Smorgasburg Los Angeles — June 2026
Jun 7, 2026 Free admission ROW DTLA, 777 S Alameda St, Los An…

Smorgasburg Los Angeles runs every Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM at ROW DTLA, an open-air market and arts complex in the warehouse district south of the Arts District. The event is a West Coast outpost of the Brooklyn original — the largest weekly open-air food market in the country. On any given Sunday there are 50 to 80 food vendors, almost all of them small independent operations selling a single signature item. The variety is genuinely broad: Japanese milk bread, birria tacos, Nashville hot chicken, Hawaiian poke, Filipino ube desserts, Korean corn dogs, birria ramen, artisanal ice cream. Many vendors are pre-restaurant — this is where they test concepts before opening a brick-and-mortar. The complex also hosts design, vintage, and craft vendors alongside the food. Seating is spread across the open plaza. It operates rain or shine year-round. ROW DTLA is at 777 S Alameda St, Los Angeles. Parking is free on the property. Metro Gold Line Little Tokyo/Arts District station is a 10-minute walk. Admission is free. Budget $20–40 for food.

Dandadan: First Encounter — U.S. Theatrical Screening
Jun 6, 2026 AMC Theatres and Cinemark location…

Dandadan: First Encounter brings the wildest anime of 2025 to U.S. theaters on June 6, 2026 — a limited theatrical run from GKIDS and Fathom Events that packages the first arc of the beloved series for the big screen experience it deserves. The series follows Momo Ayase, who believes in ghosts but not aliens, and Ken Okarun, who believes in aliens but not ghosts — until the day they both turn out to be right. What follows is a supernatural action comedy that mixes paranormal investigator energy with shounen battle sequences and genuine emotional depth. The theatrical presentation brings the animation's kinetic visual style — OLM's dynamic direction, Eunyoung Choi's fluid action choreography — to a format where the scale actually registers. GKIDS theatrical screenings typically run at AMC, Regal, and Cinemark locations with subtitled and dubbed options. Check your local listings for exact showtimes and theater availability in Los Angeles and San Diego. This is not a watch-at-home event. The theatrical window is limited. If you've already watched the series on Netflix, this is the original Japanese broadcast presentation — the one that made the animation community stop what it was doing when it premiered. Tickets available through Fandango and the AMC app. Limited dates, limited theaters.

AniFest 2026
Jun 6, 2026 Torrance Cultural Arts Center, 333…

AniFest is the convention that remembers what conventions were supposed to feel like. One day at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center, and the whole floor hums with the particular energy of people who found each other through the same shows, the same characters, the same late-night rabbit holes. Over a hundred vendors line the hall — artist prints, plushies, handmade cosplay accessories, imports you cannot find anywhere near here. Twenty-plus celebrity guests rotate through the signing area, close enough to actually talk to. The V-Stage runs an idol performance set. Cosplay showcases. LAN Hero gaming tournaments if you want to compete. A maid cafe if you want to sit down and feel like you are in an episode. Small enough that you do not lose your friends in a crowd of sixty thousand. Large enough to fill the day twice over if you are the kind of person who stops at every table. Twenty dollars at the door. Children under 12 free with a paid adult. This is the convention where people make their first cosplay because the room is safe enough to try. Where the vendor who sells hand-painted Jujutsu Kaisen prints remembers you from last year. Where the community is not performing fandom — it just is fandom, in the same room, for one afternoon in Torrance.

SD Kollective Night Market
Jun 6, 2026 Free National City, San Diego, CA

The San Diego Kollective Foundation brings its community night market back in June 2026. Free entry, open to all ages, running from 3 PM to 8 PM with a full lineup of food vendors, a live DJ, and programming that reflects the cultural fabric of San Diego south bay communities. The SD Kollective Night Market is built around a simple idea: give local vendors, artists, and musicians a platform without charging anyone at the door. The organizers work with independent operators -- small food businesses, artists, community organizations -- who would otherwise be shut out of higher-barrier market events. The result is a market that feels less like a curated shopping experience and more like a neighborhood gathering that happens to have great food. What to expect: street food from local operators spanning a range of cuisines, artisan and craft vendors, community organizations tabling, and a DJ set that runs through the afternoon into early evening. The atmosphere is laid-back and family-friendly. Many attendees bring lawn chairs. This is a free community event run by a San Diego non-profit. No tickets needed.

