San Diego Summer Movies in the Park 2026
Every Saturday · Next Oct 10 Free Waterfront Park, 1600 Pacific Hwy,…

Grass under a blanket, somebody's dog wandering the row, and a kid down front narrating the plot to nobody in particular. Half the neighborhood is out here and not one of them paid anything to be. Somebody decided that every part of this city deserved at least one summer evening of a movie outdoors under an actual sky, and then went and did it, park by park, year after year. The format is the whole idea: find the screening closest to you, bring something to sit on, arrive before dark. No seats to reserve, no venue with opinions about your shoes. Just a park turning into a theater for a few hours because people wanted somewhere good to be. The lineup runs wide enough that something is always worth the trip — a recent release, an old one, something the kids have not seen. Rotating locations from July into October, free. Find the one nearest you and tell your neighbors. That is genuinely all it takes.

San Diego Night Market — Fall Edition
In 10 days · Oct 17 Free entry Waterfront Park, 1600 Pacific Hwy,…

October air at the waterfront is the thing people mean when they say San Diego has great weather - warm enough to be comfortable, cool enough to walk without sweating, the bay throwing back the city lights by the time you've been there an hour. The San Diego Night Market's Fall Edition comes back with that cooler air and the vendor rows and the street food and the setting that makes it worth scheduling your month around. The fall market runs differently than the summer version; autumn evenings at Waterfront Park have a specific quality the July nights don't. The night works on foot traffic and conversation: you don't need a plan to have a good time here, just a direction to walk and a sense of what you feel like eating. Bring cash if you have it - not every vendor takes cards. Arrive before 7 to find a spot at the waterfront tables. Waterfront Park, 1600 Pacific Hwy, San Diego. October 17th. Free entry. Walk one block inland afterward and the rest of downtown is still open, which is how a two-hour plan quietly becomes the whole evening.

SD Night Market — October Edition

Someone in a full monster costume is debating a ramen menu with someone in a historical gown, and neither of them thinks this is strange - because on Halloween, this is just what the Night Market becomes. It is the most photographed, most food-dense, most visually strange version of the whole year. The food vendors are the same ones you already love - the Filipino bowls, the Korean street food, the Japanese snacks, the handmade goods - but the context flips. Walking the vendor rows past the waterfront while a city's worth of costumes moves through the same aisles is San Diego doing its own version of Halloween. Arrive before 7 to grab a bay-side table before they fill. Bring cash if you have it - not every vendor takes cards. Waterfront Park, 1600 Pacific Hwy, San Diego. October 31st. Free. The market comes back in other months without the costumes, and the regulars will happily argue with you about which edition is the real one.

17th Annual Brazilian Festival — San Diego 2026
Aug 29, 2026 $20-$60 Waterfront Park, 1600 Pacific High…

The drumline starts and something in your chest recognizes a rhythm it has never heard before. That is not a metaphor — watch what your feet do before you decide anything. Ten hours of samba, live music, capoeira, and food that will make you resentful of everything you ate last week. Paula Lima headlines, a Latin Grammy nominee, with Negritude Junior, Vitin, and Forromeno on the bill. The carnival parade cuts straight through the crowd rather than past it, and the capoeira roda turns physics into an argument nobody wins. This is not a sampler platter of Brazilian culture with a gift shop attached. The community here has been throwing it for seventeen years for one reason: the music does not translate. You have to stand inside it. Kids' rides, cultural exhibits, and a food court that treats rice and beans like the art form they are. So come stand inside it, and bring somebody who needs loosening up.

Five thousand feet above the valley, the air is thinner and the beer tastes better. Or maybe that's just what happens when you put craft breweries next to a lake and tell everyone to relax. The 16th Annual Lake Arrowhead Brewfest takes over Waterfront Park at Lake Arrowhead Village on August 22, 2026 from 11 AM to 4 PM. Craft breweries and homebrew clubs pour under a marquee tent with the San Bernardino Mountains as the backdrop. This is not a parking lot beer fest. This is a lakeside afternoon at 5,100 feet where the only thing competing with the IPAs is the view. 21+ only. Waterfront Park, Lake Arrowhead Village, Lake Arrowhead, CA. If you've ever thought 'beer festival, but in the mountains,' someone already built it and has been running it for sixteen years.

