Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival 2026 — Los Angeles, CA
Nov 14 – Nov 15, 2026 200 Dodger Stadium, 1000 Vin Scully Av…

Tyler the Creator builds his festival the way he makes his albums — as a complete vision, not a lineup. The 2026 edition runs November 16–17 at Dodger Stadium: Tyler himself, Andre 3000, Erykah Badu, Playboi Carti, Earl Sweatshirt, Vince Staples, Daniel Caesar. Sixty thousand people. This is his current read on what matters. Flog Gnaw feels nothing like a conventional music festival. Tyler's aesthetic — Golf Wang colors, surrealist visual direction, Converse collabs, the cartoon universe he's been building since Odd Future — pervades every inch of the grounds. The headliner list reads like Tyler's personal taste index rather than a booking agency's safe plays: Andre 3000's rare public appearances, Earl Sweatshirt's deliberately sparse touring schedule, legacy artists like Erykah Badu alongside younger voices. The surprise guest tradition is genuine — in past years unannounced performers have drawn more conversation than the headliners. The crowd skews young, fashion-conscious, and culturally literate in a way that is self-selecting. Flog Gnaw is the festival where people bring cameras for the fits, not just the performances. This is for people whose music listening doesn't fit a single genre label — who have Tyler the Creator, Badu, Earl, and Daniel Caesar on the same playlist and see nothing contradictory about that. It is for the aesthetically curious. It is not for people who want clear setlist times, grid-pattern stages, and predictable headliner slots. Tyler runs his festival on his own logic, and that's the point. If that energy resonates, Camp Flog Gnaw is one of the few festivals where the curation is unambiguously the product. Two-day passes sell significantly faster than single-day. The Dodger Stadium location is accessible by Metro (Dodger Stadium Express from Union Station — skip the parking). Merchandise drops at Flog Gnaw are serious and sell out quickly; the Golf Wang collabs available only at the festival have become collector items. Arrive early day one — the grounds have carnival rides, food, and art installations that reward exploration before the headliners. Andre 3000's live appearances remain rare enough to justify the trip from anywhere in the country. Tyler the Creator built a world — Golf Wang, Odd Future, Igor, Call Me If You Get Lost, Cherry Bomb — and Flog Gnaw is where that world becomes a place you can stand in for two days. The music industry produces thousands of festivals. Very few of them feel like they could only exist because one specific person willed them into being. Flog Gnaw is one of them. Tickets at Ticketmaster. November 16-17, 2026, Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles.

Sacramento made them and the Inland Empire shaped them, but San Diego is where they throw the party — thirty thousand people standing in a baseball stadium screaming lyrics that were written for a bedroom with the lights off. The lineup reads like a playlist you would build to explain yourself to somebody who almost understands: AFI for the theatrics, Converge for the violence, The Neighbourhood for the midnight drive, Jehnny Beth for the art-school intensity, and Ladrones, Lip Critic, Lustsickpuppy and BKTHERULA filling the spaces between with things that refuse to sit in one genre. It is not really a concert. It is a day-long identity confirmation disguised as a festival, held where people normally eat garlic fries and argue about the infield fly rule, and the collision of venue and mood is the entire point. If you know, you know. If you do not, the person beside you will be loud enough to teach you.

Half the fun is the arithmetic you run standing over a milk crate — is this a dealer who knows exactly what they have, or somebody clearing out a garage who has no idea. In a lot this size you get both, in the same aisle, on the same morning. Hundreds of vendors spread across the asphalt in the shadow of the stadium: vinyl, mid-century furniture, Levi's with the right stitching, sports memorabilia, film props, and objects that resist classification entirely. You can cover every row and still walk out certain you missed half of it. The early crowd is serious about this — the resellers and the collectors are through the gate before the rest of the city has finished its coffee. Monthly Saturdays in Lot A off Century Boulevard in Inglewood, small cash admission at the gate, and the K Line runs close enough to walk. Go early, and take the friend who cannot pass a record bin without stopping.

Laugh Outside: Matt Stanton's 1000th Comedy Show
In 13 days · Nov 6 Quartyard, 1301 Market St, San Die…

A thousand shows is the number nobody in the audience is supposed to know about. It is a private milestone — bar rooms with four people in them, a Tuesday in a laundromat, the drive home rewriting a tag that died. Standing in a yard watching someone hit it in public is a strange and good thing to be invited to, because the person on stage is counting and you are not. Comedy outdoors is harder than it looks. There is no ceiling to hold the laugh in, so a joke either travels across open air or it evaporates, and comics who work this series will tell you the first two minutes are spent teaching a crowd under the sky how to be a room. Quartyard is built out of shipping containers in East Village with a lawn and a beer line and dogs underfoot, which means the laughs you do get are the ones that earned it. Six in the evening on a Friday, downtown San Diego. Every comic you have ever loved had a thousandth show that nobody filmed.

