Grand National Roadster Show 2027
Feb 5, 2027 Fairplex, 1101 W McKinley Ave, Pom…

Somewhere in Southern California right now there is a man who has been working on the same car for four years. Not restoring it. Building it, from the frame up, chasing a specific idea he has never fully described out loud to anyone. He has a February deadline he set himself, and he is behind on it, and he will make it, and he will not sleep the week before. That is what fills the halls at Fairplex. The America's Most Beautiful Roadster trophy is nine feet tall and looks faintly absurd until you understand that grown men reorganize years of their life around it, and that some of them enter and lose and come back and enter again. Walk the buildings and you can read the obsession directly off the metal: hand-formed panels, paint with depth you cannot photograph, undersides finished as carefully as the hoods because the judges will look. This is the longest-running indoor car show in the world, and it happens in Pomona in the dead of winter, when nothing else does. February 5 through 7, 2027, at Fairplex.

ANIME Impulse Los Angeles 2027 — Fairplex, Pomona
Jan 16, 2027 varies Fairplex, 2118 N White Ave, Pomona…

You learned early to keep the volume down about it. The show that rearranged you at fourteen, the character you still think about on bad days — you mention it at work in a careful voice, already braced for the blank look. Then you walk into a hall on the Pomona fairgrounds in January and the blank look never comes. Somebody clocks your jacket from thirty feet out. A stranger finishes a line you only started. What surprises first-timers is how much of the floor is working artists rather than merch tables. The alley is where the real conversations happen, and whoever sells you a print stayed up arguing about that same ending you did. It takes over the grounds that hold the county fair, so there is room to breathe between the cosplay and the cafe tables. Two days, doors at ten, halls loud until seven. Everyone here got in through a different door.

Fairplex Oktoberfest 2026 — Pomona
Oct 2 – Oct 26, 2026 Paid - $20-$35 (21+) Fairplex, 1101 W McKinley Ave, Pom…

There's a specific joy in being one of two thousand people all raising a full stein at the same moment, and no home bar will ever reproduce it. That's the whole case for driving out to Pomona on an October Friday: the oom-pah band hits, someone three tables over starts the toast, and suddenly a fairground full of strangers is rowdy together in the way that only happens when everyone commits to the same ridiculous, wonderful bit. The Fairplex has room most Oktoberfests don't — this isn't a bar that hung some banners, it's the LA County Fair grounds turned into an actual open-air beer garden. German and craft on tap, pretzels and bratwurst and schnitzel doing exactly what they're supposed to, live polka carrying over all of it. It runs multiple weekends, and most people pick one Friday, make a night of it, and quietly start planning next year's before they've left the lot. 21+. Every Friday and Saturday evening in October, 6–11pm, at the Fairplex in Pomona — about 30 miles east of downtown on the 10, or the Metrolink San Bernardino Line to Pomona North. Designated-driver deals at the gate. Bring the friends who'll do the toast without being asked twice.

LA Roadster Show 2026 – Pomona Fairplex
Jun 19 – Jun 20, 2026 Fairplex at Pomona, Pomona, CA

Most car shows mix everything together and call the variety a feature. This one refuses, and the refusal is why it looks the way it does. Roadsters only. Open-body traditional hot rods in the style of the 1930s, 40s and 50s — the shape American car culture keeps returning to. Holding that line for six decades has produced something closer to a living museum than a show field: every car in visual conversation with every other car, no era drift, no exceptions made. The builds carry weight. Many of these have been in the same family for decades, or represent one person's entire lifetime of work on a single machine. The owners are standing right there, and they will tell you. The swap meet runs alongside, filling additional lots with parts, memorabilia, tools and vintage automotive goods for builders and collectors. Fairplex at Pomona. Gates 9 AM both days, ample parking across the fairgrounds, admission at the gate. Bring somebody who thinks they do not care about cars.

Summer Snow Car Show & Lowrider Spectacular — Pomona Fairplex
Aug 9, 2026 The Derby Room Pomona at Fairplex,…

The parking lot fills before the gates open. Not because of the event — because of the cars already rolling in for display. Lowriders on hydraulics, classics with candy paint so deep you can see yourself in it from twenty feet away, custom builds that someone spent years and arguments with their partner perfecting. The Summer Snow Car Show and Lowrider Spectacular is the kind of show where the builders know each other by name and the spectators become builders by the time they leave. The Derby Room at Pomona Fairplex transforms into a daylong celebration of SoCal car culture — the real one, the one that started in East LA garages and spread across every neighborhood that cared more about how a car looked than how fast it went. Expect lowriders, custom cruisers, pedal cars, and bikes competing for trophies, with vendor rows of parts, art, and culture merch filling the gaps. The live music lineup brings freestyle legend Trinere performing her hits alongside Suga Free, Tapps, and Bad Vic — so the soundtrack matches the cars: classic, loud, and exactly right. All ages welcome, no outside alcohol. Sunday, August 9, 2026. 1 PM – 9 PM. The Derby Room Pomona at Fairplex, 2201 N White Ave, Pomona, CA 91768. Tickets $35–$45; kids 5–10 $5, under 5 free.