San Diego Night Market — Summer Edition
Jun 13, 2026 Free entry Waterfront Park, 1600 Pacific Hwy,…

The waterfront is different after dark. The San Diego Night Market returns to Waterfront Park on June 13, 2026 — free entry, hundreds of vendors, street food from across the region, and the energy of a market that doesn't try to be a farmers market. It runs in the evening on purpose. The light changes. The crowd is different — not the Saturday morning grocery run, but the people who came out because the night is good. Music, local artists, food vendors from restaurants you wouldn't find otherwise. The Night Market draws San Diego's independent maker and food community — the vendors you don't encounter in the usual places. The street food range covers a wider diversity of cuisine than any single neighborhood market. Come after 7 PM if you want the full atmosphere. Free to attend. Runs along the waterfront until well past dark. The market floor runs into the evening — arrival after sunset gives you the full atmosphere.

SoCal Taco Fest — San Diego
May 16, 2026 From $10 Waterfront Park, 1600 Pacific Hwy,…

The Guac-Off is not a gimmick. There are people at this festival who have been perfecting their recipe all year — this is where they find out if they're right. SoCal Taco Fest brought La Sonora Dinamita to SeaWorld San Diego in May 2026, which tells you exactly what kind of afternoon it was. Lucha Libre All-Stars on one side of the grounds. Vendors serving regional styles you don't find on most menus. The full taco competition running alongside rides and the park. Admission covers everything. If you grew up with this music in the background of every family gathering, you already knew what kind of crowd this would be. If you didn't — it's the kind of afternoon that makes you wonder what else you've been missing. It runs again. Watch this space.

Into the Horizon Music Festival 2026
Jun 27 – Jun 28, 2026 Varies Waterfront Park, 1600 Pacific Hwy,…

Into the Horizon brings two days of world-class electronic music to Waterfront Park along the San Diego Bay, produced by Insomniac Events — the team behind Electric Daisy Carnival and Beyond Wonderland. Headliners Martin Garrix and Tiësto anchor a lineup spanning house, techno, trance, and bass music across multiple stages. Waterfront Park sits directly on the bay in downtown San Diego, giving this festival one of the most spectacular urban festival settings in California. The stage configurations take advantage of the open waterfront, with the San Diego Bay as the backdrop for the main stage. Daytime programming runs through sunset, and the evening sets are designed around the bay lighting and skyline. Insomniac festivals are known for production quality — LED rigs, full stage decor, and the infrastructure that distinguishes a produced event from a promoter show. Food and beverage vendors are spread throughout the grounds. The venue is walkable from the downtown core, the Convention Center, and the Little Italy and Gaslamp neighborhoods. Two-day passes and single-day tickets are available. Age 18+. Rideshare drop-off on Pacific Highway. This is a marquee summer festival weekend for San Diego — whether you are a longtime EDM fan or just discovering the scene, Into the Horizon is the summer anchor event for the city.

Kinfolk Fest — Juneteenth San Diego 2026
Jun 20, 2026 Waterfront Park, 1600 Pacific Hwy,…

Most festivals put a headliner on a poster and build the day around whoever that is. This one puts the businesses in the center and lets the DJs run underneath the whole afternoon, which turns it into something closer to a block party where everybody happens to be selling what they make. Food, apparel, art, beauty, wellness, home goods, all of it from local and regional Black-owned vendors, with San Diego Bay sitting behind the tables. SD Melanin has been running this version of Juneteenth long enough that it now anchors the city's Black summer calendar, and the people working the booths know each other by name. Come early if you want to actually cover the market instead of skimming it. Waterfront Park, twenty-one and up, details at sdmelanin.com, and the trolley beats hunting for parking on Harbor Drive. Bring the friend who keeps saying San Diego does not have this.