Somebody drags a rack of coats onto the sidewalk and that is the whole signal. The vintage shops that would normally be locking up at six prop their doors instead. A record store puts a speaker in the window and the sound spills into the plant shop two doors down, which is also somehow open and somehow full. This is not a festival. Nobody built a stage. It is the same eight blocks that are here every other day of the month, except everyone decided to stay late at once, and that turns out to be the entire trick. You end up talking to the woman who owns the shop because she is standing outside her own door with nothing to do but talk to you. That does not happen on a Tuesday afternoon and it does not happen at a mall. The stretch runs Temple to Cherry and is genuinely walkable end to end in the time it lasts. There is a free bike valet, which tells you something about who this is for. Go hungry — half the appeal is that the restaurants on this corridor are small enough that one busy Friday actually changes their month. Fourth Friday of every month, 6:00 to 9:00 PM, 4th Street between Temple and Cherry.

Theatrical rock made by people who are obviously having a wonderful time is deeply unfashionable and completely undefeatable in a live room. This Arizona band writes songs with narrative arcs, key changes that should not work, and a horn part when a horn part is funny — the sort of thing that finds its audience through video games, animation communities, and the general internet rather than through radio. Their crowd is young, extremely online, and knows the words to material that never charted anywhere. Expect the room to handle whole sections unprompted. Sunday evening in an upstairs Masonic hall in Highland Park, wood floors, no seats. Music at 7:00 PM at 104 N Avenue 56. Fandoms built in Discord servers and comment sections are the ones most likely to turn a normal concert into something closer to a convention, and that is the atmosphere here.

You know that feeling when the ocean goes dark and something starts to glow beneath the surface — not a trick, not a screen, just biology doing what it has done for millions of years? Your kid's face when they see bioluminescence for the first time is going to wreck you. Birch Aquarium opens after dark for two nights only, and the whole place transforms into something between a science lab and a haunted tide pool. Live music from Billy Lee and the Swamp Critters drifts across the grounds while divers carve pumpkins underwater inside the tanks — the pumpkin guts float upward while kids press their faces to the glass. A costume parade winds through the exhibits. Trick-or-treating stations scatter across the aquarium grounds while the La Jolla cliffs disappear into fog behind you. The hands-on slime station and fluorescence demos make this more than a walk-through. Kids get to touch, build, and ask every question they have been saving up. Adults get to remember what it felt like when the ocean was still pure magic and you did not need to understand it to be changed by it. October 25–26, 6:00–8:30 PM. Birch Aquarium at Scripps, La Jolla.

Supporting this team in this city is an exercise in being outnumbered at home, and everybody who does it knows it. The bolt has a real and stubborn following here, much of it inherited from seventy years down the coast, and it spends every autumn watching its own stadium fill with somebody else's colours. Sometimes that is funny. Sometimes it stings. Against a team travelling three thousand miles in late November it will at least be quieter than usual, which means a genuine chance to hear your own section for once and to sit among people who chose this on purpose rather than because the algorithm told them it was an event. New York does not send many west this time of year. The lower bowl at SoFi Stadium is closer to the field than the size of the place suggests, and on a low-demand Sunday those seats come down to something reasonable. November 22, a 1:05 kickoff. Go be the loud part of the building for an afternoon.

The bass drops at nine and doesn’t stop until two in the morning. A live band sets the foundation while DJs layer in the grooves, and somewhere between the second drink and the third song you realize the whole room is moving and nobody choreographed this — it just happened because the music demanded it. Neo Soul Tuesdays at The Onyx Room is the weekly gathering for San Diego’s soul, R&B, and funk community. The crowd is 21-and-up and dressed like they meant it. The format blends live instrumentation with DJ sets and open mic poetry, which sounds like it shouldn’t work but does because the Onyx Room is the kind of basement-vibe space where genres stop being separate things and start being moods. If you have ever stood in a room where Erykah Badu was playing and felt like the whole city understood you, this is the closest you get to that feeling on a weeknight. Every Tuesday, 9:00 PM – 2:00 AM. Twenty-one and up. The Onyx Room, 852 5th Ave in the Gaslamp.

