matches him note for note. This is experimental bass at its most alive, which mostly means unpredictable. The lot in East Village is small enough that every person there chose to be, tracked the tour dates, and cleared the afternoon. Nobody wandered in, and that changes a crowd completely. Outdoors in October with the skyline as the backdrop. Go with whoever sends you tour announcements at two in the morning.

Hovvdy — Quartyard, San Diego
Oct 22, 2026 Quartyard, 1102 Market St, San Die…

Some bands make music that sounds like remembering a drive you took once with someone who doesn't call anymore. Hovvdy is two guys from Austin who have been quietly building a catalog of songs that feel like that — warm, unhurried, the kind of slowcore-adjacent indie rock that rewards the people who find it with the private conviction that this band belongs to them. The Quartyard show puts Hovvdy in one of San Diego's most distinctive outdoor spaces — a repurposed shipping-container venue in East Village with open sky overhead and the kind of loose energy that lets a band like this breathe. Their latest work sits somewhere between Bon Iver's restraint and Yo La Tengo's patience, and live it translates into something gentler and more present than a recording can hold. You know someone who needs to hear this band. You've probably already thought of their name while reading this. Thursday evening, 6:30 PM. Quartyard, 1102 Market St, San Diego. 21+.

Hovvdy, Emma Ogeir
Oct 22, 2026 Quartyard, 1301 Market St, San Die…

Outdoor shows that start before sunset are a different social object entirely. You can see everyone's face, which means you have to actually be there with them. The music suits it. Two Texans making deliberately gentle, slightly blurry guitar songs about ordinary domestic tenderness — the sort of record people put on while cooking and then find themselves standing still for. Live and outdoors with downtown going up behind the stage, the quietness stops reading as small and starts reading as spacious. Emma Ogeir opens, working a similarly unhurried register, so the whole bill stays in one mood rather than jolting between them. Doors at six, music at six-thirty, on a Thursday, finished early enough that the night is still fully available afterward. October 22, Quartyard, 1301 Market St. Bring whoever you are comfortable being quiet next to. East Village keeps this lot programmed most of the year and half the city still thinks of it as a parking lot with a fence.

Flamingosis: Bright Moments 10 Year Anniversary
Oct 23, 2026 Quartyard, 1102 Market St, San Die…

A record turns ten and you realise you have been dating the rest of your life against it. You know where you were living. You know who you were trying to impress. The album did not change; the distance did. Bright Moments came out in 2016 and became one of those records that spread entirely sideways — SoundCloud, shared links, a friend saying just listen to it. Aaron Velasquez builds it out of crate-dug funk and live instrumentation rather than presets, which is why it has aged like a record and not like a playlist. Shrimpnose opens. Quartyard is an outdoor lot made of shipping containers in the East Village, so this is a six p.m. show under an open sky rather than a dark room — closer to a block party than a concert, and the right shape for a record that always sounded like late summer. Friday, October 23. Six p.m. 1102 Market Street, San Diego. Ten years is long enough that the room will be full of people who found it separately and are about to find that out.

Anime SD: Halloween Costume Meetup
Oct 24, 2026 Free Quartyard, 1301 Market St, San Die…

You have been building it since summer. The wig came in wrong, you redid the seams twice, and there is one detail nobody outside a very specific fandom will catch — which is exactly why you need to be in a room where somebody will. The Saturday before Halloween is when a costume hits peak intensity: months of work, worn among people who arrived in the same spirit. Quartyard is the right room for it. Outdoors in East Village, the air finally cool, venue lights doing what a phone flash never can, and a crowd that came to see the builds rather than to be seen. The conversation about who chose which character and why runs all night. Free to attend on October 24th, details at meetup.com/anime-watch-san-diego. Come in the thing you have been sewing for months or the thing you assembled last night — both are read the same way here.

Ne'Ol Soul: 1 Year Anniversary
Nov 5, 2026 Quartyard, 1301 Market St, San Die…

The first birthday of a night is the one that actually means something. Year one is when it was still possible for nobody to show up — when the people running it were covering the sound guy out of pocket and texting friends individually to please just come. Making it twelve months means a city decided it wanted the thing to exist. Soul nights live or die on whether the room sings back, and the ones that work build a congregation rather than an audience: the same faces monthly, somebody's aunt on the dancefloor by the third song, a bar staff who know the set. An anniversary edition is where that gets said out loud — expect the founders to make a speech nobody asked for and everybody wants, and expect the deep cuts to come out because the crowd has earned them. Thursday, five-thirty, outdoors in East Village. A room that keeps showing up for a year is how a scene starts, and most of them never get written about at all.