First-year festivals have a quality nothing else does. Nobody is jaded yet, everyone is trying slightly too hard, and it shows in the best possible way. This one is North County deciding out loud that it is worth gathering for. The street closes through North City, the walkable village that grew up beside the university, and fills with local makers, food trucks, live music, and craft beer from the breweries that turned this stretch of the 78 into a destination. Families drift down the middle of a road they normally drive. The October light handles the rest. It is a hometown afternoon in a suburb still deciding what kind of place it wants to be. A Sunday in San Marcos, free to wander, with parking that is genuinely easy for once. Go hold up something scrappy in its first year. Bring a friend, get a beer, and be part of the reason it happens again.

Some neighborhoods have to build their own gathering place because the map never bothered to hand them one. Mira Mesa and the Convoy corridor did exactly that, and this is the autumn version of it. Same team as the night market, so the food-truck rows and vendor booths are what most people come for, and then it wraps all of that in everything a fall evening should have: a movie in the park, a trunk-or-treat, pumpkin decorating, live performances, and the particular warmth of an immigrant community that turns out in force for its own. It runs into the evening and it is free. You will watch three generations of one family split a single plate and stay until the movie ends, because nobody wants to be the one who suggests leaving. The senior center on Mira Mesa Boulevard, an October evening, no admission. If you grew up out here, you already know exactly who to send this to.

You will be tired in a way that feels earned. Four days, a hundred thousand people, and not one of them needs you to explain what you are talking about. The largest anime convention in North America takes the Los Angeles Convention Center over Fourth of July weekend and spills into the JW Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton beside it. Industry panels, screening rooms, autograph sessions with voice actors and composers, concerts that sell out weeks ahead. Studios from Japan use this as their main North American announcement stage — if a sequel or adaptation is being revealed, it often happens in a room you could be standing in. The exhibit hall carries imported merchandise and collaboration exclusives that surface nowhere else on the continent. Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 S Figueroa St. Thursday through Sunday. Badges run from top-tier early-access down to single-day passes. Book the connected hotel corridor months out. Everyone who tells you that learned it the hard way.

A hundred and fifty steps from the ocean, a corner of Pacific Beach turns into a block party that nobody had to organize you into. Fire pits going. Nine to twelve food vendors rotating week to week, so the thing you loved last time might be gone and the thing replacing it might be better. Live music that is genuinely local — acoustic sets, small bands, the occasional DJ. Games. A crowd of PB locals and students and people who simply wandered up from the beach still holding a towel. Past vendors have run birria tacos, banh mi, craft lemonade, Hawaiian shave ice, artisan pastries, small-batch hot sauces. A few craft sellers usually set up alongside. This is a neighborhood gathering, not a ticketed event. Free. No RSVP. You walk up. Bayard St and Garnet Ave, Pacific Beach. 5 to 9:30 PM. Bring a layer — it cools off fast after sunset, even in August.

The smell reaches you before the stages do - barbecue and catfish and soul food covering a mile-plus of Crenshaw Boulevard, because every major Black-owned restaurant in South LA has a booth out here and the food is the center of the whole thing. For one Saturday in October, this stretch between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Leimert Park Village becomes one of the largest street festivals in Los Angeles. More than 300,000 people move through in a single day. The format is street vendors, restaurant booths, live music stages, a car show, health screenings, and community organization presence - but it is the food and the crowd that make it. Founded by the Los Angeles Sentinel, the oldest Black-owned newspaper in California, it has run for over two decades and stayed a genuine community institution: multigenerational, neighborhood-rooted, and enormous. This is Leimert Park and Crenshaw at their fullest. Free to attend. Crenshaw closes to traffic for the day. The Metro K Line stops at Leimert Park Village and is the easiest way in and out. Arrive early if you want to move - by noon the crowds are deep.

The market hosts live music from local musicians throughout the day. GLAM is free to attend and open to all ages. Shaded seating is available. The market runs 10 AM to 4 PM. Getting there: Located in the Gaslamp Quarter, easily accessible by trolley (Gaslamp Quarter station on the Blue and Orange line). Street parking and paid lots available on nearby blocks.