Most scenes depend on somebody deciding it is worth running this month. This one just shows up, every Thursday, and has since 1998. That reliability is the whole engineering trick. Because the floor is dependable, the good dancers keep coming; because the good dancers are there, the first-timers learn from people who are genuinely excellent; because first-timers keep arriving, the floor never calcifies into a closed club. Twenty-five years of that loop has made it the largest weekly swing dance in San Diego. Classes run 7 to 8 PM — beginner Lindy Hop, included with entry. Social dancing 8 to 11. Live bands when the calendar allows. The venue is a dedicated dance space, not a bar that shoves its tables aside at nine. On any given Thursday the room holds people in their first lesson and people who have been coming since the 1990s, and they dance with each other. 4255 Ruffin Rd Ste 200, San Diego. No partner required. No experience required. Dress code: whatever you can move in.

The playlist lives in your headphones where nobody at work can hear it. Bauhaus, Siouxsie, The Cure, Joy Division — seventeen years of curation hidden behind one earbud and a straight face. Monday mornings are for pretending, and Monday nights are for stopping. Blue Monday is where the pretending ends. Every Monday at EQ in Hillcrest, the lights go low and the vinyl starts spinning — dark 80s, post-punk, goth, new wave, glam, death rock, new romantic. Resident DJs Camilla Robina and Faux Velvet play all-vinyl sets, which means the crackle is real and the selections come from crates, not algorithms. The night has been running for over seven years, which tells you what you need to know about the crowd: this is not a theme night for tourists. These are the people who never stopped dressing like this. No cover. No pretense. Just a Monday night where the mascara is intentional and nobody asks you to explain the band on your shirt. Free venue parking. The room is dark enough to disappear in and loud enough to feel found. Every Monday at 9 PM at EQ, 1271 University Ave in Hillcrest. 21 and over, always free.

The alarm goes off at 6 AM on Thanksgiving and your entire family groans. Three hours later everyone is wearing a turkey hat, your cousin PR'd without telling anyone she was trying, and you've already earned the pie. Father Joe's Villages Turkey Trot sends thousands of runners through Balboa Park every Thanksgiving morning. It starts at 7:15 AM — early enough that you're home before the oven timer goes off — and what comes after the finish line is almost better than the run: a post-race festival with awards, a costume contest where the turkey suits get genuinely competitive, live music, and a beer garden that opens at 9 AM because it's a holiday and nobody is judging. Every registration helps Father Joe's Villages serve over a million meals to San Diegans experiencing homelessness. The run is a party. The reason for the run is not. Thursday, November 27, 2026. 7:15 AM. Balboa Park, 1549 El Prado, San Diego 92101. Thanksgiving week has a hole in it that nobody admits to. The meal ends early, the relatives go to bed at nine, and you are twenty-six years old standing in your childhood kitchen with a full night ahead of you and nothing to do with it. Everyone you went to high school with is also in town and also bored. A warehouse-scale room on Pico has been solving that deliberately. Catch One has been one of the most important dance floors in Los Angeles for decades, and a Thanksgiving-week party there runs on a very specific crowd: people home for the holiday, people who never left, and regulars who treat the week as a reunion they did not have to organize. House and techno, doors at six, early enough that you can genuinely do both. Going early is the move. The first two hours are when the room is loose and you can hear the person next to you. November 25 at Catch One, 4067 Pico Boulevard. If someone you love is flying home that week and dreading the downtime, this is the text to send.

The best show you will see this month costs eighteen dollars and the headliner will probably be standing at the bar before the set, because at this size there is no backstage worth hiding in. Everett and Lundy are both early enough in it that the room is the point - a Monday night bill at the Casbah, which has been San Diego's proving ground since 1989 and which has the receipts to prove it: Nirvana played the old room, the White Stripes played it, and the booker has kept the same instinct for who is about to matter. Monday is the night the Casbah gives to the acts it believes in rather than the acts that sell, which is exactly why the regulars pay attention to Mondays. Twenty-one and over, doors at seven, music at eight, and the back patio by the airport flight path where you can hear the planes between songs. If you want to be the person who saw someone in a hundred-capacity room and said so later, this is how that happens. It is a Monday. You have nothing else on.

The marigold petals make a path. You follow it not because you're told to, but because you already know where it leads — back to someone who isn't here anymore, and forward into a room full of people who understand why remembering them matters this much. Riverside's Día de los Muertos Festival spans six to seven blocks of downtown on November 1–2, making it one of the largest Day of the Dead celebrations in the United States. Over 80 community-built altars line the streets, each one a love letter disguised as art. Two stages of live music keep the energy moving. Folklorico and Aztec dancers anchor the tradition. Lowrider displays that are art, not transportation. Face painting that turns you into the person your abuela would recognize instantly. This is not a themed event for an audience. This is a tradition that survived colonization, commercialization, and forgetting. The community builds it with their own hands every year because the dead deserve to be remembered beautifully. Riverside. November 1–2. Free admission. Bring flowers.