Los Angeles Independent Beer Festival 2026 — Long Beach
Jun 6, 2026 $55-$80 Shoreline Aquatic Park, 400 Aquari…

More than 75 independent craft breweries from across Los Angeles gather at Shoreline Aquatic Park in Long Beach on June 6, 2026 for one of the best single-day beer festivals in Southern California. The venue sits next to the Queen Mary — which means you spend the afternoon sampling some of the best small-batch beer in the region with one of the most recognizable ships in the world as your backdrop. The LA Independent Beer Festival focuses specifically on LA-based independent breweries — not regional chain operations or national brands, but the small-production breweries that make the Los Angeles craft beer scene one of the most interesting in the country. Expect IPAs, lagers, sours, hazy pale ales, and more experimental small-batch releases from breweries that rarely get a San Diego platform. If you know the San Diego craft beer scene well, this is the event where you discover what is happening 100 miles north. The festival runs from noon to 4pm. General Admission tickets include unlimited 4-ounce pours across the full lineup of participating breweries. VIP tickets include early entry at 11am and access to an exclusive lounge area near the waterfront. Designated drivers and non-drinking guests are welcome at a reduced rate. Long Beach Shoreline Aquatic Park is located at 400 Aquarium Way, across from the Aquarium of the Pacific and adjacent to Rainbow Harbor. Parking in the downtown Long Beach lots runs $10–$15 for the day. The Metro A Line (Blue) stops at the Transit Gallery two blocks from the park, making this accessible from downtown Los Angeles without driving. This is not the SD Brew Fest. It is not trying to be. The LA craft beer scene has its own character, and this is where you find it concentrated in one place.

Little Saigon Night Market — Asian Garden Mall, Westminster
Jun 19 – Jun 5, 2026 Free 9200 Bolsa Ave, Westminster, CA 92…

The Little Saigon Night Market at Asian Garden Mall in Westminster runs every weekend throughout the summer — Friday through Sunday, 7 PM to 11 PM — which makes it one of the most accessible recurring Asian cultural events in Southern California. The format is Vietnamese street food as the anchor, surrounded by the broader range of vendors, merchandise, and cultural goods that have built Little Saigon into one of the most distinctive neighborhoods in the country. The Asian Garden Mall is the commercial heart of that neighborhood, and the night market activates the outdoor space in a way that draws both the local community and visitors who make the trip specifically for the experience. This is not a curated festival event with a defined end date — it is the weekly rhythm of a community that has been building this culture for decades. Free to enter. The crowd is genuine. The food is real. Westminster is easily accessible from the 405 and 22 freeways, and the area around the mall has its own dining ecosystem that extends the night well past 11 PM if you know where to go.

San Diego Padres vs New York Mets at Petco Park
Jun 5, 2026 100 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101

The New York Mets visit Petco Park on June 5 in a series between two franchises that have both arrived at different points in their respective rebuild cycles — the Mets with one of the largest payrolls in the sport, the Padres with a core built for sustained contention. A Mets series at Petco draws the New York contingent that lives and vacations in Southern California, and the right-field line becomes a conversation between transplant Mets fans and the Padres faithful who have been hearing about New York baseball since they were children. Petco Park on a June Friday is one of the most pleasant sports evenings San Diego offers: the commute done, the workweek concluded, the ballpark lit against a deep June sky, and three hours of National League East vs West baseball ahead of you. Against the Mets, the Padres know what they are facing. The result matters. Show up early enough to watch batting practice.

Abbot Kinney First Fridays — June 2026
Jun 5, 2026 Free Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice, Los Ang…

Abbot Kinney First Fridays runs the first Friday of every month from 5 to 10 PM on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, Los Angeles. The street transforms into a pedestrian-friendly outdoor market and block party with all the boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops extended open late alongside food trucks and live street performances. Abbot Kinney is one of the few streets in LA that has maintained a genuine neighborhood identity through decades of gentrification pressure — independent retailers, working artists, local restaurants, and design studios have anchored the block since the 1980s. First Fridays is the moment when the community that sustains those businesses shows up together. The energy is different from a festival. There is no main stage and no single sponsor. Just a few hundred people moving between shops, plates of food from local trucks, and occasional live music spilling out of storefronts. It is LA neighborhood culture at its most accessible. Street parking fills early. Metro Expo Line to 26th/Bergamot and a short rideshare, or park in the surrounding Venice residential streets and walk in. The event is free.

Cruisin' Grand Escondido — June 2026
Jun 5, 2026 Grand Ave, Escondido, CA 92025

Cruisin' Grand is the largest free weekly car show in the United States, held every Friday evening on Grand Avenue in historic downtown Escondido from April through September. The June 5, 2026 edition continues a tradition that has defined Friday nights in North County San Diego for decades. From 4 PM until dark, Grand Avenue closes to through traffic and fills with hundreds of cars — hot rods, custom cars, rat rods, lowriders, muscle cars, trucks, and original classics spanning a century of American automotive culture. There is no entry fee, no judging, no formal show structure. Cars show up, line the street, owners pop the hoods, and the community walks and talks. What makes Cruisin' Grand different from every other car show is the informal character: owners are present and enthusiastic about discussing their builds, spectators can get within arm's reach of machines that cost six figures, and the whole thing has the energy of a neighborhood block party that happens to have a 1932 Ford three-window coupe parked in front of the hardware store. Downtown Escondido's restaurants, bars, and shops stay open late on Friday nights to serve the Cruisin' Grand crowd. The show runs rain or shine (it rarely rains). Street parking in surrounding blocks or paid lots downtown. Bring the family, bring low chairs, and plan to stay until dark.