Laugh Outside: Matt Stanton's 1000th Comedy Show
Nov 6, 2026 Quartyard, 1301 Market St, San Die…

A thousand shows is the number nobody in the audience is supposed to know about. It is a private milestone — bar rooms with four people in them, a Tuesday in a laundromat, the drive home rewriting a tag that died. Standing in a yard watching someone hit it in public is a strange and good thing to be invited to, because the person on stage is counting and you are not. Comedy outdoors is harder than it looks. There is no ceiling to hold the laugh in, so a joke either travels across open air or it evaporates, and comics who work this series will tell you the first two minutes are spent teaching a crowd under the sky how to be a room. Quartyard is built out of shipping containers in East Village with a lawn and a beer line and dogs underfoot, which means the laughs you do get are the ones that earned it. Six in the evening on a Friday, downtown San Diego. Every comic you have ever loved had a thousandth show that nobody filmed.

Bag Raiders — Quartyard, San Diego
Nov 8, 2026 $20 Quartyard, 1301 Market St, San Die…

One of your songs got turned into a joke. Years of a clip of a guy's face shooting across a screen, and somewhere in all that you stopped being able to tell whether you ever actually loved it or only remember loving it. You find out in a lot full of shipping containers while Jack Glass and Chris Stracey play the thing live at three in the afternoon, sun still fully up, nobody filming because there is no drop worth filming. It turns out you loved it. Sunday day shows are their own category. Done by eight, dinner after, work tomorrow and somehow you do not care. The containers hold sound in better than a proper room has any right to. Market Street downtown, twenty dollars, twenty-one and up. The crowd will be almost entirely people who have never admitted this out loud.

Slothrust, Um, Jennifer?
Nov 15, 2026 Quartyard, 1301 Market St, San Die…

Some bands are load-bearing. You found them at nineteen, they said the thing you could not, and a decade later the records still function as a place to put a feeling rather than as music you merely like. Leah Wellbaum's guitar playing is the reason — blues-shaped, slightly out of tune with its own sadness, funny in the places that should hurt. The crowd for this is unusually specific and knows it. People will drive from Riverside. Someone near you will cry during a song that is technically about a dog. The support slot going to a band called Um, Jennifer? is a good sign about the bill's sense of humour, and the whole thing lands outdoors on a Sunday evening in a yard made of shipping containers, which suits a band that has never once sounded like an arena. Six in the evening, downtown San Diego, under whatever the sky is doing. The bands that carry you at nineteen do not stop touring just because you stopped telling people about them.

San Diego Freak Out Presents: Triptophantasia
Nov 27, 2026 Quartyard, 1301 Market St, San Die…

The Friday after Thanksgiving has a specific flatness to it. The food is gone, the relatives are still there, and the day has no shape — which is exactly the gap a local psych collective decided to fill with a pun and a wall of reverb. The name is a tryptophan joke. They are not apologising for it. San Diego Freak Out has spent years booking the city's garage and psych bands into rooms that are slightly wrong for them, and the result is a crowd that genuinely overlaps: people who came for one band stay for the three they had never heard, because the collective's whole premise is that the scene is the product and the lineup is just that month's evidence. Expect long intros, a fog of pedals, and somebody's cousin running the merch table. Five in the afternoon, outdoors, downtown San Diego, the lawn open to whoever wanders in. A scene you can only find by being told about it is still being told about.

HARBOUR
Dec 12, 2026 ✨ New $31.42 Quartyard, 1301 Market St, San Die…

San Diego in the middle of December is the quiet flex of this entire state. Sixty-four degrees, a jacket you are carrying rather than wearing, and the rest of the country posting photographs of their windshields. Quartyard was built on a vacant downtown lot out of shipping containers and then flatly refused to behave like a temporary thing. Open air, a beer window, a stretch of grass where people bring dogs that are more socially confident than anybody standing there. Watching a band through that gap between the containers, with the East Village carrying on behind them and a train going by somewhere, is a specific kind of evening you simply cannot buy indoors. A six o'clock start means the set ends early enough to go find food afterward and argue about where. For the friend who claims they do not really go to shows and then sings every word. Doors six at 1301 Market St, downtown San Diego.

Anamanaguchi, Covet, sueter7
Oct 3, 2026 Quartyard, 1301 Market St, San Die…

The sound of a Nintendo chip is not nostalgia for everybody. For a certain kind of person it is the sound of being eight years old, alone in a room where nothing bad was happening, and hearing it played loud by four people on a stage does something complicated to the chest. Anamanaguchi run their music through a hacked NES. Not an emulator and not a plugin — the actual hardware, the physical chip, wired into a live band with guitar and drums stacked on top. They wrote the score for the Scott Pilgrim video game, which is how most people found them, and they have spent every year since proving the chiptune was never a novelty. Covet co-headline, and Yvette Young's fretboard-tapping instrumentals drag in a completely different crowd — math rock kids who came to study technique and end up dancing anyway. Those two audiences almost never share a floor. That is the reason to go. Downtown at 13th and Market, doors at six on Saturday the third. All ages.