You drop your name in a bucket, and fate decides whether you read tonight — in front of two hundred strangers who showed up on a Tuesday to hear exactly that. That's the deal at the longest-running spoken-word open mic in Los Angeles. Dante Basco started it in his living room in 1998 with Ron 'Shihan' Van Clief, Devan 'Poetri' Smith, and 'Brutha' Gimmel Hooper, and Da Poetry Lounge has run every Tuesday since, now at Greenway Court Theatre on Fairfax. This is the room that produced half of LA's spoken-word generation — Saul Williams, Beau Sia, Jamie DeWolf, in their different decades. The third Tuesday of every month is the slam: same room, real stakes. The rest of the time it's open — you sign up, you wait to hear your name, and whether you kill or freeze, the room holds you either way. Doors at eight, bucket at eight-thirty, mic at nine. Nobody told the Korean-American kids in Irvine and Fullerton who have spent years driving up to Koreatown because nothing closer played what they wanted. This one stays south. K-pop cut with EDM, loud, on a Thursday - and the Thursday is the real tell, because a weeknight crowd is never the casual one. Nobody burns a school night on something they are lukewarm about. Time is a fourteen-thousand-square-foot room with tiered booths ringing the floor, so the people not dancing are still watching the people who are, and that changes how hard the floor goes. The other thing a Thursday does is thin out the people who came to be seen, which leaves the ones who came to sing - and a K-pop floor only works when enough of the room is willing to be embarrassing out loud together. Portland doesn't have a literary scene. Portland is a literary scene — a city where the world's largest independent bookstore employs more people than some towns, where poets perform to sold-out rooms, where the kid at the coffee shop is reading Borges without irony. The Portland Book Festival is the annual proof, and in 2026 it expands for the first time into a full week: November 2 through 8, stretching across the South Park Blocks, the Portland Art Museum, McMenamins Mission Theater, Mississippi Studios, and Lan Su Chinese Garden. The main gathering on November 7 fills the South Park Blocks with more than 100 local, regional, and nationally acclaimed authors — readings, panels, pop-up writing workshops, a massive book fair, and, because this is Portland, food trucks parked on every corner. But the real expansion is in the surrounding days: evening events at music venues and restaurants, cross-disciplinary programming that pairs authors with live music and visual art, culinary experiences built around books about food, and late-night programming that turns what used to be a single-day book fair into a cultural festival with literature at its center. If you're the kind of person who keeps a running list of books you want to read that's longer than any list of books you've actually finished — who gets unreasonably excited when a favorite author announces a new title, who has talked about starting a novel but never quite has — this is the week where your people gather. The Oregon Symphony and Mississippi Studios provide the soundtrack. Lan Su Chinese Garden provides the setting for conversations that feel like they're happening in a novel rather than at a festival. The South Park Blocks provide the November air that makes holding a warm cup of coffee while carrying three new books feel like the only correct way to spend a Saturday. What to know before you go: Portland in November is gray, wet, and beautiful. Bring a rain jacket and a tote bag large enough for impulse buys at the book fair. Powell's City of Books is a fifteen-minute walk from the main festival grounds and is the obvious pre- or post-festival pilgrimage. Events range from free to ticketed. Full schedule at literary-arts.org. The Portland Book Festival is the Pacific Northwest's largest literary event, and its expansion to a full week is itself a statement: that books are not a niche interest but a way of moving through the world, and that the people who organize their lives around words deserve more than an afternoon.

Downtown does not usually feel like this on a Thursday. Then the barricades go up on The Alleyway, the smell of somebody's fryer reaches the corner before you do, and a street you normally drive through without looking becomes a place you stand in for four hours. The vendor mix rotates, which is the whole charm — regulars with a following next to somebody selling a thing they made at their kitchen table and decided, this week, to finally show people. Food trucks, artisan goods, handmade work, small business pop-ups, live music, and a downtown actually using its own streets instead of saving them for cars. It runs the first and third Thursday of the month through the season, evenings, free to walk into, with parking nearby. Full schedule at murrietamarketnights.com. Bring the neighbor who keeps saying there is nothing to do out here. Let the fryer make the argument for you.