California Show-Offs Car Show 2026
Jul 12, 2026 Free The Derby Room at Fairplex, 2201 N…

Airbrushed panels and candy paint read completely differently under show lighting than they do in a parking lot at noon - the detail work that outdoor shows wash out finally gets seen the way the builder intended. That's the whole argument for taking a custom car show indoors, and it's the argument California Show-Offs makes. Held in The Derby Room at the Pomona Fairplex - a venue that has hosted Pomona culture for decades - this show puts custom cars, trucks, motorcycles, and lowriders in a fully indoor, climate-controlled room with professional lighting designed for show vehicles. The intimate setting lets you get up close to the builds, talk to owners, and actually appreciate the custom interior work and engine-bay detail. The show draws builders from across the SoCal scene, so expect everything from fully traditional lowriders to slammed Euro-style customs to lifted trucks. Admission is free, making it one of the most accessible custom car events in the Inland Empire. The Fairplex sits centrally between Los Angeles and the Inland Empire, with ample free parking across the fairground lots. There's no corporate sponsorship and no national touring brand here - just local builders showing their work in front of people who understand what went into it. If you're anywhere near Pomona on a Saturday in July and you care about custom car culture, this is worth the stop.

While you are looking Different scene, same night out.

You will be tired in a way that feels earned. Four days, a hundred thousand people, and not one of them needs you to explain what you are talking about. The largest anime convention in North America takes the Los Angeles Convention Center over Fourth of July weekend and spills into the JW Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton beside it. Industry panels, screening rooms, autograph sessions with voice actors and composers, concerts that sell out weeks ahead. Studios from Japan use this as their main North American announcement stage — if a sequel or adaptation is being revealed, it often happens in a room you could be standing in. The exhibit hall carries imported merchandise and collaboration exclusives that surface nowhere else on the continent. Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 S Figueroa St. Thursday through Sunday. Badges run from top-tier early-access down to single-day passes. Book the connected hotel corridor months out. Everyone who tells you that learned it the hard way.

Pacific Beach Night Market
Monthly · Next Nov 4 Free Bayard St and Garnet Ave, Pacific …

A hundred and fifty steps from the ocean, a corner of Pacific Beach turns into a block party that nobody had to organize you into. Fire pits going. Nine to twelve food vendors rotating week to week, so the thing you loved last time might be gone and the thing replacing it might be better. Live music that is genuinely local — acoustic sets, small bands, the occasional DJ. Games. A crowd of PB locals and students and people who simply wandered up from the beach still holding a towel. Past vendors have run birria tacos, banh mi, craft lemonade, Hawaiian shave ice, artisan pastries, small-batch hot sauces. A few craft sellers usually set up alongside. This is a neighborhood gathering, not a ticketed event. Free. No RSVP. You walk up. Bayard St and Garnet Ave, Pacific Beach. 5 to 9:30 PM. Bring a layer — it cools off fast after sunset, even in August.

Taste of Soul LA 2026
In 9 days · Oct 17 Free Crenshaw Blvd (Martin Luther King …

The smell reaches you before the stages do - barbecue and catfish and soul food covering a mile-plus of Crenshaw Boulevard, because every major Black-owned restaurant in South LA has a booth out here and the food is the center of the whole thing. For one Saturday in October, this stretch between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Leimert Park Village becomes one of the largest street festivals in Los Angeles. More than 300,000 people move through in a single day. The format is street vendors, restaurant booths, live music stages, a car show, health screenings, and community organization presence - but it is the food and the crowd that make it. Founded by the Los Angeles Sentinel, the oldest Black-owned newspaper in California, it has run for over two decades and stayed a genuine community institution: multigenerational, neighborhood-rooted, and enormous. This is Leimert Park and Crenshaw at their fullest. Free to attend. Crenshaw closes to traffic for the day. The Metro K Line stops at Leimert Park Village and is the easiest way in and out. Arrive early if you want to move - by noon the crowds are deep.

The market hosts live music from local musicians throughout the day. GLAM is free to attend and open to all ages. Shaded seating is available. The market runs 10 AM to 4 PM. Getting there: Located in the Gaslamp Quarter, easily accessible by trolley (Gaslamp Quarter station on the Blue and Orange line). Street parking and paid lots available on nearby blocks. Pioneer Boulevard shuts down, and for one day the biggest Little India in Southern California becomes the biggest Diwali party west of the Mississippi. Sunday, November 10, 2026, 11 AM to 10 PM. Pioneer Boulevard, Artesia, CA. Free admission. If you know someone who grew up celebrating Diwali and hasn't been to this yet, send them this. Fleet Week San Diego 2026
Nov 6 – Nov 9, 2026 Free admission Broadway Pier, 1000 North Harbor D…

Your chest hears them before your ears do. A sound comes in off the water, every conversation on the Embarcadero stops mid-sentence, and a few thousand heads tilt back at the same moment. This is the week the Blue Angels belong to San Diego Bay, flying low enough that the downtown skyline becomes their backdrop. What visitors miss is the quieter half. You can walk aboard Navy destroyers, submarines, and amphibious ships free of charge, up the gangway and into the passageways where somebody's kid stands on deployment. The Parade of Ships moves through the bay, the bands play, and the city says out loud that the Navy is its largest employer. This is not a show San Diego hosts. It is San Diego looking at itself. Free, family-friendly, on the Broadway Pier and Embarcadero in October, and the trolley beats parking on air show day. Bring the person who has never stood underneath one of those passes.