Rose Bowl Flea Market — Pasadena
Every 2nd Sunday · Next Nov 8 From $15 Rose Bowl Stadium, 1001 Rose Bowl …

Nobody leaves with the thing they came for. You go looking for a lamp and come home with deadstock denim, a stack of vinyl, and an object that has no category but is clearly yours. That is what twenty-five hundred vendors on a stadium lot do to a person. Stylists, collectors and vintage hunters have been circling the second Sunday of the month since 1967, and the mix reads like everything Los Angeles has ever absorbed — Japanese streetwear beside 1970s Americana, mid-century furniture next to handmade jewelry, band tees, housewares, art prints. The quality ceiling runs higher than most dedicated vintage markets, because at that vendor count the best of it rises to the top. Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, second Sunday of every month, general admission from 9am and early birds in at 7:30 for first pass. Go with the person who will hold your spot while you double back for the thing you talked yourself out of.

Kansas City travels better than any other support in this league and they have had years of practice at turning SoFi into something that does not sound like a home game. Red everywhere in the concourse, a genuine contest for the building, and a home crowd that arrives knowing it has to work for its own room. That is the fixture. It lands in the strange gap between the holidays and the new year, when half the city is still off and nobody is entirely sure what day it is, which gives the whole thing a loose, slightly delirious quality on top of a division game with real consequences attached. One important practical note before you plan anything around it: the NFL has not set the kickoff time yet. Week 17 is flex-scheduled and the slot is decided late, so check the official listing in the days beforehand rather than trusting any time you see now, including ours.

Bluegrass played by people under thirty is a different animal from bluegrass played at you from a festival stage. Faster, ruder, and somebody in the band is guaranteed to do something the purists will complain about on the drive home. Clay Street Unit came up through the San Diego string-band circuit, the one that runs through backyards and brewery patios and the occasional living room with the furniture pushed against the wall. They play a club the way you would play a house show that happens to have a PA attached. Expect the banjo to be too loud in the mix. Expect at least one tune to fall apart deliberately and get rebuilt in front of you while everyone watches to see whether it works. Tuesday is the slowest night of this room's week, which means the stage lights stay up a little and you can see the players cueing each other for the changes. That is most of the pleasure. 21+. Doors 7:30, show 8pm. $20-$23.

The day after Halloween is the most forgiving day in sport. Half the city is wrecked, nobody has plans that survived the weekend, and the clocks went back that same morning, so by the six o'clock tip it has already been dark for an hour and the whole evening has the strange borrowed feeling of a night that started early and owes you nothing. It is the correct game to bring the person who has been saying for two years that they would come to one sometime. Early start, no traffic in either direction, nothing riding on the result, and a Toronto side that travels with a quietly enormous expatriate following - the Canadian contingent in Los Angeles is larger and considerably better organised than anybody expects until they hear it during two anthems instead of one. Downtown on a Sunday evening in early November is about as pleasant as that neighbourhood gets all year, and you are home before nine with the night still technically intact. Come for the one that asks nothing of you.

Enough green in the away end to be audible from anywhere in the bowl is how you know which fixture this is. Seattle is the oldest live grudge in this division, a rivalry carried by two fanbases who have spent twenty years ruining each other Januaries, and they travel down in numbers for the last weekend of a season. By the final week everything has collapsed into arithmetic: seeding, tiebreakers, and a scoreboard in the corner that half the building watches more closely than the field. Few things in sport are as tense as a full stadium doing mental maths in real time, and a closing home game against a rival is the purest version of it. One thing to know before you build a day around it: the league has not announced the kickoff time. The final week is flex-scheduled on purpose so that the games that matter get the best windows, so confirm the slot officially in the days beforehand rather than from any listing, this one included.

Go home first and you are not coming back out. Everybody knows this about themselves and pretends otherwise, which is why a seven o'clock Monday downtown works best as a straight shot from the office - no detour, no sitting down, no changing out of what you already have on. Downtown absorbs the early arrivals well. The plaza starts filling about an hour ahead, the restaurants along Figueroa run a pre-tip rhythm they have had decades to perfect, and the building is close enough to full by the anthem that the first quarter actually sounds like something rather than like a warm-up. Miami is the opponent, and they bring a travelling support that is disproportionately loud for a team three time zones away, partly because so much of it already lives here and has been waiting since the schedule came out. Monday is the easiest night of the week to get a seat worth having. Go straight there from work and find out what a week feels like when it starts on your terms.

The opening horn stab of 'Livin' la Vida Loca' still hijacks a room the second it hits, and that is the whole case for a Ricky Martin night. Twenty-five years after he kicked the door down for Latin pop on American radio, the man remains a genuine force of stage presence -- the hips, the voice, the sheer wattage of a crowd that has been waiting to lose its mind. Pechanga puts him in the valley on a November Sunday, close enough that most of Temecula and Murrieta can be home before midnight and still hoarse from screaming. This is not a polite sit-down concert; it is a party that happens to have a superstar at the front of it. Wear the shoes you can actually move in. Some nights are for behaving. Nobody involved is pretending this is new music, and that honesty is exactly why it works. Most of these headliners made their most important records decades ago. The records held up. The crowd knows precisely why it is standing in front of each act, which is not something you can say about a general festival field. Past bills have run Portishead, New Order, Slowdive, Mazzy Star, The Cure, Cigarettes After Sex — indie, post-punk, dream pop, shoegaze, sequenced by people who understand the difference between nostalgia and quality that simply aged well. The Rose Bowl handles it at human scale: a walkable floor, stages placed so you are not forced to choose between two things you drove out for, and food that reflects the city instead of standard festival concessions. Gold Line and shuttles run on the day. Send it to the friend whose entire personality is a shoegaze playlist. They will know before you finish typing the message.

The Massachusetts DIY punk scene is not a genre. It's a ZIP code with a sound — basements where the ceiling is too low for the drummer to stand, living rooms where the PA is someone's home stereo, and a specific brand of melodic punk that sounds like it was written by someone who reads more than they let on. Born Without Bones grew up in that scene and never really left it, even after four albums. Their sound pulls from '90s alternative and heartland singer-songwriter territory in ways that punk bands aren't supposed to admit — the hooks are earnest, the lyrics are literate, and the energy comes from caring too much rather than pretending not to care at all. The Casbah is the right size for this. Not because the band can't draw bigger, but because the songs work best when you can see the sweat on the singer's forehead and the setlist taped to the floor. Saturday, November 7. Doors at 8:30. Kettner Blvd. 21+.

DesignerCon 2026 — Las Vegas
Nov 13 – Nov 15, 2026 Paid - $25-$45 Las Vegas, NV

Somewhere in a long box in your closet is a resin figure you bought at a show like this — a limited colorway, poured in a batch of fifty, that you will never find again because the artist made it once and moved on. You still remember what you paid. You have never once regretted it. That particular hunt, the one that has nothing to do with investment and everything to do with recognition, is the whole reason this room exists. DesignerCon has been the center of the designer toy world since 2004, and its Las Vegas edition takes over The Expo at World Market Center this November. The floor is art toys, designer vinyl, limited-run resin, plush, custom sneakers, streetwear and original pop art — sold artist-direct, in small batches, with no mass-market retail anywhere in the building. What separates it from a comic convention is who is standing behind the table. The person taking your money sculpted the thing you are holding. Booths are stacked with one-off customs and exclusive drops that exist in runs of twenty or thirty, and the floor has a particular rhythm: a slow early crawl while collectors map the aisles, a hard sprint when a drop goes live, then long stretches of artists simply talking to the people who own their work. Live painting happens in the open. Trades happen in the aisles. Nobody asks what anything is worth, because everyone already knows. If you can name the sculptor of a figure on your shelf, this is worth the flight and the hotel. It is not a show for bargain hunting — prices are artist-set and the grails go fast. It is for people who want the object and the story of the object at the same time. Anyone hunting licensed mass-market merchandise will find almost none of it here, and that absence is the entire point. The scheduling detail that catches first-timers every year: opening night is not a public day. Friday evening is VIP-only, so a general badge gets you in on Saturday, not Friday, and the people who paid up have already walked the floor before you arrive. Plan around it — the best pieces move in the first ninety minutes of each day, which makes Saturday morning the serious shopping window and Sunday the better day for actually speaking with artists, when the crush has thinned and tables are not three deep. Go in with a short list and a hard budget, because the floor is built to defeat both. Bring a padded bag; resin chips, and nobody wants to explain a cracked grail to airport security. The art toy scene spent two decades proving that a figure made by one person in a small batch could matter as much as anything with a studio logo on the box, and this is the room where that argument gets settled every year. The hunt does not end when the doors close on Sunday. It just moves to whatever the artist makes next. November 13–15, 2026. Friday is VIP only, 5–9 PM; Saturday 10 AM–7 PM with doors at 9 AM for VIP; Sunday 10 AM–5 PM. The Expo at World Market Center, 435 S Grand Central Pkwy, Las Vegas, NV 89106.

One man, one guitar, tuned to something that is not standard, singing in a voice that sounds like it has been dragged across gravel — the comparison everyone reaches for is obvious and unhelpful, because what actually distinguishes this is the guitar playing, which is fast, unusual, and almost never simply strummed. Kristian Matsson is Swedish and has been doing this for the better part of two decades, filling rooms considerably larger than this one by moving around a stage constantly, alone, like a much bigger band. There is no setlist most nights. Highland Park's upstairs Masonic hall, wood floors, high ceiling, the natural reverb doing real work on a solo performance. Music at 8:00 PM at 104 N Avenue 56, a Wednesday, with a second night after it. Two-night runs at this scale mean the people who come both times end up recognizing each other, which is half of why they book them that way.

83rd National Folk Festival 2026 — Jackson, Mississippi
Every day · Next Nov 13 Downtown Jackson, 200 S Lamar St, …

Eighty-three years. That is how long the National Folk Festival has been wandering the country, setting up stages in a different American city every few years, and proving that the most extraordinary culture in the United States lives in ordinary places. The 83rd National Folk Festival comes to Jackson, Mississippi for three days of continuous music, dance, storytelling, craft demonstrations, and food from the people who carry these traditions in their hands and voices. More than 300 performers across up to seven stages — blues, gospel, zydeco, bluegrass, Native American dance, Appalachian clogging, Cajun accordion, Mississippi Delta harmonica. Every style earned its spot by surviving generations of being passed from person to person. Jackson is not an accident. The festival chose Mississippi because this state is where American music was born — where the blues walked out of the Delta, where gospel filled churches that became concert halls, where the crossroads are not a metaphor but a real intersection. The city becomes the stage. The traditions become the headliners. If you have ever wondered what American culture sounds like when nobody is trying to sell it to you, this is where you find out. The National Folk Festival is free — always has been, since 1934 — because the people who carry these traditions believe they belong to everyone. The performers are not celebrities. They are the last links in chains that stretch back centuries. A Cajun fiddler whose grandfather taught him the same tune. A quilter whose patterns encode stories her great-grandmother could not write down. A blues harmonica player from Clarksdale who sounds exactly like the Mississippi River feels. The food alone justifies the trip. Mississippi catfish, hot tamales from the Delta, soul food plates that could start a religion. Local artisans demonstrate crafts that predate the state itself. Children's programming runs all three days. The stages never go quiet. Presented by the National Council for the Traditional Arts as part of the Smithsonian's Of the People: Festival of Festivals initiative — a yearlong series of community celebrations across the country marking America's 250th anniversary. Free admission, all three days. November 13-15, 2026. Downtown Jackson, Mississippi. Worth the flight. Worth the drive. Worth remembering that the best culture in this country has always been free.

Some lineups read like a playlist. This one reads like a reunion for everybody who grew up wearing black in the California sun — the kids who found Bad Religion in a borrowed van, who got Morrissey off an older sibling's cassette, who fell into the Smashing Pumpkins during a summer that rearranged them. Morrissey and the Pumpkins headline, but the undercard is where the real reunions happen: Simple Minds, Bad Religion, Adam Ant, The Psychedelic Furs, Soft Cell, The Damned, Gary Numan, Buzzcocks, Circle Jerks, Marky Ramone — over thirty-five artists across three oceanfront stages, the entire width of post-punk, darkwave, goth, new wave, and hardcore punk in a single day, treated correctly as one family that has always been in conversation. The beach faces west, so by the time the headliners go on, the Pacific is doing the gold-then-purple thing. Sand for a venue floor. November air cool enough for the jacket you have been saving. Wear it. Go find your people on that sand.

Second nights of a two-night run are where the setlist stops being a setlist, and for a performer who mostly does not use one anyway that means the show can go almost anywhere. Alone with a guitar in an open tuning, moving constantly, the Swedish songwriter fills rooms far larger than this one and has been doing it for the better part of twenty years without adding a band to help. The playing is the part people underestimate — fast, intricate, closer to folk-blues technique than to strumming. Highland Park's upstairs Masonic hall has wood floors and the ceiling height to let a single voice carry. Music at 8:00 PM at 104 N Avenue 56, a Thursday. Two-night stands in a room this size turn an audience into something more like a congregation, and by the closing evening the front of the room is all returning faces.

You feel the kick drum before you hear it. That is what a proper theatre does to live sound and what an arena never manages — the room is small enough that the low end reaches your chest instead of dissolving into a concrete bowl, and the people around you are close enough that their reactions become part of the mix. Dolby Theatre in Hollywood is built for exactly that kind of listening: a room designed for occasions rather than for volume, where the sound engineer is not fighting the architecture. Everyone in it is doing the same thing at the same time, which is the oldest reason there is to leave the house. All ages, on a November evening in Hollywood. The people who were there will describe it differently than anyone who only heard about it later, and that difference is what you are actually buying. There is a specific frequency that lives in the opening chord of a pop-punk song — a frequency that bypasses your adult brain entirely and drops you back into the parking lot of whatever venue changed your life when you were sixteen. Vans Warped Tour returns to Orlando on November 14-15, 2026, at Camping World Stadium, and the lineup reads like a roll call of every band that taught a generation how to feel things out loud. Jimmy Eat World, whose 'The Middle' became the unofficial anthem of everyone who ever felt too weird for the cool table. Third Eye Blind, whose 'Semi-Charmed Life' soundtracked a million summer drives with the windows down. Taking Back Sunday, The Used, Sleeping with Sirens, Bowling for Soup, Flogging Molly, Simple Plan, Dropkick Murphys, Hoobastank, Hawthorne Heights, Hot Mulligan, and dozens more across two days and multiple stages. Warped Tour ran from 1995 to 2019 as America's definitive traveling punk rock festival — the place where bands got discovered, fans got sunburned, and the merch tent was the most important building in the world. The Long Beach revival in July proved the appetite never left. Orlando is the East Coast answer, and at 65,000-capacity Camping World Stadium, it is the largest venue Warped Tour has ever played. This is not a nostalgia act. This is a cultural institution proving it still has something to say. If you grew up on this music, you already know whether you need to be there — the question is not interest, it is logistics. If you did not grow up on it, this is the fastest education in American alternative music culture available anywhere in 2026. Two days. One campus. Every band that built the scene. Practical details worth knowing: the festival runs 11 AM to 10 PM both days. Tickets start at $149 for GA, $419 for VIP. The Orlando stop is part of Warped Tour's broader 2026 revival alongside the Long Beach edition. Camping World Stadium is located at 1 Citrus Bowl Place, Orlando, FL 32805 — the same venue that hosts the NFL Pro Bowl and major college football games. November in Orlando means high-seventies weather, which is kinder to a daylong outdoor festival than the August heat that used to define the original tour. The bands grew up. The fans grew up. The music didn't have to.

Drum and bass in America had exactly one period of mainstream attention, in the late nineties, and one of the men on this bill was at the centre of it. He never stopped, which in a genre this faddish counts as a kind of moral achievement. Pairing him back to back with a turntablist of the same vintage is the detail that makes this worth the trip: two people who learned to mix on vinyl, in public, with no safety net, doing it in front of a crowd half of whom have only ever seen a DJ press play. The younger names on the bill handle the heavier modern end. A downtown room on Spring Street, late, with a system that can carry the low end this requires. Something goes quiet in you when a singer opens her mouth in the language your grandparents argued in. Los Angeles holds the largest Armenian community outside Armenia, and most of what reaches a concert hall here is either careful folkloric preservation or straight diaspora nostalgia. This is neither. Composer John Hodian took the poems of Mkrtich Naghash, a fifteenth-century priest who wrote about exile while he was living it, set them for three female vocalists against duduk, oud, dhol and piano, and then let the whole thing build like a rock record rather than resolve like a hymn. The duduk is a double-reed pipe carved from apricot wood, and it sounds so close to a human voice at the edge of crying that it works on people who do not speak a single word of Armenian. It plays the Bram Goldsmith Theater on Wednesday, November 18 at 7:30pm in Beverly Hills. Six hundred years turns out to be no distance at all when the subject is missing home.

The songs are in a language that does not exist. The composer team built it out of what French and Gaelic and Japanese might erode into several thousand years from now, then had Emi Evans sing it, which is how you end up grieving along to music you cannot translate a single word of. People who have never touched the games cry at this anyway, and nobody has ever been able to explain that cleanly to a friend. She is on stage for this one. So is J'Nique Nicole, the other original voice, with a full orchestra and chorus behind them and a newly narrated story cut across a screen the width of the room. This is the follow-up production to the 12024 concert, which filled halls almost entirely on word of mouth from people who could not articulate why a game about androids fighting machines in a ruined France had taken them apart so thoroughly. Eric Roth conducts. The Shrine is the correct room for it — large enough to hold the chorus, old enough that the building itself does some of the work. Anonymity used to be a career-ending choice and this band made it the entire point, spending five decades on stage with their faces covered while releasing records that treat pop music as an anthropological specimen. Nobody agrees on who is in it. That is deliberate and it has held. What gets lost in the eyeball costume is that the work itself is genuinely unsettling — song cycles about American violence, obsessive tribute albums, an approach to storytelling closer to outsider art than to rock. Seated shows suit the current material, which is more narrative than noise. The audience is one of the strangest and most pleasant in music: people who have followed this since vinyl, art students, and a scattering of the merely curious who will leave changed. Music at 8:00 PM in Ventura on East Thompson Boulevard. It falls the night before Thanksgiving, which is either the worst or the best possible preparation depending on your family.
